Do you feel Watford disrespected the cup and shortchanged the fans who travelled.

So they've only gone and given us the same referee that did the Bournemouth game who Deeney criticised and subsequently got fined 20k for.

After our game against Bournemouth, he reffed Man City 7-0 over Rotherham and then LUTON on the weekend and now back to Watford! Unbelievable, Watford, Man City, Luton, Watford.

Of all the referee's in England... what a coincidence.

Appointing Cootes to the game proves the FA have a better sense of humour than Gary Linekar.

The coin toss will offer a great opportunity for banter.

Unfortunately, Troy will probably take it.

I will be furious if we don't play a full strength team. Newcastle won't as they have a relegation battle to worry about so this is an excellent chance to progress.

While we are sitting 7th and have a plausible chance at Europe through the league, I still think an FA Cup run is far more likely to yield excitement. How nice it would be to have a second half of a season with something actually riding on it!

    Prediction:

    Newcastle 1-0 Watford
Deeney (og 1); Deeney (sent off for foul and abusive language 1), Cleverley (missed pen 90+9)

I doubt very much if we play our first team squad for this.
I think the Pozzos will prioritise finishing as high as possible in the league.
Not saying I agree with this though. I would like to see a decent cup run, beings as we are realistically safe from relegation.

It would be massively frustrating if we play the stiffs and lose this. Our first team is more than capable of demolishing Newcastle as we have already proved twice this season....

I'm sure the fact we have Spurs and Brighton away next week will mean there will be some changes but would prefer it if we did just two or 3 per game rather than change the whole side. Doucoure I'm sure won't play so I would imagine Quina will come in. Success for Deeney, maybe Peneranda for Pereyra and Gomes for Foster. Janmaat for Kiko is enforced and Masina for Holebas. I would also start Britos.
Actually that's quite a lot of changes!! I really have no idea what will happen but I do think this is a big opportunity to get to the latter stages of the cup but I said that when we played at Millwall a couple of years ago and we put in one of the worst performances I've seen during the Pozzo era.
I'm going to this for some reason so hoping we take it seriously and we've sold a few more than the 600 tickets we had sold last Friday!

I have been to all the Newcastle and Sunderland away games since we where promoted.
I would love to go to this, but I am not going all the way to Newcastle to watch our reserves.
This could be the year we at last get some silverware, but I have a gut feeling that it is not going to happen. Sadly.

On paper, our reserves are better than their reserves. Unfortunately matches aren't decided on paper.

Although it won't suit either team, I can see it ending in a boring 0-0.

I want Pendz to start and agree with @Knight GT post above.

We should give this a proper go. We almost won it under QSF so why not see if we can at least match our past selfs who played Everton on that fateful day and lost to one of two goals being Andy “I used to be on FIFA but got fired for being a racist bigot” Grey.

Play like we did for 45 mins in the leauge game and TAKE iour chances it should be rather comfortable. Blackburn ran them close and our second string is better than their first team.

If that happens we’ll huff n puff, won’t play well and lose after xtra time on pens.

Enjoy the trip, and you’ll have to sing loud to make up for the ‘cant be arsed until we get to the quarters’ contingent.

We will win. Whether it’s our first team, a mix of our first team and reserves, or just our reserve team, Newcastle have no interest in the FA cup. Rafa said so himself, they will play mostly u23’s trying to break into the first team with a few fringe first team players.

We battered them both games this season, the results just don’t have a true reflection of the game.

My main concern is avoiding the likes of Man City, Spurs and Chelsea in the next round. One of Arsenal and Man Utd are going out since they play each other, so that’s another top 6 team going to be gone at least.

I a perfect world we get Shrewsbury, Barnet or Gillingham at home, Man Utd get Man City, and Tottenham get Chelsea.

After reading about the 4 replays we had against Newcastle in the FA Cup back in 1989 I predict a draw which no-one will want!

Would really like to win this, we won’t get relegated, probably won’t finish 7th (hope 10 top though), so this really is something we should be focusing on.

I hope we play full strength team, with maybe a couple of fringe players like Pen(what ever he is called)

    Going for 1-3

Wow here we go again its pick on me time. I put one piece of banter in a post and get leapt on and slated as per usual.
I thought we were all past this.

In regards to the comment I made it was the ex commentator on Sky who was fired for sexual remarks in 2011. He was one of the scorers against us that day.

It was meant to be light hearted and I apologise for anyone I may of offended.

Ditto- we are on the 9am train from Kings X-like you i hope we do go for it from the off, only unlike the league game (which we also went to) we actually put the ball in the net at least 3 times without reply (in the 1st half !)

Any idea on how many we've actually sold because it doesn't sound like many from here are going. Are we going to have less than a 1000? Still more than the second replay all those years ago. I was at the game and it's the smallest following I can ever remember us taking anywhere. Seemed liked less than 100 but memory has faded a little
