JT might be what we need but the owners don’t want it. They had that opportunity with Ivic but crapped their pants when he actually tried to do something about our problems. It would be more or less a waste of time until Deeney is out of the club.

He's a qualified head coach, which is a huge upgrade on Xisco.

Not that I'm particularly coming out in favour of him. If there are alternative options, I would rather explore them, given his style of football and potentially questionable record, as explored by other posters here already.

I think he’d likely get an exception from the exceptions panel but it’s hard to be sure. The Norwegian League isn’t a ‘top league’ but the guy has just smashed all sorts of records as he won the league, and coached his side against AC Milan in the final round of Europa League qualifiers. But I think we’d be the first club to try and get a coach in under this new system so hard to tell how much latitude they’d give clubs.

Any option is superior to Xisco. It’s embarrassing that Pozzo appointed him. Just get him out as soon as possible and pretend it never happened.

Ahh the old rose tinted specs, absolutely nothing special about Marco Silva’s start with us compared to any manager we’ve had really. We beat some rubbish teams and beat Arsenal, we also had the usual 6-0 pasting against city. Surely Gracia winning four in the bounce at the start of his first full season was more impressive?

Sure he’s better than Munoz, but I don’t see what set him apart from a lot of our other managers who I would much rather have back. We did ok under him nothing more, before complete capitulation. All Watford managers get the new manager bounce, why was Silva any different. He couldn’t organise a defence to save his life and was the biggest cheque book manager we’ve had. The alarm bells were there right from the start, regularly shipping a high number of goals.

Largely agree but W6 D3 L4 after 13 games, almost 1/3 of a season is nothing to be sniffed at and playing some great football esp away from home. Also getting something out of Gray and not always playing Deeney was refreshing too. His faults outweight his positives though, agreed. Cheque-book manager who only saw us as a very brief stepping stone.

Only 2 managers from the Pozzo era I'd take back are Joka and Gracia.

Yeah, probably a fairer summary than mine. People who want him back need their head testing though. It would never work, he needs money and will demand certain players that he very definitely wouldn’t get. He’d be overly vocal about it and would last five minutes. He’s just not a manager to come in and make the best of what’s available, that just isn’t him.

That Chelsea 4-2 defeat was a killer. All over them, playing some of the best football we ever have, Richarlison with an easy chance to make it 3-1, misses. He never really recovers and the wheels come off.

    Small margins.

Yes, we looked so good as an attacking force in that game. I think the wheels only really came off due to the Everton issues and breakdown of relationship with Gino. As soon as it was clear he didn't want to be here, he lost the players, supporters, owners etc. Without the Everton interference I think we'd have had a great season and he'd have moved on to maybe Arsenal in the summer, which at the time would have been a bigger move for him. A million miles from where we find ourselves today sadly, both us and him.

Perhaps not, but Malky played for us and gave his all. He also did very well for us with limited resources. More reasons to dislike Silva tbf

Yep, that list of results doesn't show the real picture. We looked sensational at times, even in defeat. The purple patch with him was the high point of the entire pozzo tenure.

Yes we did well under Gracia but we were heavily reliant on wonder goals, and his constantly baffled and bemused expression proved his achievements were more by luck than judgment.

Silva failed at Everton and was failing with us after a good start. He had some success with Hull inasmuch that they were a hopeless case and he got them putting up a fight - but they faded away at the end and were relegated. (Not Pearson-at-Leicester - levels).
But the decisive factor for not wanting him is that he is a c***.

    John Terry? NO.
If results are everything and nothing else counts, just why are you supporting Watford?
And there is absolutely no way we could be sure he'd get results, anyway.
But basically he is an absolute oik.

Great move for Fulham. Ditching Parker, presumably getting some compensation (?), then hiring a better manager.

Yep. Never thought I'd be jealous of Fulham but we live in strange times.

The purple patch we had with Silva in charge was the absolute peak of WFC's modern era, probably the peak of our entire existence. A team full of exotic international superstars - Brazilian! Spanish! French! - playing scintillating stuff masterminded by an utter hunk.

It was beyond our wildest dreams. Then everton came along, tickled his swingers, and that was that.

The dream was over. Replaced by a nightmarish gurning goblin.

And now here we are. All our hopes and dreams pinned on over the hill british cloggers, young foreign no hopers and a chubby manager who's only asset is an insincere smile.

But those we love can never be more than a thought away, for as long as there's a memory they live in our hearts forever. When someone you love becomes a memory, the memory becomes a treasure.

Come back Marco. I forgive you.

That first 10 games or so under Marco was the first time I really thought we've made it, truly an established prem club, and playing great football. We deserve to be here. Such a shame the way it played out.

Yes but Watford 0 Citeh cricket score, is just a fact of life isn't it ?
We weren't unbeatable but we won more than we lost, were brilliant away from home, and played fast attractive football. He also had the balls to drop Deeney to the bench.

Silva is our managerial of equivalent of people still pineing after Fessi and wishing he got a chance in the Prem. Because of that tiny 1% of doubt about Everton unsettling him, it creates the idea that 10 game run was perhaps not just the new manager bounce that pretty much every single one of our 78 Pozzo managers has got. As a result he’ll be forever eulogised by some as the manager that would’ve propelled us to the top four and beyond. ‘If we still had Marco we’d be Leicester I tell you!’

This is despite the overwhelming and ever growing body of evidence that he is in fact just a totally crap manager.

Of course, there’s another side to the coin however….

Did well on foreign shores before arriving here. Gave a very very poor Hull side a fighting chance of escaping relegation before running out of steam - but look at their squad…it was a miracle that he even got them close from where he started.

Then had a great start here and clearly was creating a tight team spirit - this has been mentioned by many current and former players and many of them have been incredibly complimentary about his methods and time here. But yes, it fell apart - but those at the club obviously feel Everton’s approach was a big part of things…

Then did poorly at Everton admittedly. But who doesn’t? They gave Ancelotti a blank chequebook and even he struggled home in 10th. Koeman, Martinez…it’s clearly a poison chalice of a club at times. No excuse for how badly Silva did - but managers who have gone on to do well failed at Everton.

Yours is a valid outlook. But I’m just pointing out it’s not a stretch to hold an opposing view and I don’t think any evidence you point to is ‘overwhelming’.

The strangest thing is that Scott Parker left to join Bournemouth.

Some people were rescued from the Titanic.
Some people jumped off the Titanic.
Some people stayed on the Titanic.
But Scott Parker has jumped off a lifeboat and climbed up to the helm...
