Considering all the things going on behind the scenes and the relative strength of their squad they’ve started really well and played some good football.

There was a moment against West Ham on Sunday where we broke at pace and but for a couple of dodgy passes could have scored a counter attacking goal which would have reminded me of the good times under Zola.

If we can get the composure when passing this could give us that exciting option to suck teams in away from home as well as controlling games.

    Looking forward to this one.

    3-0 to us

Gray, Hughes and Rich to score

Both teams will see this as winnable so I think both will go for it with strong attacking and questionable defending.

On paper it could be a really entertaining end to end 5 goal thriller!

    3-2 to either team!

Not through choice per se. We do seem to pin most teams back for large parts of the game.

We'll win and I don't even think it will be close.

More and more Newcastle blogs, reporters and fans saying that they should beat us easily.

Rafa isn’t dumb and will want to stop the rot after losing their last three games. He will play to get a point or nick a 1-0 win.

Cliché but think the first goal will be important. If we score it first they will have to come and attack which will play into our hands. If they score first they will sit on it, defend for their lives and try and counter our attacks.

Opening 15/20mins will be key and if we get a goal or at least keep it 0-0 we will go on to win it.

We nearly have a fully fit squad and our bench will be strong with lots of options to change the game.

Going for a 3-1 win. We will be winning 2-1 with Newcastle pushing and making it a very nervy affair, but we counter and go on to score our third and kill the game.

Really? Where are you reading this stuff? On the match thread on their forum they seemed pretty balanced and any that did predict a win for them were saying it would be very tight. If anything, our fans seem far more cocky.

It isn't cocky to look at the two squads and managers, then come to the conclusion that we really should be battering the likes of these.

If we remember to bring our scoring boots then this could be a cricket score.

F***, I just remembered the cricket score.

Also there is a rookie referee, he officiating his first PL game so hopefully he isn't the type to be intimidated by the large crowd. He reffed some Newcastle matches last season in the Championship.

Good - when teams think like that we tend to do better!

Bet365 have 5/2 on us to win today. 7/10 double chance.

    That's crazy odds.

Put the kids christmas present money on it.

  16. I always go for the handicap bets - that way I don't jinx the win. (In my head - bizarre behaviour for someone who considers himself very rational!) Got some fantastic returns in the promotion season and the play off season.

    Watfud -2 18/1.

I'm very tempted to bet today.

I am new to this, and there are lots of free bet offers out there. Are they really free or is there a catch?
Luckily I have a very unaddictive personality, so getting hooked is not a problem.

Also, I'm not greedy, so a straight bet on a Watford win would make me happy.

I’m the same hardly ever bet on watford, always assume I’m unlikely so betting on watford is bound to make them lose

You have to place further bets up to 3 times the value of the free bet before you can withdraw any winnings or something.

You're unlikely? That is way too philosophical for a matchday thread.

Ah I've tried all the ways and have concluded that you should avoid betting on your own team - either for or against.

I heard the wise philosophy of backing the opponents, so that if we lose, then you've got a consolation. But it's not as good as it sounds. When we lose, the winnings feel dirty. It's not consolation. If we win, you question why you've thrown money away betting against the greatest team the world has ever seen and think you should have had more confidence.

On the other hand, If I bet on us winning, then we inevitably lose. I then start thinking I jinxed it. I put a tenner on the certainty of us beating Stoke recently and probably have to accept my share of the responsibility for what happened....

No, best off steering clear altogether and just enjo-o-o-y the game.

I've just rung my bank to see if I can remortgage in time to stake the lot on us at -2 handicap.

Who is gonna be in charge for this game? Will it be one of the coaches or will we fly in an Italian caretaker to lead the players out?

I’m not actually sure how to remortgage the house.

Do you need to go into a branch or can you do it over the phone? Reckon I could get it processed in the next two hours?

To be honest - why would they not see this as a winnable game? They've had a pretty good start to their season, as have we. Both of us have played really rather well at times, and rather poorly at others.

Mostly we look like we can score against teams. Mostly we look like we are at dire risk of conceding to teams. It's unrealistic to think that any premier league opposition won't regard us as beatable. I don't really know what to expect from us at the moment. We are definitely better than we have been for years and I like the team. Doesn't mean I'm anywhere close to expecting us to win games.

Would rather have Okaka on the bench. Unless we get incredibly unlucky with injuries, there's no way Watson and Capoue will both come on.
