Going well so far. Been trying out customisations and styles and colours etc, but I'm starting to think that maybe an all yellow and red site isn't particularly attractive. The default bluey greys don't look too bad, so I'm thinking of installing it as default colours and slowly customizing it over time. Default looks much more professional than stuff I've seen so far. I could also let loose the designers from here on the test area and get you to try some styles out too. Anyway, main reason for posting this is to let you know that work is in progress.
red lettering would be a bit harsh on a yellow background but if you could get a gentle red background with a not so harsh yellow would be good.
You could fade the colours though. Black text on a plain yellow background is OK. and a pinky red would be OK for the background to banner titles. You could go to our original blue though.
I've been in contact with Stuart who ran the WFCF forum earlier this year, (good job I never throw e-mails away). He's got back to me and said he still has the graphics from wfcf so we'll see what happens. Hopefully he'll pop in some time today and say hello.
Don't like too much yellow and red, but red and grey or yellow and black works well.... The following is why red and yellow don't always work, (ignore the blue, it was just a very quick test)
Dont think it's too bad. Yellow is a bit bright though. Red text should really be avoided as it's used for alerts etc.
mmm, maybe much more subtle yellow all over and black text rather than red. Maybe go for a bit more red in the graphics etc? Not much testing time tonight due to the match, but will work on it soon as.
Not bad, swap the midnight blue for a dark maroon and it'll be a bit more Watford. I woul go for a much paler yello, maybe post-0it type colour.
mmmm.... With a banner accross the top, it should look better, can we not put a image-like background instead of plain? I do like it though, the best so far.The dark red looks good, the lighter of the yellows may be a little wishy-washy and it could maybe be made a bit bolder; but overall i think it looks very good.
A banner at the top is a formality, if we can get the boards looking OKish without one, it will kick a55 with one. Please keep up any comments and suggestions, I like to hear what you think and your ideas. I'll definately try a slightly bolder yellow instead of the washed out effect, and put hornmeisters quick banner at the top some tme tomorrow. Also, anything blue like the new post icons will go eventually. One more thing, the red headers could well give way to images if I find the code, and the whole background could be an image set into yellow or something close. It'll look good eventually!
It's a good sign if you're liking it already with so much more to change. I've discovered the background image workings now, so all I need is a decent image burnt into the yellow of the background and it'll start looking very good. Long way to go yet, and still not sure when to upgrade. Before the Arsenal game I think!
maybe the WFC logo faded into the BG colour, i say faded so that it doesnt interfere with the lettering. I should be able to get a faded copy of the BG to you, if i can get my damn PSP working
The lighter background colour would probably be FFFF7F, (light yellow), so I'd like something embedded into it sort of like the following image, just lighter. What I'd ideally like is a bit more depth, just dont have time right now, and probably angled. See what you come up with!

To me less is more. I think with the words and the logo in the background it's too much. Fosters banner will have all the graphics we need on the front page, then once inside the forums you'll have avatars, banners, etc etc. I'd like to have something subtle, just words, sort of sunk into the yellow background. It doesn't even need to be coloured, just shadows would be cool. Were definately heading somewhere though, this is just the beginning.
