Quite possibly, reminds me of this classic footballing moment, only difference is that Phillips flies in trying to recover from his awful first touch:

Happy with this window. I think the Pozzos have addressed all the weak areas of the team and got rid of the biggest influences from the toxic dressing room. Very good dealing.

    Confidence repaid.

You're putting words in my mouth - I never said jettisoned from the squad. But if they have some training sessions where they are not 'on it' or start downing tools in the lead up to the next window, then yes, I believe it's possible that Ivic would overlook them for some games - I never said permanently or long-term.

We've been told Ivic favours youth...we've been told he's not afraid to put noses out of joint or drop bigger names and we've been told he has looked at youth teams at his previous jobs.

You think that's impossible and it's only injuries that will see them play. I disagree and think he's not saying what you think he is. Let's not derail the thread any further as we won't agree.

Just leave it. Keep your powder dry until the point one of them plays or comes on as sub and is utterly dreadful and then WT and the others start with their 'too soon to judge' and 'needs games but could develop' spiel.

So you do think it's possible Hungbo, Phillips, Stevenson etc could make starts? For that to happen we'd need several first team players in their position to be injured, or to have, in your words, downed tools. Would you accept this could constitute a bit of an...emergency scenario?

I agree. And I'll gladly accept I was dead wrong. Burnsy has decided to shoot his wad prematurely as deep down he knows the above scenario is highly unlikely to happen, but couldn't resist.

Also you've missed the point a tad as I'm not saying these players are good enough. They're not. I'm saying our squad is deep enough for these players to be for emergency purposes only. Which it is.

I’ve said what I have and think I’ve been clear. You disagree. Frankly I don’t care and won’t derail the thread further answering your questions after this.

You said earlier that injuries would be the emergency? Now you accept that form or attitude issues would be an emergency. Giving yourself the excuse already for if an U23 plays it must be an emergency.

Didn’t you get upset earlier with HB1 ‘insulting’ you?

And you wouldn’t accept you were wrong in the future - it’s beyond you to not make excuses.

Waste of money. They won't be a threat. We are fully covered if ever we play a LB in our coach's preferred system with a m RB who can't kick with his left foot and a winger. We might have our first choice, a guy who looks out of his depth at any level back at some point this season. He is a LB though.

I've given you as much leeway as you could possibly want. Injuries, downing of tools, abducted by aliens. Fact is these u23 players won't be making starts unless several first team players in their position are unavailable. Which is the original point that you were trying and failing to mock in your original post.

  16. Burnsy

Why would ‘downing tools’ make them unavailable rather than just overlooked for someone with a better attitude?

You say I failed - but it’s sure had you rattled enough.

Unavailable for selection, by Ivic's discretion. Like Welbeck was.

If you honestly think Femenia, who has been fully involved in the squad since pre-season and has made 2 starts will suddenly down tools, despite the fact he won't be able to secure a transfer for another 3 months, then fair enough. And if you think he'll be replaced in the starting line-up by Stevenson instead of Sema/Masina/Cathcart/WTE, Wilmot/Kabasele/Programme Dave then fair enough.

Apologies, my sources got Watford and Walsall mixed up. Easy thing to do.

Replying to halfwits, no I can’t. And you kept asking questions so it’s not polite to leave them unanswered. If you’re that bothered by people replying to you, don’t give them questions to answer.

In respect of derailing the thread you could have just said ‘yeah I agree, let’s not do that.’ But no - you asked questions instead. I’d happily say if you really want to continue the debate we can do so privately - but you get offended by that too. It’s a very difficult set of rules you set your fellow forum members with.

Whilst it's been a pretty busy day for us already, I still think we might get a couple more through the door.

I am not sure. I think that signing an effective striker, a competent left back or a creative midfielder might upset the perfect balance of our already talent-packed squad.

Resorting to personal abuse, the sign of a lost argument. Sad to see... Did I ask a question in this post you replied to?

I couldn't care less about replies, you're the one moaning about derailing threads, before replying again. You made a mistake in your original post, and that's fine. You don't need to perform all these mental gymnastics to try to worm out of it.

It does seem a huge pity us not signing a left-back, even on loan.

Not exactly a huge statement of intent.

It’s all well and good saying ‘oh but X or Y can play there until the one actual left-back we have returns in November’ but this does make a lot of assumptions, such as Masina recovering on time and hitting the ground running after a long injury spell, Femenia not getting his usually monthly injury or sickness and Sema not being missed in a more advanced role.

Looks like we play tonight without a recognised left back or an out and out striker.

Hardly the sign of a team set up to rip up the league.

The big question is will Sarr and Capoue have miss moves on their mind or be fully focused to perform for us.

    We need them to.

Kept Hughes, Capoue and Sarr and added Ngakia, Garner and Troost-Ekong. Only lost out of form Doucoure and Pereyra, out of contract Holebas, injured Deulofeu, waste of space Dawson, and two players who have never played for the club and didn't want to be here.

Not perfect and success may depend on Gray rediscovering his Championship form, but very happy all things considered. Should be getting top 6 with this squad, minimum.

Does that mean Sarr, Hughes, Capoue can’t move till January or is there some random loan deadline after this? Got to be good I guess, LB aside we’ve given ourselves a shot. Need Gray back though or Deeney to get thin enough to participate.

They've kept at least three of the players responsible for our relegation. One of which was never linked to another club this window.

You should think before you wet the bed. I'd like to see you do better.
