When he talks about getting ownership interest in a team in the US, he sounds like a high schooler contemplating a career in heating, ventilation and air conditioning since it is a "growing industry".

I think it is even money that he stays or goes. If he plays like he played this year, I wouldn't mind it. He only did one stupid thing and that was fly to London for the tribute match for whichever old **** it was. Aside from that, and the ****ery about feigning injury before games that take place on turf...oh man I am talking myself out if this...anyway, if he played and acted like he did this year for one more year, it wouldn't be so bad.

Well he'll probably be buggering off for the Olympics at the end of July, but I think that is fair game in that it isn't a pointless event. I hope he stays and I think if he does get ownership of a team, it'd be a good thing. Wonder if he'll throw himself into the coaching game.

I have no problem with him representing his country, despite my axiom of "MY club over YOUR country".

I would love him as an owner of any other team in the league but the Galaxy. The taunting would be spectacular.

I really don't see him as a coach. He is a good teammate motivator, but I don't think he has the tactical acumen or foresight to build a team.

I could see him not being a head coach but just a coach on a team. He would be useful for set pieces. Though the only job I could see him taking is one with the
    English national team.

Well the new regime at the 'Caps started today. New Scottish coach Martin Rennie comes in. I didn't really know much about him but he seems to be a bit Boothroyd in that he retired early from playing and got all his badges etc very, very early. His record as a coach is outstanding I must admit, seeming to progress teams each season before jumping ship onto bigger and better things.

Like I hoped, he is bringing in a total new set of staff and holding a training camp over the next week or so in order to see who they protect from the expansion draft for the Impact. Paul Richie, who used to play for Hearts and Man City if I remember comes in as assistant and I am sure more will follow. I wonder if Jay will stay, his performances last season were not great and the defence was definitely the weak link.

Any of you guys across the pond have any hints on who Montreal will sign? Being a French team in the MLS, I am sure a big name French player must be on the list, don't think Montreal will be as appetising for Henry an NY though!

It was a good season, disappointing play off run but a big improvement from last year. Oh you can't scare me I'm sticking to the union I'm sticking to the union till the day I die

Mat- the latest the rumor was Swedish Striker Andreas Haddad l*pträna from OSK. Not sure how true it is but that's the latest rumor.

Houston got the job done tonight. Union didn't really threaten to overturn the deficit. Ching goal came at the perfect time. You gotta be happy with the season considering it's your 2nd year in MLS.

As for Houston, we're coming into form at the right time. Unbeaten since September and looking really solid now. These play-offs have been a pretty good advert for MLS in my book. Exciting games and a bit of controversy as well. Good times.

And NYRB have just scored in 3 minutes at Home Depot. The fighting has already started as well. Epic. Rodgers is an absolute ****.

Ah, but the way the game ended was sublime...
Magee and Donovan with a PK. Seems like old times.

I would love to beat Luke Rodgers' face in with a cricket bat.
From minute 4, he got lots of boos and crude serenades.
My favorite was in the tune of Guantanamera:
    "Looks like a *****!
Luke Rodgers looks like a *****...
    Look like a peeee-nisssss...
Luke Rodgers looks like a *****."

Hats off to Philly for a much improved 2nd season.
Hats off to the Dynamo for really coming on strong at the right time.

Hope to see you fools in the finals!

Well played Luke, Houston was the better team over both legs. Hope you guys can handle sporting KC and make it to the finals.

I fancy our chances against KC. We're playing with a good confidence right now and having a weapon like Brad Davis makes us dangerous from every set piece.

Was very happy to see NYRB go out last night. It was a good game to watch for the neutral. LA got the job done in comfortable fashion by the end. So happy to see Rodgers lose and come in for plenty of stick!

Click HERE for a link from The Guardian on MLS playoffs

Down to four teams for the semi finals :
LA Galaxy vs Real Salt Lake
    -&-
Houston Dynamo vs Sporting Kansas City

One game each, home team is the higher ranked team in the table at season's end.

Winners move on to face each other at The Home Depot Center.
    I'll be there either way.

I'm hoping for an L vs. KC final. Kansas have Danish GK 'Casino' jimmi Nielsen aka the white puma.

I know him as Jimmi 'Brigitte' Nielsen.

Yes Houston! Great performance tonight to see off SKC, despite the loss of MVP Brad Davis. Pretty much the perfect display of away football. Can't wait for the final. Hopefully it'll be LA for Fitz!

    Excellent!

Sorry to hear Davis will miss the Cup. That sort of mars it, doesn't it?
So glad it is at home...

Yeah, for a top game like this, you want all the best players on the field. It'll be really tough for Houston going to your home ground, but I saw enough panic caused by Salt Lake set pieces to give me hope we can get a goal. LA are clear favorites, but anything can happen in a one-off game like this. I'm looking forward to it.

Check out the perfect cross to Mike Magee for the game winner...

That is a cross and a half!

Has he actually got better then for the Galaxy? From what I have seen of Beckham this season, he has seemed far more impressive than before.

Yes, he came to play this year. His form is a lot like that of his last year at Real Madrid, in my opinion, where he willed the team to the title. That was very evident in the last game against New York Red Bulls.

The Galaxy are loaded though, with Magee on an unbelievable run this year as well, and both Donovan and Keane a constant threat, and the defense absolutely throttling opponents attacks. Beckham has sort of been a de-stabilizing influence prior to this year due to his failure to really commit to the team and it's success, but he has really put forth a wonderful effort this year and keeps getting sharper as we head into the final.

    Perfect timing.

Houston Squad Salary Total - $3,550,000
Keane, Donovan, Beckham Salary Total - $10,700,000+

IMO.....LA are huge favorites because of their form over the season, the fact they are playing at home and the money they've spent to get there. Houston is a team without any real stars, especially now that Davis is injured. I'd be devastated as an LA fan to lose to us.

Would be nice to have stopped them getting 70 points and steal the MLS Cup though. No offense Fitzy.

In Un-mls cup news. You manged to pull Toronto in your Champions Leauge draw... gotta be happy about that

By all rights, on paper the Galaxy should easily beat the Dynamo.
Based on form, the Galaxy still have the edge over even quite hot Houston.

That said, it would be a huge letdown if the Galaxy collapsed, and actually not unprecedented. The Dynamo as their former incarnation of the San Jose Earthquakes actually put 3 goals in on the Galaxy in 5 minutes in 2004 in the Western semi finals.

I am happy that you support your local team, Lukey. Don't worry about me...If we lose, no doubt we will deserve it.

I read the news on my phone in a meeting and made a sound that was not appreciated by my coworkers. I disguised it with a cough.

This Dynamo run of late has really helped me get involved in MLS again. TBH my level of support was waning somewhat after a slow start to the season and a pretty large turnover of players. It's hard to forge a new affinity for a team that is playing fairly uninspiring football. The Play-Off run has sparked my interest again and raised the passion levels. I'm excited for the final. My brother will be in town also, so I'll have somebody to drink beer with while watching the game. Looking forward to the relocation downtown next season. Good times to be a Dynamo fan. Good time to be a fan of soccer in the US in general I think.

Chad Barrett dislocated his ankle in training today...that sounds extremely painful.

No way he comes back in time for the Final.

So with Davis and Barrett out, I'd say that makes things equal, eh Lukey?

He's been the better of the 'other' forward alongside either Angel or Keane. Adam Cristman will play in his place. He is a better hold up man target type player, but he does not have the footwork or the "deft touch" Barrett offers.

I'd love to upgrade that spot next year...

On the other hand, Juninho may end his loan stay after this season and getting a replacement will be a top priority should he leave. There are also niggling rumors of Landon Donovan moving to Club America to play at Azteca in Mexico City. That would be a huge blow. Beckham could leave too... The defense looks settled as long as MLS Defender of the Year doesnt fly off to sit on some Lower tier Euro league team's bench. So I suspect fixing the Midfield will be a huge priority in the offseason.

He looked in a lot of trouble when he came off. But 2 weeks is a lot of time to recover. We'll see. My mother-in-law is going out there for the game.
