Sadly he banged his knee getting out of his car this morning. Badly bruised but hopes to be back before the end of the season.

Maybe the 10 players who are injured are simply injured and neither Dr Emilio nor any amount of fans mewling about the issue like cats at teatime is going to make for a miraculous recovery.

Maybe. In which case some information to the supporters or at the very least, the manager would seem to be required ? MS claimed he didn't know what was wrong with some of the players and when they would be back. Britos, Femenia, etc. Perhaps they are incompetant and just can't work out what is wrong with them ?

Why do I need information? I presume that they will get them back on the field when they can. There is no reason for me to suspect that qualified medical staff can't diagnose a sports injury.

I'm in no rush to add pressure to their decisions - we've seen returns that were possibly too early by Cathcart, Janmaat, Pereyra and Femenia already this season.

  5. The undeniable truth

The undeniable truth First Team Captain

I'm sure the manager would like to know ? The fact is MS said he didn't and as you suggest some of the returns seem to have been too early. Have they actually managed to fix and return to duty any injured players so far this season ? TD maybe. Prodl and Pereyra have both returned but even they seem shadows of their pre-injury selves.

Come off it Moose. I accept people want different things out of this silly game we all follow but that line of argument could be used with any concern people have. Although I don't buy in to the 'injury apocalypse' line some have been touting, as sometimes it just happens, I don't think anyone can defend the level of communication from the club.

Ever since I can remember they've given pretty regular information about injuries and guesstimates of likely return. Yet in the last 18 months it's stopped almost completely. I can't see any sporting advantage gained by that, and other clubs continue to do it, so it's not unfair for people to pick them up on it. Some missing players are so shrouded in mystery it's no wonder rumours of incompetence or behind the scene shenanigans have crept in.

I’m not really concerned with what MS said whilst trying to excuse our poor run.

There is information, the papers print it, it’s quoted at press conferences and up on sites like ‘transfermarket’. We had plenty of info on Pereyra and Zarate that proved largely accurate.

Lot’s of other info has proved less accurate, but I imagine that’s the nature of sports injuries. It’s also no surprise that it does not coincide with a reporter’s first guess in the match review immediately afterwards. Disappointing all round but there it is.

I do understand your point, but why do you think that we as fans don't have a right to question things about this? From what I can see, the club sometimes provide information that is patchy at best regarding injuries. 3 or 4 weeks ago, they put an Instagram picture out of Hughes training saying he was back in action - low and behold, he's not been seen since and we hear a tiny bit of info that he's had a setback and over a month from returning. Whilst we can't affect that as fans, I agree, do we not have a right to ask why this is happening over and over again with our players?

    Also, this....

'Dr Emilio will have a mandate to recruit as required and expects to provide a detailed update on the current injury situation early next week – and, for some, that will be a more positive picture than has been recently portrayed.'

Now that 'detailed update' may well have meant that it was an update that would be shared internally and not externally to fans. I can't see why not though. And it is publicly shared on the website and states 'early next week', meaning this week. This statement was made 8 days ago and Gracia says he has no clearer idea of when players are returning. Fans are entitled to think that the noises coming out of the club are erratic and frankly shambolic in their nature.

I don’t really mean that there should be nothing at all. Before every game there is widely reported news.

However it’s become an utterly hysterical obsession on here, with fans endlessly poring over each word the club releases with a mixture of high anxiety and cynicism.

Given that recoveries are hard to predict it’s hardly surprising the club looks daft at times and retreats a little. They could tell fans the absolute truth (as they understand it at that time) and some would still be up in arms merely because Will’s dodgy hammy now takes 8 weeks not 4. Some see this as Kennedy assassination level disinformation.

I think most people are adults and will accept if people have setbacks. But at least tell us they've had one. Britos is AWOL, Kaboul we found out weeks after he was expected back had broken his metatarsal and I don't think the club have ever officially said what happened to Chalobah or the nature of his injury beyond the bit that was hurty. It's not disinformation. It's just plain ole no information.

I'm not sure that is true about Chalobah and Kaboul's is hardly suspicious. Kaboul has not played for ages - getting the latest out about another setback is not the greatest priority, we can live without it. As for Britos, it is worth remembering that any individual's medical records are their personal and private information. It is always possible that someone has a condition that cannot be shared.

This was the Chalobah news article:

    https://www.watfordfc.com/teams/first-team/injury-news-nathaniel-chalobah

There's been nothing else official since. The national papers carried a bit more at the time which gave slightly more detail but it was all unattributed.

As for Britos, although I accept your point that it could be something private, the likelihood of that is pretty slim. Even when that is the case clubs can be quite creative. Clarke Carlisle had a made up but complicated-sounding injury for quite some time while he was actually off with depression.

Isn't engagement with fans something most good clubs pride themselves on? Is it so strange that fans would like to know which players are suffering from which injury and be given estimates of when we can expect to see them again. Just seems good manners and good practice to me.

Right let’s be clear, wanting info on injuries isn’t strange. Going endlessly mental about it on social media is, however, very strange.

The norm in transgender cases is for the subject to change their first name.

Are you suggesting that we now have the delightful company of Miguel Bridget?

    Or Bridget Britos?

Or that Uruguay is a foreign country; they do things differently there?

With Chalobah there was a previous update where it talked about the injury being a stress fracture of the knee cap. In other words he had been living with it and it was getting worse.

It's the degree of 'the clubs a ******* joke, sort it out' and 'why won't they tell us the troof' here and on twitter that makes you wonder for the sanity of the species.

A big update today from the club which is basically 'it's as it we told you it was.'

I've travelled this old world of ours from Barnsley to Peru,
I've had sunshine in the arctic and a swim in Timbuktu,
I've seen unicorns in Burma and a Yetti in Nepal,
And I've danced with ten foot pygmies in a Montezuma hall,
I've met the King of China and a working Yorkshire miner -
But I've never seen a fit Younes Kaboul!

I don’t think the club has been a shambles in terms of the actual injuries and am willing and understanding of it just being bad luck - even if I think more or less every injured player has had a ‘setback’ as they put it, which some may question.

I do think the club has been erratic in the nature of their reporting of injuries and the rehabilition times of players. Fans just want to see the best players playing so will rightfully want the information on when we they can expect that. There has been a scattering if vague info every now and then. Hopefully today’s update marks an improvement on that front.

Having players injured isn't strange. Having a few out at once is not abnormal. Having a player return from injury only to injure himself even worse can happen. Having players slated for a comeback, who disappear for months thereafter raises a few eyebrow. Having the best part of a full first team injured, with no return in sight for many, with recurring injuries to multiple players, that's a ******* madhouse

The good news is the club are clearly reading this forum and so have just put an update on the website.
However that may be just to give a positive recovery outlook to justify the fact that there will be no transfer activity this month !!!!

**** me, Kaboul is actually back in training, and Cathcart to return to training next week.

TC back in training and Hughes back in full training in 2 weeks.

Breaking news: Kaboul slipped on the stairs walking out to the training pitch. Fell in to Cleverley and they knocked a big potted plant over which took out Will Hughes and Cathcart. All expected back in time for the 19/20 season. The plant pot is back in action tomorrow.

"Will Hughes, Miguel Britos and Kiko Femenía are all progressing well following assessments yesterday. All three are commencing pitch rehabilitation, with Hughes on course for a return to full training in the next two weeks."
So Britos and Femenia are still > 2 weeks away from full training

Well its nice to hear something but then I remember reading Prodl was always just a week away when he was injured for 3 months.

Maybe our guys just suffer unfortunate setbacks like Cathcart did - wasn't aware he'd actually had the same injury twice in a few months.

  33. That's the effect of Deeney's gravitational pull

When Prodl stands too near him time slows down, its all really complicated black hole stuff and you will have to do your own research

The result is time appears to be only week here but is three months there, or maybe its the other way round... or something like that

The downside is that, as a result, Prodl is now 73 which explains his loss of form since injury.

I’m extremely confident in saying that if and when Kaboul comes back, he will be injured again within a maximum of 2 games.
