Man City have been banned from UEFA competitions for the next 2 years.
Probably reduced on appeal.
Rumours that they are also going to be stripped of their 2019 FA cup win.
Well Pep will probably leave if that ban sticks ..
Probably go to PSG or Juventus if it does.
Did they even have an FA Cup final last season?
Been fined £25m for falsely inflating sponsorship revenues to circumvent FFP.
Should be relegated as well.
Agreed. The sanctions should set the example for others to deter this type of outrageous cheating. They already had an absolutely massive advantage over other “normally” funded teams. To cook the books to gain further advantage is just not acceptable. I hope the authorities and appeal board don’t bow to pressure and allow the sanction to stand regards UEFA competitions. If the domestic authorities take further action, I won’t be sad.
So do villa qualify for Europe now from league cup final?
Does 5th place count as 4th for next season’s champions league?

This is beyond funny! Absolutely hilarious.
I must share this little story. When I was walking out after the cup final feeling sore and battered we bumped into 2 city supporters and I asked them why they hadn’t stopped to see them lift the cup. Their reply was ‘seen it all before mate’.
Please, please let this be the beginning of their complete downfall
Don't see how. There was only one team playing in that final.
Who honestly thinks this will stick. By the time time the appeals are done City will get away with a issuing vaguely apologetic text message. A truly horrible club.
Brighton and Wolves to share the honours.
Probably be cut to one season with another suspended.
Just LOL if you can't see what's happening here.
The established elite dont want anyone else breaking into the party.
Teams who've had the benefit of years of champions league money and the accompanying raised profile leads to huge sponsorships, and this is absolutely fine and within the rules apparently.
The only way for other clubs to break the monopoly would be with help from a wealthy investor who'll then fall foul of these rules.
All you goons celebrating this are just celebrating the fact that man utd, Liverpool, barca, Madrid etc will be at the top for evermore.
Just LMAO at your shortsightedness
Agree completely. Slightly tempered by the fact Man City are the team that have made love to us unexpectedly without any lubricant for 4 seasons now.
It'd be very Watfordy of us to go and beat them this season.
This is true, but it doesn't stop it being rather fun that this particular owner has got its come-uppance.
Exactly. Acknowledging the schadenfreude doesn't make anyone a goon.
UEFA were going to give the same ban to Man Utd but realised there was no point.
Really UEFA should ban ALL English clubs from the champions league on the basis this happened on the premier league's watch and other premier league clubs (eg spurs, Leicester) benefited from this verboten money.
It would but we won’t.
Man City are the the exception that proves the Watfordy rule..
All Watford players are programmed to go into brain freeze and rabbit eyes mode when those two words are used ..
Surely this should impact on their position in the Premier League?
But, despite RC's little rant in #17, City have cheated and anytime cheats get found out, is to be welcomed.
Not sure how PSG got away with it, though.
Seems odd that they will be allowed the chance to win the CL this year though
Do you know how much money the TV rights for the CL bring in from England?
"City have not been banned for 'breaching FFP rules' or €financial limits; that was settled in 2014 and since they've made so much money they comply with FFP. City have been banned for being found to have deceived Uefa" https://t.co/VkWLEZN2Yw
City fans will be pleased by this. They hate the Champions League anyway.
It does make me chuckle when they claim that they’re being persecuted because they’re somehow pluckily gatecrashing the elite.
******* vile club, can’t stand them.
I wonder what if any impact this ban will have on the club? Will they go back to the mid table at best but honest club that we had a chance of taking points off even when we were **** (like the West Ham of the north), or will they go back to destroying teams and winning trophies as if nothing has happened?
I fear it may be the latter...
I don’t for one second believe that they will actually be excluded from the Champions League next season. This is merely a gesture.
I think they'll plead it down to 1 season, otherwise it just sends a message that you can hoodwink UEFA with no consequences.
1 season as a suspended sentence I reckon. They’ll argue that they’ve a) been singled out and b) conducted themselves so far this season based on the assumption that they have a chance of qualifying.
Because their chairman is on the UEFA exec committee?
