Probably chili masala or a naga but will ask for extra hot. Plus the vegetable sides of course. Aloo gobi is always good.
That wasn’t there in my day in the fine city. Stayed in plenty of B&Bs on Earlham and Unthank Roads though. Rented a house on Edinburgh Road, which is not too far from the FC (and nearer still to another very good pub, the Belle Vue).
Was probably private house, looks like it anyway. Only has 3 rooms, got it off booking.com, so fingers crossed, last time I used them was at Wigan and we won 2-0 so let's hope history repeats.
Interesting, I hate pretty much all Indian vegetable sides, but breads and the main dishes themselves are of course possibly the best things you can get. I used to get a Naga from a place in Berko, but then they rebranded, took it off the menu and simultaneously made what was there much, much worse. Now I get a chilli masala from the evergreen Curry Garden. Not that many places have it, but I do enjoy a Chettinad a lot, even though it's not as hot as you might like; the taste makes up for it enough. Annoyingly, the best I had was from a place called Chor Bizzare in Mayfair that closed down permanently a year or two ago. Such is life in the world of curry.
Was a sort of doss house for years but has been extensively renovated....appar very nice now. Turn right towards the city and the Georgian house does nice pub food
I am absolutely baffled by the negativity here and elsewhere around the club. Has anyone actually done the maths? I have. And it shows how absurd it is people are concerned about relegation. The season can be broken into 3 sections: Section 1: The season so far. The mess of poor defending, profligate finishing and some misfortune we have already experienced. Section 2: Now till the end of the calendar year. This lies ahead of us. A dark time that few are relishing. Section 3: Joao Pedro days. When the most talented wunderkind in the world joins Watford in January and single handedly leads us to astonishing feats. Section 1: We played 11 games and took 5 points at a worrisome 0.45 points per game (PPG). Section 2: Likely to follow a similar trend to Section 1 with no real changes to the squad, therefore we will take around 4 points from these 9 games at 0.44 PPG. Section 3: When JP arrives we are likely to win almost every match. A conservative estimate of 2.5 PPG would leave us on 54 points and a likely top 10 finish. To hit the 'golden' 40 point target we only need 1.72 PPG in Section 3, laughably low given Pedrolito's talent. We will of course lose to Norwich. Prediction Norwich 9-0 Watford Pukki (5, 21, 44, 62, 67, 82, 89, 90+2), Deeney (og 90+4)
Lion, Moon's or Walkabout for me. In case others don't know, Moon's is now showing the footie (including this footie I hope).
Used to live just off the Unthank Road. A very good mate of mine (bird artist - Clive Byers - TUT should know of him) still lives there. A nutter too.
On curries. A middling rogan rosh or jalfrezi man myself. Partial to a bhindi bhaji side. Prefer a paratha to a naan. I was once a witness to a 'hot curry eating competition' in a curry house in Naarch. Four of us present. Two ordered phalls without rice. Both finished them. Then the other three (who were in the know - I think they made a habit of it) did a runner. Consequently I was 'last out the door'. I guess the warrant's expired now. On Naarch pubs. Well the Plasterers', the Murderers' and the Wild Man were favourites. Says it all really. I nicked a mattress from an alleyway down the side of the former and took it back in a taxi to the UEA campus on account of having smashed up my bed by using it as a toboggan for six on the mound opposite the then Waveney Terrace. I trust the warrant for that one's reached its 'statute of limitations' too. Both 'incidents' late 76/early 77.
The Murderers is a decent ale house. The other two ring bells but not sure I have been to either. Waveney Terrace is still there.
Yes, of course you’re right. It went after I moved jobs but it wasn’t there the last time I went back about 5 years ago.
Which is the pub very close to Carrow Road? My brother and I went in there a few years ago and they played non stop Zeppelin. I think my brother may still be there!
