I voted for the new badge. I’m young and confident enough that the world isn’t leaving me behind #OKboomer
A is strong, bold, vibrant colours, clean lines. Moosey doesn’t unfortunately have good horns (for a Hertfordshire stag) and has human eyes. But the badge is strong, different from the crowd and stands out from a distance. B has too soft lines, washed out yellow, too fussy, entomological museum pinned Hornet specimen. It’s not a strong replacement and doesn’t stand out from a distance. Need a strong outline, bold colour image with a strong hornet. I’m open to change but not for this weak replacement. B doesn’t work so it’s REMAIN from me until we have a second referendum with a better Hornet image. Edit: which is what BW Horn said.
B is crap, but the compounding problem is that A is also crap so it's like being forced to choose which Boyzone song is your favourite.
There is no way B actually ever won. This is like pop idol and Britain’s Got Talent. The winner was already picked before the show started. It’s all a scam into getting you to think the club actually gives a crap about your opinion. They don’t. The competition was fixed from the start. B has already won. Even if the current badge gets the most votes, you will never know. It will all be swept under the rug and fiddled with behind the scenes. I can already picture the language the club will use. “It was such a close vote, you could sense the urgency to stay with the current badge, but the new badge just pips it. The moose will live long in the memory of the clubs history, but now it’s time for the future. Starting the 20/21 season WFC will have a makeover.”
I am up for a badge change, but not for the one currently being offered. So it's a no from me, reluctantly I'd rather stick to what we have.
that happened to me and then it went the other way. we have currently a brash cartoonish bright standout thing. Let’s go more subtle. As others have said if you had to start again Now and we didn’t have moosey I think many would pick the second. we have had other badges before let’s have something different
Your vote means **** all as the club decided a while back to change the badge, not sure why they're going through all this effort. You'd of thought they'd of been able to come up with something better than that monstrosity, absolutely shocking.
You forgot the marketing drivel about how it'll help us engage with new international markets blah blah blah
I wonder how much the ****wits in charge of our club paid to get that monstrosity designed? Stripping away our identity and relegation all in the same season. The pozzo's are truly spoiling us.
Voted for the new badge for a laugh. Like I did when I voted Leave. What's the worst that can happen? Lol
I'm pretty sure I'm going to stick with the moose. A I like the idiosyncratic nature of a club nick -named the Hornets having a moose on their badge, which is really supposed to be a Hart. Only crappy branding-consultants would think that's wrong. Supporting football is irrational, anyway. B I support Watford for personal, traditional reasons and I want to stick with it. C The hornet badge is rather disappointing, I think. It's not actually bad, but it has a slightly bland, clunking, compromising earnestness about it; this is an opinion I find a bit hard to justify - even to myself. It's the sort of thing you'd want if you were starting the club from scratch, which we are not.
Voted to keep the "Hart" as in "Hartfordshire", it's on the town of Watford badge, it's on the county of Hertfordshire badge. Tradition and history is important. It's an acknowledgement of where we are and where we are from. It's where the emotion and passion comes from, shows how feel in your "Hart". The alternative badge could have incorporated the Hart to bring the old along with the new but no, the powers that be are determined to force the issue one way or the other. Anecdotally, from discussions in the 1881 and across the Rookery, I think there will be a very big vote for the current badge. Who knows about those in China or USA? or those with a digital key to secure the outcome they want?
If they'd put forward the design that kept the original shape and had the angry hornet facing out, I'd still have voted for moosey but wouldn't have been too disappointed if the hornet had won. Sadly the design they've selected is flimsy and weak compared to what we currently have and it will be a travesty if it wins!
Maybe we should have had a vote on whether we want to get rid of the old badge - and had the club telling us that we'll have a new better hart, but a hornet badge is better than no badge. Then we could have left it to the board of directors to pick a new one without any further input from the fans, saying everyone voted for a hornet and that's what they want.
My missus knows naff all about football and cares less. She calls us the "Buzzy Bees" to wind me up. She knows more about rebranding than anyone at Watford as she used to be MD of a large advertising agency. Her view about rebranding, having done so many of them, was that they are often the product of a bored marketing department trying to justify their existence and spark life into their importance. She said when you actually add up the cost to change (as all branding, signs and even stationery changes) versus what £££ will come in afterwards, for most companies the new income and cost isn't worth it. But the egos press on.... Her views about the comments about the new badge needing this or that "tweaked" recall one of the Head of Creatives throwing a massive strop in a meeting with a he client making similar comments about a new logo he'd been working on for ages and ages long into the night. "This isn't fecking creative fuzzy felt!" Like any Council or consultation abou say, HS2 - they've already decided to change, and the "consultation" is a sham (my experience with local government, not my wife's)
Maybe the club have realised what a car crash this is and have put this shocking effort up for a vote to allow them to stay with the current badge without losing face.
Wow, Impressive WW - did you marry above your station? (Lol) Btw, I agree with everything she said. Corporates playing egos and justifying existences when usually all that’s needed is a tweak update on a logo.
Many moons ago I worked for the Baltic States' representative of Spirax-Sarco (they're a British engineering success story and produce the gold platinum standard for steam management equipment). I spent a week at HQ in Cheltenham (very nice) for 'training' and was invited to sit in on a presentation (I was the Vilnius office manager) from a group of "Brand Management Consultants" (they were looking at massive sales expansion into Eastern Europe) who pointed out that, amongst many other things, Spirax-Sarco's name was too "...unwieldy...". I can't help but notice that some 20 years later Spirax-Sarco is still called Spirax-Sarco...
Unforunately a Moose isn't a Hart at all and is resident in Scandinavia and Canada. Not Hertfordshire. If the person responsible for the Moose had had the perspicacity to do a bit of research and draw a Hart (Red Deer stag) in the first place then we probably wouldn't need to be having this discussion now.
Sorry, I'm all for change, but not for the lame effort. Who actually voted for that badge? Would of saved a lot of time and effort to just change our nickname to the mooses!!
