Luther 'disgusted' By Club's 'shameful Pr'

Yeah I said similar in the shoutbox yesterday.

I think the club were (very clumsily) trying to have fans coming away from the video psyched up to give him anther chance and paint him as a remorseful player determined to be the best he could be in his remaining time at the club.

But, maybe it was just me - he looked thoroughly depressed and I was just left feeling that nothing other than a fresh start for both sides would fix this.

 

First thing in the morning I shall be putting a dog turd in the post (recorded delivery) to Duxbury

 

I give the club some credit for being brave, removing the sugarcoating and allowing that to go out. But it's an admission and an acknowledgement that Gray is a massive problem.

But Luther has every right to be offended by this. Calling him Luther Missit is very offensive to be used on an official broadcast. I know that was a name used in the tabloids on occasion, but it was the same rag that used a turnip for Graham Taylor. Would the club ever mention that on an official broadcast? Who knows, I can't understand the level of stupidity running through the club these days, so maybe they would, but I think it would be unlikely.

There is absolutely no comparison between Luther and Gray. Luther did miss chances, but he also took chances too.....a lot of them. Gray just misses chances and that's it. Luther is and always been an ambassador on and off the pitch. I think he only got sent off once at Newcastle for retaliation, but that was his only blemish on the pitch. Off the pitch he's been nothing short of exemplary in the way he portrays himself. Unlike Gray who got caught TWICE for breaking lockdown rules. I say got caught twice, as it's highly unlikely he broke the rules only twice. These are the times he got found out. People of this attitude do not care, he only cared about being caught and looking bad. He had no defense for it, and how could he? It just sums up the type of character he is.

So, it's no wonder Luther is highly offended by being associated with a character like Andre Gray, and it's another shame on the leaders of the club to have not offered an apology for any offence (even if it was unintended) to Luther.

 

Re Andy rankins son it was a copy and paste from a fans site on another social media site. I spoke to somebody at the club and they would never ask for money and are trying to actually compile something very special for Andy who was a brilliant player for us

this does show how, what appears to be a misunderstanding, can be fabricated and blown out of all proportion

 

Honestly, anyone who knows anything of our history cannot be in their right mind to dare compare Gray to Luther. Utter garbage.
I have ZERO interest in listening to ANYTHING AG has to say, ZERO. He hasn't earnt that respect from me (im sure he'd be gutted right!) in terms of on or off the pitch. When GT built what he did, as a fan i was proud to be part of that (win lose or draw) - unfortunately we're so far from feeling that now its so sad. The disconnect is palpable.

Yes, but you could have said after any of his ‘performances’ this season. And yet he still keeps getting picked every other game.

 

It wasn't just scoring. No opposition defender could dwell on the ball when Luther was on the pitch, as he'd have it whipped off his toes in an instant. Gegenpressing before we knew it in German.

 

I rrally hope it's not true, or that if it is the request was handled by a work experience kid on his first day who didn't tell anyone else.

The opposite of what we like to believe Watford stands for, and what it certainly did stand for in the GT era.

Like you, I found it hard to believe the club would do something like that. Incompetent they may very well be, but they're still human beings.

I have always been a severe disappointment to one of my brothers as I do not drink my own body weight in Nurse McCreedie's Bruise Liniment or Tony Been like quantities of tea. Nor do I follow Surrey CCC,preferring Middlesex.

Coincidentally I've just emailed DM to ask for an address to write to Gino.
I think the questions have been well composed by many on here but "personally in person" as Catarella says in Inspector Montalbano I'd request;

* An immediate and fulsome apology to Luther for the shambles that was the Gray interview.

* For Gino to be forthcoming and to speak more to the fans. He doesn't have to go to Steve Parish lengths but the odd statement every six months would be welcome,providing it is not incomprehensible mumbo jumbo.

* A plan for the next three seasons and an honest assessment of the impact on the club if and when we fail to gain promotion.

* A guarantee that the next coach can have be left to develop the team to his or her satisfaction without the interference of certain individuals.

 

I know Dave Messenger is the fan liaison bod, but I’m not sure his remit extends to relaying concerns about team or management policy, does it? I think it’s worth trying to get the message across over concerns about the Gray interview however.

 

I was thinking about that Linekar situation yesterday. It was so bizarre how someone who slates our owners at every opportunity was given a grovelling apology because our social media admin batted back a derogatory comment as a bit of banter. Not sure why Duxbury felt so self conscious about it? Thought they didn’t care what people think?

 

Name the Vic road North stand after him. He already deserved this anyway.

I just want some answers from the boss.
Everything now is so far removed from the very people it should be set up for,us,the fans. Covid can take some of the blame but only a fraction.
if you contrast it to my governing body,the LTA it is this;
I had a torrid time with an online course that I had taken a few weeks ago. After a week of flimsy namby pamby platitudes and nonsense from the coaching team I emailed Scott Lloyd,the CEO. ( I was subsequently told by another high ranking employee that the the amount of IT issues are too numerous to count).
Lloyd replied within twenty hours,not just a 'noted and thanks,we'll look into it" but a detailed response to my communication.
That I would suggest is good leadership and he is certainly not the perfect CEO by any stretch.
Everyone is accountable.

A fellow Orn I know has had a horrible couple of years where he got an infection that ended up wrapping around his spine and confining him to a wheelchair. It has had a major impact on his and his families life. He was a STH holder at the Vic with his young son and went to most away games too. Just before Christmas, whilst he was in rehab, he ended up getting Covid and because of his condition he had to stay in hospital over Christmas which left his feeling lower than a snakes belly. The club instantly sorted some things to try and lift his spirits after that latest setback.

Since this has all been going on the club were made aware of it and couldn't have done more to help, not just the bloke in question but also his son - exactly what you'd expect from Watford.

Our club is a shambles at the moment at board level, it's a shambles in the squad and a shambles at coaching level. But that does not mean there aren't some very good people at the club who still hold the clubs values at heart. If those people had been made aware of the issues with Andy Rankin they would have acted accordingly, I have no doubt about that.

 

Again, this was never substantiated, even in the OP's own words/disclaimer, and it has subsequently been proven false. Don't allow this kind of misinformation to spread through a lack of diligence, as rotten as the club actually is, it cheapens everyone when things that aren't true are inserted into the narrative and weakens/trivialises the real case.

My mum works at WGH and she's very grateful for what the club have done, and there have been other nice touches throughout the pandemic, makes the various PR disasters all the more baffling tbf, because clearly not everyone employed by the club is a complete ******

 

Hopefully the good eggs at the club will one day outnumber the rest again.

 

Maybe, but I would have thought his job is to pass on and address people’s concerns about things like ticketing and ground facilities, rather than who is playing in which position and why we didn’t sign player X.

 

As someone on social media said yesterday, doing excellent community work isn’t a valid excuse for letting your primary reason for existence turn to sh*t. We should be proud of it - but it should be secondary.

A failing hospital wouldn’t show off about how good their staff football team is.

 

Oh I agree. I wouldn’t even mention that type of thing. The communication and lies we have been fed regarding the setup is though.
