Michael Mifsud is apparently being targeted by Sheffield United, Watford, Man city and Coventry Mifsud was the subject of interest from Coventry City over the summer but Lillestrom rejected the Championship side's bid. However, the player who scored 11 goals in 19 league games this season is available on a free transfer in January and is currently decidng what is best for himself. A number of clubs from the top two divisions of English football are believed to be interested in the Maltese hit-man, and Mifsud has admitted he is keen to test himself at a higher level. "For me it is not a matter of money, but to get the most out of my career," Mifsud told Nettavisen. i very much doubt the reliability of this source, however a friend sent it to me saying that he was told we were scouting him; and as this is a rumours page i thought i'd post it
"For me it is not a matter of money, but to get the most out of my career," Mifsud told Nettavisen" sounds good
I have reservations about this... look at Prisken.. proven in the league he was in but not able to cut it for us... whats to say Misfud would be any different, I think that if there is any truth in it Aidy should think twice, we need a proven goal scorer at this level not another player that can score at a much lower level but will POSSIBLY bring nothing to the side. Nothing to say he wont.. but who knows that much about him?
Thinking Priskin is more of a mid term put. Reckon he will come good towards the end of the season and into next.
I agree with faith, we have plenty of good quality players with bright futures ahead of them, what we need and fast is a good quality player who is in his bright future.
This guy is from Malta i belive and used to play for maltese side Birkirka or something along those lines.
Birkirkara FC play in the maltese premier league. there is also another mifsud playing there Ryan mifsud, and a Jean Pierre Mifsud Triganza... seems mifsud is a popular name out there!
Aidy has stated himself Tomas is one for the future. the headed goal in Denmark was pure class. i have every confidence in him becoming a good player as long as the club offers him the right guidance and support.
I remember him being good for me in Football Manager 2006. So he must have some talent. I wonder if the Watford scouts have been lazy and are using FM to suss out good players!!
Is that the same club where we brought H from? Well providing he doesn't want a big pay packet sounds like a decent option for a free transfer when you consider some of the inflated fees some British strikers will cost.
Source: www.Skysports.com Talks over Michael Mifsud's future are ongoing, his representative has confirmed - but he has denied quotes attributed to his charge made in the English media. Mifsud was quoted on Sunday claiming that he was ready to accept an offer from Sheffield United. However, his agent Mark Taylor has played down the reports that a deal has already been struck with the Premiership club. "The News of the World report was inaccurate," Taylor told skysports.com. "Michael has not made any sort of comment that has been attributed to him, and as we said there are a number of inaccuracies in the report. "There are a number of clubs looking at him, from England but also from across Europe." While Sheffield United are understood to be interested, the likes of Coventry, Bolton, Reading, Watford, Norwich and Crystal Palace have all been credited with an interest in the Malta international who can move for free when the transfer window re-opens in January. Mifsud has just finished the Norwegian season with Lillestrom but his contract with them has expired. Looks like a bit of a struggle if we are going to land him now.
If Big Sam wants he must have something about him. And Reading don't sign carp. People have said it before but look at Doyle. That was a steal. How much was he again? Actually don't remind me!!
