We're told Slavisa Jokanovic still considering 'very good offer' from Watford. No agreement yet. Club sources seem relaxed. #SSNHQ

It's quite obvious he's going to sign a long term contract. Even if the worse came to the worse and he didn't, the Pozzo's would find a decent replacement and be able to attract a better calibre of manager due to our Premiership status.

Either way, it's nothing to worry about.

I'd guess that the wait isn't over his contract but about who to target in the summer. He seems more involved in transfers than previous coaches in the Pozzo era so it makes sense to sort out that side of things to make sure everyone is on the same page.

I'm actually very calm about the whole matter. He seems like a genuine sort of fella, with an offer to manage in the Premier league. Nothing at all to worry about.

Jokanovic is a man of pride and sense. He'll know that there's work to do here and can't see him walking away when only half the job is done. He knows Watford gave him the chance, and i'm sure he'll want to stay here for at least next season to see how his team does in the Premiership. As other have mentioned the delay is probably on him wanting to be more involved with the transfers.

Presumably the doubt is about his family situation? Doesn't he live away from them currently?

Said he wants to move to the London area permanently didn't he? Maybe the family doesn't want to move from Madrid?

  11. Family reasons would surely be the only reason why he wouldn't want to sign surely (still think he's going to), I don't think even money would pursuade him to leave Watford and also leave the London area, which he clearly loves...(I really can't see a Newcastle or Sunderland move being an option...)

Madrid is a lot like London only with much better weather. I wouldn't blame them TBF.

    People are seriously over-thinking this.

His family currently live in Madrid. The only way he's going to uproot them and move them to the UK is if he is offered a decent length contract.

If he is offered a decent length contract, he will want to discuss moving to London with his wife and family. It's a big decision and one any family would take their time over.

Uprooting your life and moving to another country is not a small thing to do, especially if you have nippers trailing in your wake.

I would divorce my wife and disown my children to manage a Premier League club tbh.

Seriously questioning this Jokanovic clown's commitment to our club.

There are a number of things that might be holding the Joka back (let's all hope temporarily).

    1. His family situation as previously indicated.

    2. His input into selecting new recruits. I doubt he'd have any difficulties with the potential quality offered to him but he will want to see new recruits in very specific roles particularly given the need to juggle home-grown player and loanee rules within a limited squad number. I would expect he'd want power of veto over a new recruit if he didn't think he was a 'best fit' despite the quality and business case. In addition, he might have some specific targets of his own that he would want backing over even if that would stray outwith the normal 'Pozzo model' way of doing things.

    3. The McGoo, Dyer situation. He won't want to see them back. His decision to 'get rid' last year wasn't a temporary one and, seeing how well that worked out, he'll want backing that if we can't see the back of them again (hopefully permanently) that the club (and the Pozzos) will take the consequent financial hit. And in similar situations too.

    4. We know that the Joka is an engaging bloke to work with and a good listener (from Dean Austin) and an astute tactician but he also quite obviously has a backbone of steel, knows his own mind and believes implicitly in his own judgement and ability to help us move to another level. He also knows that, to achieve that, all the details have to be sorted and in place.

    5. He may have concerns about the length of contract on offer both to inform moving his family and to get the next stage of the job done. I doubt that any stalling will be much around the bottom line on his wage slip. Once the two men of integrity are agreed that all the eyes are dotted and tees crossed then the Joka will sign the piece of paper.

Ancelotti will be free in the next couple weeks, maybe that's what the Pozzo's have been waiting on all this time.

Not sure if this has been posted here - http://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/fo...fered-new-deal-extend-stay-Vicarage-Road.html

Out of the five clubs listed, Derby and Leeds can be ruled out, not sure why they'd be after someone who has the option to manage in the Premier League.

Sunderland and Newcastle are both messes, and will not be sorted out any time soon. West Ham is the interesting one....depends on what he's looking for and what would tempt him.

Personally I think it will be more exciting to manage us than West Ham(ignoring my quite obvious bias).

Surely depends on his relationship with our owners as well as their commitment. Even then sometimes it's better the devil you know.

Personally I doubt WHU would be that interested so early in his English career but of course stranger things have happened and you never know.

West Ham is a manager role though and not a Head Coach I believe. If so, was it he who was quoted saying he couldn't understand how Managers handle transfers as well as the current players?

Apparently he has already been offered a new deal, but as yet it has not been signed!

It has to be said, is it enough? Or is he being tempted to move by the amount of speculation about other clubs wanting him, including Newcastle, Sunderland and Leeds Utd (though I would hope he would not be interested in this lot), as for the other two, they could be a big draw, though I like to think that it would only be if they were offering him considerably more money, and not for any other reason :frown:

IMO he probably wants to stay but he is trying to negotiate the best deal he can before signing. That's what I'd do.
