Signed for some team in Dubai on loan. I think it's Dubai. Al Nasr. Never heard of them. https://www.instagram.com/p/BZvf-TIHFGF/
Surprised but tbh given we can recall in Jan probably makes sense. Needs to get his fitness back and unlikely to get much game time at Watford. We are in Oct so no point not playing - if we need him recall in Jan
Farcical really. That's two wide players out on loan now. Doubt Silva is happy, who comes in if we have a couple of injuries? Just looked at the squad list and genuinely, who comes in? Success and Pereyra (both injury prone), then Sinclair (crap). After that we shift Cleverly, Gray etc out wide to accommodate. We're going to have to hope injuries are in our favour this year unlike last..
From what Silva has said, it looks as if he doesn't think Zarate is fit enough form the Prem. Not clear whether he thinks he needs longer to get up to full fitness, or that he will never be properly fit after his injury. He'll get (leisurely) first team football while everybody finds out which, and we'll get a loan fee. Shame, though.
This is true, and don't forget, we have the option to recall him in the January window if we see fit, so probably a shrewd move, and we will see how he does, presumably playing regular football. Ticks the boxes for club and player I think.
Thought you were joking about him being on holiday during the international break until Bore's comment made me second guess and I googled it... Seems an odd move to give him a squad place in that case, what happens to it now? Does Brice get a shot, or is it fixed and therefore wasted? It's entirely possible at some point in the season that could be needed, and we might regret it, however unlikely it seems now. I wonder what the plan was with him, and whether this means it failed, or that we didn't really have one at all. Perhaps Richarlison or Carrillo were not fully trusted to make the impacts they have already, a sort of attacking bet hedging? Mysterious.
I don't think the issue is that it doesn't tick certain boxes, but that several more pertinent boxes could have been ticked if he wasn't one of our set, and unchangeable 25 man squad, particularly when we seem to have chosen not to name a player in that 25 who is both available and willing, and who we are apparently refusing to loan out. I am sure there is more to it again, but the positives, which only arise because of the issues of having named Zarate as one of the 25 in the first place, are far outweighed by the negatives in this one, IMHO. What I am most concerned about, is how the situation with certain players, that is, Belkalem, Dja Djedje, Zuniga, and now Zarate, may effect the perception of Watford FC for a potential new squad player signing. That is: "I see how you treat players you have little interest in", which, regardless of what we know or think of the Pozzo regime, is how it is likely to be seen. May have very little effect, but I would say there is very little to boast about with regards to the ongoing situation.
But for every Belkalem, Dja Djedje, Zuniga, and Zarate, there are players like, Richarlison, Holebas, Carrillo, Femenia and many more!
I wonder if we will see him again in a Watford shirt unless there is a need to call him back in January?
Success and Pereyra are pretty able covers for wide berth . Femenia can also play there , very well by looks of it . Short term cover with Holebas and Jan Maat both having played there for us. Or if we were really desperate we could switch to playing 2 up top seeing as we have 3 decent strikers on our books .
The club probably saw him as a back up to Pereyra in the central attacking midfield role, but the emergence of Cleverley as first choice in that position means that - for now at least - he is surplus to requirements. I'm sure he still has a future with us, if Silva wants him, but he needs first team minutes under his belt after such a long period out. If Pereyra and/or Cleverley pick up injuries this will look like a bizarre decision, but hindsight and all that...
It's a typical cynical Gino ploy. He will sign RickyLambert as a free agent just to irritate Crystal Palace
Should have paid up his contract in May. He was a panic buy in January, and while his cameo performances were good, once injured he was never going to build a career here, as we were going to recruit in the summer and bring in younger players.
Nobody thought that Richarlison would do quite as well as he has done for starters. Or that Cleverly would play in the 'hole' - entirely Silva's idea that has surprisingly worked out quite well. So these factors combined with Pereyra's return means that Zarate being named in the squad does not enhance his chances. It really is a win win for the player and club. Still have some hope of seeing Zarate back - looked as good as anyone in a tight space and has a predatory instinct plus works hard. Wish him all the best in getting back to his best.
Absolutely. But the reason I didn't mention it was because it has nothing to do with the point I am trying to make. It's only a minor issue, but for an organisation that emphasises its professionality, this situation is looking very amateurish. Albeit in a sea of professionality. I can see it possibly affecting the signing of squad players, for the reasons already mentioned, and believe it may make Gino's job just a little harder, especially if tbe press make something of these seemingly unusual goings on - remember, Zarate was only in the squad as a permitted late change for a player loaned out after already being named, and who Silva was aparently happy with.
There are two things here, either players being signed that the current manager has no interest in and then when they leave the next Manager feels the same, or they simply aren't good enough and are panic buys. It is all strange, remember Holebas wasn't in the team to start with and was spouting off about it, then a few months later he is a regular, however he is an exception. If we have a settled say 18/20 players (and some of those are not in the 25 named squad because of their age) it seems the last 7/8 on the perifery are really excess to requirement! It's a strange old game!
shame he never really got to show what he was made of, but I wouldn't put him in ahead of any of our regular midfielders and I'd rather success got given game time ahead of a 30 year old. It was last year when we were ravaged by injuries that we were crying out for him, but sadly injury ruined everything. In short: **** him.
I agree. It's a symptom of our disposable head coach approach. If we can keep Silva for more than a year things should settle down.
Yeah, but I'm an amateur. But none the less, danke schoen Ubergrammerfuerer Moog. Edit. You may wish to check the dictionary on that one. Though I did think you were right at first. Professionality describes professionalism, according to Oxbridge. Therefore I have provided a new response, below, to your pedantry...
**** off and check the dictionary next time you ignorant would be grammar nazi pedant. You're worse than a pundit on MOTD. You really make me laugh. Ha ha ha ha ha. Kindest Regards 424
Same as Pereyra then really. I would suspect he was in the squad to be a winger, but obviously I don't know.
Not enough Hanna Barbera/Middle East combination jokes made on this forum. About time someone readdressed the balance .
playing well back to fitness scoring goals ok crap league lets get him back would be like a free signing
