Am I the only one who thinks they might re-open them again in a few days? Maybe GS just wants to teach you how much it hurts to lose them?

 

I see where the Club are coming from on this, but wouldn't it have been easier to ban the individuals involved other than making everyone else suffer?

 

Its the clubs fault if they cant moderated a message board why have one.

 

No I think it had gone too far, it would be ok if the site had checked IP address and banned them, but all the banned people did was set up another user name so it had no real affect.

 

You can't IP ban people anymore with the rise in broadband connections. You get a different one almost every time you come online.

 

I don't believe that the boards will open again as GS has had the last few days to consider and take advise on the subject.

In a way I'm not too unhappy as my experiences with this board have so far been posititive (early days I know !!) and I am happy to use the Main Board to view official news only.

I think everyone is now more aware of what is acceptable in the public domain and whilst I didn't get involved with all the MK stuff it is plain that the posts on that subject were the straw that broke the proverbial (allthough I think Simpo had more longterm issues with the board and it's existence on a club board accessed by family members).

What I hope does not drift over here is some users total disregard for the views of others and the mini-vendettas that we had. People need to accept the wide range of view/ages/intellects of users and respect them.

At least the editting falicity should reduce the rediculous number of posts which criticised others' spleling and grammer - as if it really matters.

just got in from school now and found out never thought it would happen. i knew there was somthing up when i logged on and there 23 members were online! welcome to all of the new members

really I was sure you could still ban IP addresses? Admin's done it to me!

 

It is possible to ban individual computers from replying to message boards and chat rooms .Instaed of checking IP addresses the system checks on the MAC address of the network adaptor .(boring i know)

Enough of the boring stuff

But i cant remeber the last time i looked at a post with over 80 replies on the trot without someone bickering and putting down just because they didnt have the same opinion

the moderation was pathetic! they even made me a mod....... sums it up really

 

not good news at all, altough the boards werent the best, they were still our home.

also they shut down as i was copying a link for the macca goal. anyone know it?

 

Evening all.

Quite shocked actually that Mr Simpson actually went as far as closing the board down, even though he threatened to. Shame really because I really enjoyed reading peoples opinions and was a member for a good 2 years.

Oh well a fresh start doesn't hurt and this board looks far better than the previous, and hopefully all the numpties from the old board won't migrate over to this one.

 

Then I'm just plain confused ???

Boring I know ....but who cares.

How do we get enough brownie points to enter the areas where we can say what we want and use a modicum of industrial language ? (I'll bet Simpo's already there waiting)

Oh dear the person who was the final straw for the fiscal boards with last nights spamming of email exchange.

 

that and my continual posting of apparently libelous rumours... hang on a bit!

 

We've all started with a clean slate here. Bear that in mind.

 

i cant belive it i was talking to people from Devon where i live on the MB and we was going to swap emails to go to more games. This is stupid. Alll because some people spreading rumnors

 

Welcome Duzza007, I think most people here would agree with you. Hopefully you can find them or they'll find us here. Have you tried gloryhorns or the dark side?

 

The IP address is like a finger print.. it is unique to each computer, that is how the police and other authorities can and do track paedophiles and other criminals, the ISP will only change a very slight amount and all computers on a network even carry their own which is how it is possible to tell exactly which terminal was used to do whatever was done, this is an inbred thing that cant be changed by the ISP or anyone its part of computer core programs.
I am on a T1 connection and since reading an earlier post from your good self on this subject have checked mine often and the IP has not changed at all, there may be ways around it but it is unlikely that the people who use these sites would be likley to do that.

your IP will never change if you have not disconnected and reconnected , although some IP also require you to disconnect for a minimum period of time before releasing the IP . Could expand further , but if i did , it would give the answers to those wanting an easy way to come back ban after ban.

 

You can't rely on IP banning anymore as it's not foolproof. Thankfully we have a modern forum software running here that gves us so many more tools.
