Because there is more recent evidence that he’s lost his way in management? There’s worrying reasons as to why he’s been sacked from Leicester and Derby that it isn’t hard to see happening again given our owner and sidekicks? An evidence based opinion - he got sacked in Belgium this year while his club were bottom of the second tier.

He did well with Leicester 5 years ago and was then sacked. And plenty of stories since of bullying etc.

I don’t discount what he did positively with Leicester. I just don’t think it surpasses all the negatives. Just seems you struggle with people who don’t hold your opinion?

Young Pozzo and Duxbury know what they're doing ... there are clearly issues that need sorting out (as many people on this forum have been saying for many years). I was a bit unsure at first, but re-assured by the Leicester forum ... we're clearly going to lose some players, but it may be just the kick a lot of our squad need ...

Imagine the meltdown on this highly sensitive forum if he says that to one of our fans.

Coming back to work in the place that his worst moment as a manager (apart from the sackings) happened. We won’t be able to play the “.... Hogg, DEENEY” clip on the big screens for the next month or so.

Well it was going to be either him or some other soft speaking "pat them on the back" manager. I would rather have Pearson over Hughton, Clement and
    almost certainly Mark Hughes.

Welcome to Hertfordshire Nigel. I really hope you turn out to be our saviour and "do a Leicester". If you cannot keep us up, at least send us down fighting
and playing with more spirit and guile than the awful lethargic football we had to endure under QSF. Does this mean Mullin's won't take charge against
    Palarce?

I imagine Mullins will still be in the dugout. Pearson in the stands.

Cheap shot from you to say that last point, just because I probed a little bit about your logic. You explained & that's really all you needed to do. No one knows if it will work out or not.

It's short, sharp shot in the arm which is what we need & we can get rid at any time. Also sounds like he's on a performance based deal with a golden Cherry at the end if he keeps us up. I see nothing wrong with a structure like this given our situation & there will be better managerial options available in the summer if it doesn't work as planned & you won't go far wrong having someone like that in the Championship either way. Time well tell.

    My prediction for Nigel’s favoured line up;

    Foster

    Right back
    Mariappa (sp)
    Cathcart
    Left back

    Deulofeu
    Doucoure (sp)
    Hughes
    Pereyra (sp)

    Deeney
    Grey

Loves a 442, he keeps it simple on the pitch and leaves room for players to express themselves. I reckon there’s a baseline for technical ability in Premier League and pretty much all of the players in the league meet it. It’s the ones that feel confident, loved and motivated that win you games even without being special. Look at our league winners. Mentally tough. Any player can achieve that state of mind with the right manager.

I’m feeling confident for you. A Nigel Pearson with a point to prove is an unpredictable but dangerous *******.

It wasn’t intended as a cheap shot. But all the ‘evidence’ I gave in my response I have stated in earlier posts - which it feels like you didn’t read so were maybe ill-judged in your initial post to me to say what you did. Anyway, we can move on. We hold differing views and I’m sure we are both okay with that and as you say, time will tell.

crying shame this wasn't done back in Sep. We'd be comfortably mid-table.

A fit Cleverley would slot in place of Hughes. I would probably shoe-horn Kabasele in there as well when back from suspension. Janmatt is also
a sure starter over Kiko Femina. Agree with Burnsy about Sarr. He was our MotM against Southampton and your lot. We need our top performers
    to stay in the team,

Personally I'm sick of seeing that especially when we are doing poorly, granted our time in the Prem hasn't been as brilliant as we thought it would be, but surely there must be more than a fair share of highlights from this era, any of which we could replace the Deeney moment with? Not to mention many worldies and match-winning and promotion winning goals from the Championship, from a season we actually won something. I'd replace it with GD's against Wolves.

Nigel Pearson was not my preferred option and I do have some reservations about his appointment. However, I am pleased that Craig Shakespeare will be joining him. Pearson struggled both at Derby County and OH Leuven, but he was working at these clubs without Shakespeare as his assistant and the two of them do seem to be more successful when they are working together.

Forgot about him! Your best player the other night, maybe in a front two? Pearson loves a mercurial player, he gets a lot out of flair players which is surprising given his temperament.

Duxbury mentions in the statement that it’s been a pleasure spending time listening to Pearson talk about his passion for football.

Now we know why it took so long to make a hire. Time for those who said the club didn’t have a plan in place or a clue might need to eat some humble pie. They were simply chatting football with Big Nige for the last few days. Shame on all of you who doubted Gino.

I should also add I’m not entirely against every aspect of it. He will undoubtedly be vocal against the media and officiating etc and it’s about time we gave a bit back in those areas.

I completely agree with your thoughts that it's confidence and motivation that make the difference between most teams in the premier league. It's what we desperately needed when Javi was sacked - someone to build up the confidence again and get the team playing again as we know they are capable. I think there's a lack of mental strength in the squad that means they have to be given that strength from a talented man manager - they can't muster it themselves.

For whatever reason, Quique wasn't able to provide that. There is a chance that Pearson is exactly the type of manage we need, we start picking up points, all of a sudden we have some momentum and the season is rescued.
I also get the feeling that if it doesn't work out with him, things might fall apart in a completely catastrophic way that at least might be quite fun to watch over the next six months.

So really it's a win-win situation. Come On You Orns.

Btw Filbert - I will say this from all of us. Well done for keeping Arsenal's greasy mitts of Brenda. I would rather your lot do well than the rancid lot
that we share a training ground complex with. Good on Leicester for sealing a deal.

Well that lot is a ringing endorsement to say the least. I can't see that there would be so many positive comments in such a short time if he wasn't worth a try. Some say they are even making us their second team! Many had said that he should get Craig Shakespeare to work with him, and that has now happened.

I have said many times that our squad has the ability needed, we just need someone to kick them up the backside . Whilst I wasn't specifically thinking of him, Pearson may just fit the bill.

And thank heavens we'll have someone on the touchline who demonstrates a bit of passion although it may be an interesting training ground and changing room when some of our fancy dans feel his boot up their arse.

Considering the circumstances, I couldn't be happier with this appointment.

It might not be glamorous but it is pragmatic. If we do go down then this managerial team have all the credentials to see us up again straight away. Esteban should come in as a consultant. Still would do a better job than Doucoure at the moment.

    Pleased with the appointment.

Why did it take a 2nd attempt to realise this was the right man? Why was Flores re-appointed over him a few months ago? We’d probably be alright if he wasn’t.
