https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ng-tabs-Crawley-goal-machine-Max-Watters.html We've made checks, along with other clubs, on Crawley Town striker Max Watters. Has 12 goals in 14 games and is described as a quick, strong and confident finisher. Him & Wilshere in January and the league is ours.
On a more serious note, I checked out a youtube comp of his last week while searching for lower league strikers. He seems pretty slow and nothing about his game seems at all special. He was also released by Doncaster in the summer. I'd be very surprised if he was good enough.
Sounds like something Ben Foster would say on his YouTube videos. "Cycling done, put in serious max watters, now off for some brekko. Oooh coffee, hello big dog, come on the boys"
I reckon current day Deeney would probably look at least as good and score as many goals in League Two as Watters does based on that vid.
Sounds like we'd be signing him off the back of a run of form, rather than him actually having serious talent.
Quite possibly (never seen him play so can't really pass judgement), but 15 goals in 15 games for a 21 year old will certainly get the scouts circling.
It's an honour just to be linked with the same Crawley player as Premier league giants. Shows how far we have come.
Hmm, he's getting plenty of goals, but I've not seen anything special in his game. He could be an alright Champ striker but I'd be surprised if anything more, he seems to have lead in his boots.
Would be a gamble no doubt. But we can't knock his record. Pleased that we're having a look at him atleast.
When Andy Scott was removed that was the nail in the coffin of searching the pyramid. Yet another disastrous error from the regime. There are bargains to be had. They are generally few and far between but we miss out on all of them with Pozzo fixated abroad.
Apparently we have have a few scouts come and go because they've been ignored when talking about talent in our own leagues. Goodness know how we got Hughes - that was like a rare event!
Cheapskate option as we moved Anya their way. Had that not occurred no way would Gino have shelled out for the price Derby were asking. #Ginoskinflint.
Our signings from English clubs since he became involved were hardly raving successes anyway though - Wilmot, Dawson, Welbeck, Quina.
Which of these "bargains" have you recommended before they moved to Champ/PL clubs who would have improved us at the time and we could have signed? Which are there who you would recommend now who would improve our team?
Definitely are, home and abroad. But you need a scouting system that is fit for purpose to facilitate finding them. Not just a coach at Udinese reserves who says which players aren't good enough.
Same when I saw him play for Millwall vs us, though he was just 19 at the time. Kane was still rated at an okay level by Spurs youth coaches while coming through their academy though, while Watters was released by Doncaster in the summer...
Signed a young striker from a lot lower down than League Two in the early 90s and he turned out pretty well.
