The clearest hint yet, that Watford are looking to bring in a target man in January. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sp..._profile__of_January_transfer_target/?ref=rss
Thank god for that, at least the management are in agreement with the fans that Grey and Deeney aren't the answer.
Needs to be a striker with EPL experience as there will only be 16 games left at the most by the time he signs , so no time for settling in. Potential candidates thus far 1- Slimani - probably the most likely considering Silva connection and previous rumours . LIKELY 2- Giroud - only a small rumour he will go on loan in Jan although he is getting very little game time and WC is soon. NOT LIKELY 3- Batshuyai - Strong rumour he wants to go on loan and Chelsea don't want him . If he wants to stay in London then it's between Palace , West Ham and Watford . POSSIBLE 4 - Ighalo - Pure speculation based on fact he wants to come back to U.K.. He's not a target man which is what Silva was inferring but could fit into our system of play . A risky signing , as you have no idea which Ighalo may turn up . NOT LIKELY. There are a number of clubs looking for a striker in January , that would be looking at the same calibre player as us . Those being Everton , West Ham, Palace , Stoke, Newcastle and WBA. West Ham, Palace are in a relegation fight and have dour defensive managers . Everton and Newcastle are bigger clubs but also defensive managers and are up north. Stoke and WBA look they also might be in a relegation battle . So despite our smaller size, we represent a good place for a loan striker who wants to 1- play for a London team 2- And whos' attacking style of play will engineer lots of scoring chances for a striker who wants to put himself in the shop window .
Its obviously going to be Slimani Hasn't even been in the squad for their last 2 games (they stuck Ulloa on the bench ahead of him) probably already agreed a deal
Poor mans Fabrini mate, can't even get a game for a team that's averaging 1 goal a game this season. Either that or he is suffering from Okaka syndrome. Sorry to break the news, he's not coming.
Regarding Slimani....................somebody on the Leicester forum had this to say: https://www.foxestalk.co.uk/topic/114294-slimani-back-to-sporting-or-watford/ Maybe this is their equivalent of petrol station gossip? Or maybe Slimani is actually moving to the area which would make it seem likely he's coming here?? To be honest, I don't know enough about him to say whether he's worth whatever they will charge. But it's clear we need to do something with the CF position as we can't continually rely on goals from midfield and defence.
Brighton have had an 18 million bid for Moussa Dembele accepted by Celtic, personally I think that would be a great signing.
Fuming about Moussa Dembele. What's the point of being shrewd negotiators when one of the best young strikers around is going to a rival for the same price you paid for a dud.
Well, the Brighton local paper has denied it and so have both clubs. So it’s not as far down the link as the usual ‘Sky Sources’ would have you believe. People do rave about the lad but I’d be sceptical of paying £20m+ for a player who doesn’t always start for Celtic when all he has to do is compete with Leigh Griffiths and Scott Sinclair. We simply canny afford to sign another striker who may be hit or miss.
Arent there any championship players banging in the goals in the first team?. Rather risk one of them in the January transfer window than an existing bench warming dud.
Dembele has scored a few goals in the Championship and a few in the SPL where Scott Sinclair is the best player. If we paid £18m I have a feeling we’d be tossing it down the toilet. He doesn’t even always start for Celtic.
Dembele is head and shoulders above Gray in terms of quality. Indeed top clubs have been tracking him for some time. He was never ever going to Brighton for only 18 million. Our problem is we have already tossed the money down the toilet so we can't compete for someone of his ilk. I would rather get an in form Vyds back than pay a fortune for Slimani.
J*rgen Locadia from PSV would be a great striker. Only 24 and has plenty of pace. Has 9 goals and 2 assists so far this season.
A massive risk in my book - he might come good in the premier league but I don’t see big clubs falling over themselves to get him
