Not massive wages apparently (in relative terms!). He is on 30k per week, we have paid 20 apparently. Still half a million wasted!
I'd be happy with £3k a week, sign me up as I can't do any worse than Ndong seeing as he has never actually played for us
Weird loan but at least that's all it was. Probably worse for Sunderland than us especially as he was one of their most expensive signings
Is it compulsory that every year we have to name in our 22 players that aren't allowed anywhere near the Team!
Don't worry. We only took him on loan as part of a deal to sign the up and coming Joel Asoro, who'll end up fading into obscurity within a year and being loaned to some team in Belgium.
Ah, Ndong. The one player we signed in case we picked up another injury, only for nobody to visit the treatment table after Cleverley
Greatest scouting network in the world: Rafael Romo Jean-Alain Fanchone Lucas Neill Neuton Matthew Briggs Samba Diakite Ndong (c) Diamante Ibarbo Park Chu Young Oulare
I'm hoping after a few more windows we'll also be able to list an entire XI of dreadful players from one of those super agents who repeatedly has Gino's pants down!
Apart from the straight red in his first game I think I remember a few moments of good football from him in those half dozen games he played.
Samir Handanovic Kwadwo Asamoah Mehdi Benetia Christian Zapata Kiko Allan Doucoure Zielinksi Pererya Cuadrado Sanchez Operating a scouting network and mass recruitment policy like the Pozzos do will always end in plenty of duds. You just hope that you end up with more quality players than do you do duds (or at least earn more off them).
Why not? Pererya was signed by Udinese in 11/12 from River Plate, before getting sold to Juve. I can't say I knew about Kiko before he signed for us.
Doh ! You must have heard of Sanchez ? Used to play for Wimbledon ? Went on to manage Wycombe and Barnet ...?
I don't dispute that for a moment, I've said for a while that the Pozzo network seems to be based on volume rather than quality. They sign tens of young players ever year, hoping that one or two are gems. It's been successful so far, but it's not because they are masters of picking a player, it's because they sign so many highly rated players from lesser leagues that some are bound to be a success.
Exactly, it's ridiculously hard to be able to tell how a young player will develop. That's why people claim the Pozzo scouting network is the best, due to the number of class players that they have uncovered usually for a very small fee. Nobody is claiming they're the most efficient scouting network in the world.
My vote would be to give him until Xmas, then if we are looking hopeless we get in another coach, we need stability changing all the time is not always the answer!
Yet you advocate sacking the current coach after a possible 11 months in charge? Hardly sounds like stability.
Roberto Pereyra was one of the hottest young talents in Europe playing for River Plate who have also produced the likes of Pablo Aimar, Maschenaro, Saviola, Lamela, Falcao & Higuain amongst others, anyone could tell you to keep an eye on their youth plus Boca, Corinthians etc. As for Kiko he has played for both Real Madrid and Barcelona AND played 31 games in La Liga hardly came out of nowhere!? I'm not discrediting the network but some signings can be made by an average fan, I'm more impressed by the signings of Alexis Sanchez who aren't in such plain sight.
It's not necessarily that they came out of nowhere, good scouting is about identifying a need or recognising a potential talent and getting the deal done THEN that player performing. Despite River Plates record for talent, it's safe to say that not every player there could go and do a job in Serie A or the Premier League, not to mention landing him for just €2m which even in 2011 was a bargain. Kiko had never played for Barca or Real other than their B teams and had one season in La Liga - I'm sure plenty on here had him down as a flop when we signed him. My original point still stands, the scouting network identified and most likely helped get the deal over the line, therefore they're credited for "finding" them, even if the finding term is loosely thrown about.
There shouldn't be because he's reportedly going to Torino. http://www.skysports.com/football/n...17dong-close-to-leaving-sunderland-for-torino http://www.insidewalessport.co.uk/c...-out-on-transfer-target-didier-ndong-reports/
Thank god we didn't follow up our interest in this guy. Sunderland have terminated his contract seeing as he did not return to pre-season training and has not been seen since. Sunderland will want to recover losses from the player as well as pursue any club that signs him for compensation for the value of the player......not sure how they can do that if they have terminated his contract, although they may hold on to his registration until 2021. If you needed an example of a "bad egg" player, he's your guy. https://www.safc.com/news/team-news/2018/september/ndong-statement
