Been no solid rumours and he’s clearly seen as one of our two RM options as far as I can see. Only Markovic or Gaitan maybe would see him added to the list but I doubt either will happen.

My favourite Molly since that one from The Breakfast club. And that bag of ‘stuff’ I had one night in a club - but I can’t really remember that.

 

Bit disappointed we haven't gone out and got a cb who is a real upgrade on what we had but hopefully we have a decent enough squad to get us to January and then maybe players will see us as being a more established team

Who Scored and a couple of other websites list passing as a main weakness, and as silly as it may sound on the face of it both Football Manager and FIFA have his passing and technical ability rated very, very low.

Out of interest what do they give for his defensive attributes? Danny Shittu was pretty decent for us but he wasn't exactly good on the ball, in fact, the one time he tried to be composed and not just head the ball away Paul Robinson (the goal keeper) scored

 

So a faster version of Britos, Kaboul and Cathcart

 

Not too bad, not spectacular but decent enough. Could well be right that he's possibly in the Shittu mould as he is listed as being very, very physically strong.

 

And Prodl... and every other centre back we have.

At the end of the day a centre backs job is to defend well first and foremost, I just wish we had a centre back with a bit of composure and ability on the ball. It's frustrating watching the likes of Britos hoof awful passes forward and lose possession.

 

I'll give Prodl his dues as he's not bad on the ball.

However, with both Wague and Marvin at least we have some pace at the back, that's been my major concern. Hopefully this means the defence can push up and press further up the field.

From where I sit, it's become pretty clear that Prodl is indispensable at CB in this squad. He is the one who consistently (operative word) shows defensive composure.

If this guy can complement Prodl with the physical strength people are citing as well as consistently composed and solid defending, it would be an upgrade on our current starting 11 regardless of the gulf between the two in terms of ball control and distribution ability.

Prodl has quite a bit of that most of the time but none of the other options can match him as a defender. Britos is bloody wreckless at times, Kaboul doesn't seem to offer consistency, kabasele is fast and actually seems pretty good on the ball but his defending hasn't ever really looked totally convincing.

Twice a year we have to endure the incredible tedium of 90 minutes against West Brom. Physicality is everything in those wrestling matches. Maybe some absolute monstrosity of a defender is worth having on the books if we aren't in a position to make a statement signing in that area.

 

This year we spent our money improving the middle of the park and up top. Next year we will sure up the defence with big money signings. I can also see us getting Karnezis in a permanent next summer. As for Wague, I guess we just didn't have lots of money to buy a big name CB do taking someone from the family on loan was a risk free move for all.
