To be honest I’d take zola now and just keep him forever regardless of results.

    I'd have Zola.

Best Italian manager we've ever had after Sannino.

There were rumours about Lamouchi before Pearson arrived. Wouldn't be surprised if an approach was made if they stay in the Championship...

Eddie Howe another option should Bournemouth go down - but given how stable his job at them is, would he swap that for the opposite with us? I'm doubtful.
Dyche should he leave Burnley as is rumoured? Can't see it.

    Di Francesco would be fun.

Zola is like that ex when you’re young and you’re stupid and you think you can do better and eventually you realise they were the one.

We know it's coming. Monday morning a certain watch wearing Snake will slither back into the club and try to do a better job than QSF did in his second stint.

Only GT has had success with us in more than a single role. He loved the club, and the club and town still love him. Any ex manager we get now will never show a level of commitment and desire than he did.

Genuinely don’t think it’s out of the question that we approach Silva in the summer.

For all Gino’s faults, he’s not exactly too proud in such situations. When you consider that QSF returned, and that Udinese have re-appointed numerous managers, I don’t think it’s beyond them at all.

There’s no chance they’d go back in for him. He was the one that engineered the move.

They would never trust someone that does that.

All depends if we stay in the league with who we get. Puel seems to be the number one choice but he wouldn't manage us in the Championship.

Dyche would leave Burnley if he was offered a better job. The Watford job, with a guarantee of being sacked in 6 months if he loses 3 straight games and being sacked in 12 months if he doesn't, will not tempt him.

It won't tempt anyone who has got a job unless they're currently at a much lower level and the guaranteed money is worth the early sacking.

If we stay up, there will be a queue of out of work managers wanting the job. Don't worry about that. Getting a Premier League job is not something easily refused, even if it's Watford.

Seriously guys, Puel is bad, bad news. Awful man manager, stubborn, can’t communicate the most basic message and plays a style of football that would put Aidy Boothroyd in a coma.

I don't think the odds are much to go on at all yet. Given the statement, no one is coming in the next week. They are just throwing names about with all the usual suspects listed, with a few odd ones too.

I'd really hope that all efforts at the club are focussed on avoiding relegation this week with not more distractions.

I don't doubt that. I'm just saying that out of work managers will be the only ones available. No need to look at anyone who has got a steady job unless the money is vastly better.

And I hope it is a Premier League job, incidentally. But I reckon you need at least 1 more point because I reckon Villa will win one. Unfortunately.

The odds are quite meaningless right now.

Whichever league we are in next season will dictate who we will go for.

I care for Watford and I would be absolutely mortified if he conned his way into another PL job. I’d take a season of Championship hoofball over 45 minutes of his version of the beautiful game in the PL. The funny thing is he’d see himself well above working in the Champ.

Sounds bonkers and will never, ever happen but honestly, how much influence does a manager have in our model? Have a bad season? Move on the players and give the coach a new bunch to work with.

Hayden Mullins & Troy Deeney are managing us right now in two huge games, how much influence does a manager in this set up really have?

Main thing is be nice and don't lose the dressing room forever.

End of the day, nobody will just lose forever and nobody will just win forever?

Ralph Hasenh*ttl lost 9-0 ffs. Now he's flavour of the month, he'll probably have a wobble again some point next season.

At least with Zola he's cute and the football ethos will be right.

What I find amazing is that Dyche has been on the kinds of bad runs that have got our managers the sack, yet not only kept his job but also more than justified the faith the board have shown in him. And you can't tell me that Burnley are a smaller club than Watford with lower expectations.

First season back in the Prem - stays up with something to spare but is heavily reliant on home form with the worst away record in the division bar relegated Hull and finishes the season on a poor run that more or less matches QSF's at the end of his first season. Burnley after being relegation favourites finish 7th the following season and qualify for the Europa League. OK, most of us were in favour of Flores leaving, but leaving aside his disastrous second stint, after he got a struggling Espanyol side to 8th place, improving both their attack and defence, who's to say he wouldn't have done something similar here? It would surely have been better than what we got under Mazzarri.

Last season, he got only 12 points in the first half, a worst run than any Mazzarri and Silva have been on. Were any Burnley fans calling for his head back then?

This season, he went on a run of 12 points in 14 games, exactly the same run that got Pearson sacked, facing back-to-back games against Leicester and Man Utd having not beaten anyone decent, not much easier than what we are to face now (and Pearson had already got wins over Man Utd, Wolves and Leicester). Now they are on the fringe of the European places despite missing some key players.

All this, and the much-reiterated fact about Southampton keeping faith with their manager despite a horrendous start to the season, supports hornetboy1's post that we really need to stick with a manager long term and not keep ditching them at the first sign of trouble.
