The club will never ever say we are in for any player. The talk has come from it being mentioned to me in the same breath as the Gosling and Pochettino moves - which turned out to be accurate. But it was only said as one to ‘keep an eye on’ rather than any official move being made (the former two names were all done barring medicals).
Have you got any closer to figuring out who the mystery other name who we were expecting to have a bid confirmed for is?

Nope but to be honest I haven't asked - was going to send a text tomorrow and ask (given its Deadline Day) but its also matchday so not sure I'll get a reply as I'm sure there's gonna be loads going on! Will obviously let folks know if I get any info back - but I wouldn't expect it. I did think it might have been Sean Longstaff when that rumour surfaced earlier (and given Newcastle valued him at a £50m less than 12 months ago!) but that was just me...had nothing to indicate thats the name.
It was league 1, he was crap in the Championship several times. Though that's not to say this player won't fare better, look at Ivan Toney.
I do always enjoy how people react to signings, both good and bad, when lets be honest we've never seen him play. I couldn't even say i'd heard of him before the post.
