He’s very good. I’ve had tickets to see him since mid 2019 which I’m still waiting to use thanks to a combination of him getting laryngitis and then lockdown.

Not for me, I think it’s a farty old dirge. Of course I wouldn’t be remotely bothered by it if I didn’t hear it 10 times a day on adverts and that.

 

I do love a bit of Neil Diamond.

Delighted to hear that in addition to his steely midfield performances, Dan can also carry a tune.

 

Obviously an Ivic favourite. With his non-football, can’t buy a thrill is totally apposite.

The album, Dark Matters, is an absolute stonker! Their best for 40 years and a suitable tribute to Dave Greenfield who succumbed to covid last year. Even got to number 4 in this week's chart, pop pickers!

Have you seen this 2008 interview of Hugh Cornwell. Very articulate and tells how the stranglers got together and how he left etc

 

Yeah, it was a good interview. Bit more animosity towards the band now though, sadly. As for the charts, it's the way these days, hype an LP in multiple formats to get a high placing for a week, then forget it!

 

I saw the Stranglers a lot in the early days and a few times recently. I like Baz and on the whole prefer him to Hugh. I think he’s more likeable and more accomplished, but it was Hugh’s drive and songs that got them going.

 

Favourite artist of the moment is Carol Hodge. Carol has a punky past, but her solo stuff is much more mainstream singer-songwriter. Her songs are great and for an artist with a tiny following excellently produced and realised.
