I do hope that we retain the Moose/Hart/Stag somewhere on the new badge. It's our identity and depicts where we're from - the crest of the town of Watford has a stag and so does the crest of the county of Hertfordshire. OK, I understand the club wants to reach out globally but please respect the past as well.
Ah ok. Fair enough. Maybe they're looking for something similar to the top of the back of last year's shirt. The outline of the hornet .
My favourite image of a hornet that I've found, in terms of the shape and how it might translate in to a badge, and the general mood, is this one below. Something could be done to simplify it/make it bolder, so its pretty much just two-tone club yellow and black (obviously the finger and extra details around the edges would need to be removed). I've started messing around with the contrast etc., and might try going a bit further to see what I can make from it, but I expect some point very soon I'm going to hit the limit of my computer drawing/design abilities. The main problem would be filling in the missing parts of the legs, body and wings.
Literally just keep it the same but replace the hart with a hornet. Simple. Our badge is already unique and recognisable. It's a good badge, and most new ones that clubs are rolling out these days are horribly generic. I literally do not understand the need for any sort of major change.
A wasp stung me on my intimate man parts last summer. The result was a real “ take away the pain it leave the swelling” moment. I’m happy to take one for the team, and provide the photo to the club to use as the badge
The odd thing about W/burg is that it is really villagey but only 2 stops from the middle of the city. It’s a self conscious piece of SF in NYC.
If we end up with some cartoon nonsense on the badge I'll go support a local non league side instead.
I recently invested in a new traveling case. In bright yellow. To the knowing eye, I scream Hornet. Saw it from fifty paces on the carousel.
We will call each other by our forum names the whole time. Maybe even best to sit together and converse solely through the shoutbox.
The main problem is it’s a Johnny Foreigner Asian Hornet and you’ve got a wolf in the corner. It’s a no from me.
A bit like the badge of the Green Hornet.. or this random pendant thing.. Personally i think we will end up with something like what was on the back of last seasons shirt.
Any rumours about the away kit - I'm assuming that as the new home is quite a bold design, the away is going to be a bit dull?
