Expected it seems by just about everyone.
The people on here who you decry have between us many many years of supporting Watford and so have become fairly aware of how long a player is likely to be out when a certain injury is mentioned. This does not apply to an individual problem as often one proves to be harder to mend and another easier - but we have got used to a rough idea of how long we lose players for after injury. Is our experience of viewing this not worth anything?
Certainly it now proves "expected by the club" - hence their action
Certainly "expected by the medical team" who put out various estimates and then fail to meet them
Certainly "expected by players" who have been reported at being frustrated by not returning to play sooner.
Who else do you want to have an expectation?
I know you want to imply the medical team are not at fault but there clearly has been a failing - the club at least say so.

I have an image of Britos waiting outside the Head of Medical's room for the all clear for the last two months. Probably smells a bit by now.

I think we are lucky to have such a proactive owner. When there’s a problem, it generally gets attended to very fast. Ditto with our head coaches. It might make us look unstable and full of flux to outsiders, but if something isn’t working we aren't afraid to change. Plenty of other clubs wouldn’t act so fast and might suffer as a result.

It was a joke. I seem to recall you saying how English wasn’t your first language hence surprise when you said something along the lines of “you muppet” in another post.

The above just makes your quoted post look like pot kettle.

Oh, I know all the sayings, don't worry about that. I'm speaking English all the time, but occasionally I may pick the wrong word or make a spelling mistake. But the forum always lets me know about it.....bless. You guys have a lot of words that sound the same but are spelt differently. I've got "their, there and they're" nailed down now though. :D

Not that I am remotely upset, just interested, but why am I on your ignore list? Have I annoyed you or do you find my posts that boring?
I find that there is something of interest posted by just about everyone on here, so I ignore no-one - even at the risk of increasing my blood pressure sometimes.....

I consider myself honoured to be whooooooooshed (note spelling) by such a forum aristocrat as yourself.

Back to the Medical Department I suggest.

A bad run of injuries could be just that, but when it's stretched out over 2 seasons, with recovery times 2 or 3 months over the expected return date and there are statements from the head coach himself (who admittedly is a **** so may be unreliable) it's hardly beyond the burden of proof for internet forums that something is awry

Something is awry with the team. Had we carried on winning, which we did after Chalobah and without numerous creaky defenders, no one would have noticed. It’s not clear to me we started losing merely because Hughes and Femenia weren’t available.

This is RIDICULOUS  So he's in the conversation for our most important player. He's already been out for 20 games. Now, promised a new medical appraisal that will be 'more positive' than some sources have led us to believe, we are then told that nope, actually he'll be out for at least another couple of months.

We need to BUY SOMEONE to replace him!

We should have ******* done it on January 1st, knowing what they clearly always have done about his condition. If, as is heavily suggested, and incredibly bloody likely, Cleverley is indeed injured this weekend, then we will once again have to field one of Capoue or Watson in central midfield. THAT IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH. If that becomes another longer term situation, it could honestly be something that ends up being the difference between staying up and relegation. We've suffered enough at its hands already.

I cannot understand how this has become such a f.uck-around, and I cannot understand how nothing has been done about it. It's abundantly clear that we can't rely on those reserve players to put in a requisite level of performance to enable us to compete. How on earth has it come to this?!

I suspect that they will now wait for this new doctor to assess all the injured, give a time-frame and then targets may drawn up from that - I hope. But I do agree, that of all the injuries Chalobah’s was obviously the most long term - I still think there are areas that needs looking at more in terms of quality but in basic terms, it’s baffling that one of our starting XI midfielders has a long-term injury and no replacement has been sought early in the window. Even if they feel we have enough numbers to cover, it’s clear we don’t have the quality - so buy better quality and sell one of the lesser ones that you mentioned above. It’s not rocket science.

I completely agree that we have several far more pressing concerns in terms of position, that we have also brilliantly not addressed yet, but this is a situation that has been forced upon us, that we know action needs to be taken on, unfortunate as that may be, and yet we have done nothing, as you say.

We just don't really have a choice on this. This should have altered our plans, instead it appears to have done nothing at all. Inexplicable.

The article on the new medical director didn't specify what players would be mentioned in the update. And training in February is better than training in March.

The Capoue Watson partnership wasn't any good under Quique, it certainly won't be any good two years down the line.

This Dr Emilio is a very good appointment. Not sure how much on-site work he’ll do, as he has fingers in lots of pies but hopefully he’ll put methods in place and will employ the best people in order to improve the medical department.

I’m very impressed the club managed to get someone of his calibre, so well done to them for achieving this.

Obviously that partnership wouldn't do us any good now but it's a bit harsh to say they weren't any good under Quique. For the first half of the season they were brilliant.

Re Silva, some credit should be given to him for bringing this issue out into the open. Clearly frustrated behind the scenes and eventualy goes public and gets results.

I think it bodes well that he cares and has pride about his job and his product i.e. results on the pitch enough to jepodies his relationship with the owners. This is healthy. Any of us called out our employer? I have and It was scary, not so difficult for Silva as he will be confident of work elsewhere.

I'm not disagreeing with that point. Despite injuries, the players we have available should be good enough to have got more points than they have during this dismal run.

That doesn't mean that the injury situation isn't completely farcical, however.

Without wishing to sound like a miserable old git, this, for me is the real worry.
It is Silva's job to coach the team.
Yes he must be spitting feathers at the number and length of the injuries but as the saying goes 'do what you can, where you are, with what you have'.
I would have a lot more respect and confidence in Silva if he corrected some of our fundamental flaws and quickly too.

Yeah, and training in March is better than training in April, just like training now would be better than training in February. So what? What point is that?

According to the article, it's not even guaranteed that he will be training in February, and it's far from a safe bet given our medical department.

I agree but we don’t know that Silva doesn’t spend 50% of his time drilling Zeegelaar, Janmaat and Watson about tracking back at full pelt when we lose position up the pitch - only to see them continually let him down week in, week out on matchday. He’s only allowed up to the boundaries of his technical box, it’s the players who go over the white line and some of them aren’t doing the most obvious parts of their roles on the pitch. And he doesn’t have the options at the moment to swap those underperformers out.

Silva obviously likes his team’s to play with a certain identity which I agree is attack more than defend but I fail to believe he doesn’t work them at all defensively. Ultimately he is the manager of them so it falls on his head but he can’t control what the players do on the pitch and a lot of them are letting him down with just the basics.

A new manager might make the whole team defensively sounder but he won’t make those players better defensively IMO - they simply can’t defend very well. And if we got a manager who makes teams tighter defensively, (QSF, Pulis, Allardyce) it would be a few months before people complain about the style of football and lack of attacking impoteus.

The point is that the rumours were Chalobah wouldn't be back in training until March, therefore this update is more positive because he could be training in a couple of weeks. Or is that too difficult to understand?

I wonder if there will be any news on Britos’s bruise seeing as we are entering week 9 since he walked off the pitch with the blemish?

Gracia has no idea when any players will return either according to his quote so it wasn’t just Silva playing games. 10 players unavailable and they are “not in the best condition”. Shambolic.

Personally I was never under the belief Silva was holding back that knowledge, he just chose to not adapt to the squad he had fit.

With so many players out injured I wonder if some of our players have been less than processional in their recovery? All speculation obviously.
