Well for those who thought our medical team were performing well this is the club saying directly the opposite. They have taken remedial action by bringing in this man and to use their words “A specialist Doctor will now oversee the process of getting us back to where we should be in terms of player care and treatment". Good.

 

Why does he call himself by his first name?

It's like Doctor Nick on the Simpsons.

A very interesting final sentence that almost suggests that the club are reacting to the critical recent comments from Silva and that he will be proved wrong. Is this another example of the breakdown in the relationship?

 

I suspect there will be a few members on here with head in hands after reading this. Perfect timing by the club to announce this.

I think it probably (hopefully) relates to the Hughes story yesterday and the Chalobah rumours. There's absolutely no way the club don't check social media so they know exactly what rumours are doing the rounds.

 

Seems like a bit of mess behind the scenes. At least it seems like there is some effort to address this though.

 

I don't understand how anyone could have an overall negative view of our ownership. Another example of them identifying an issue and taking action to sort it out. Sure, it would have been nice for it to be done much earlier, but then I don't imagine this was an easy appointment - good people in this field are surely in very high demand.

 

Personally, from reading the article on the official website, that reads to me that we have been unknowingly behind the times when it comes to medical practices at the club. In broad terms, sounds like they have been trying to bring things up-to-date in terms of facilities and practices but have likely been listening to people who don't use current methods ie. using 2010 solutions for 2018 problems. At least they finally seem confident that they have the man in place and have given him the mandate to do what he needs to get us in line with the way the medical/physiotherapy world works now.

Sounds stupid to say it, but this is the best signing we could have made in this transfer window so far.

It's annoyingly difficult to judge Marco Silva's reign properly because things COULD have been so much different if Chalobah, Femenia, Cathcart, Kaboul & Hughes had been available more frequently.

 

Maybe. But the two local news outlets (Mercury and Wobby) have run plenty of stories about it too, as well as plenty of things on social media. I'd say its more aimed at them. Obviously its open to interpretation but why would the club openly look to antagonise the manager further if relations are strained as suggested? If they didn't want him, they'd just sack him...not play some ***-for-tat game of snide comments.

 

You do realise that that will split replies into those that appreciate a sense of humour and others who think "pure arroagance"

I suppose it has to walk a line between pumping up the new broom who is going to sort matters and the fact that the last guy (Benjafield) left over two months ago. Saying the current picture is bad would also be criticising the current team who are supposed to be the ‘solution’.
