I doubt we’ll get any more for a player who’s only played in the 2nd division (and clearly doesn’t want to be here) and a player who was never really ours.

If he was never really ours we wouldn't be getting anything for him.

Suarez is 22 with clear potential to go on to be a very good forward. It's not all about what level the player has performed at so far. It's just an excuse for people to remain mindlessly positive and full of praise for Pozzo no matter what happens.

Sarr had only done it in the w**k French League.

  3. Burnsy

Then if he was never ours, they’d be mental to give us any money at all for him surely?

And I think if we can’t get more than £15m for Suarez, then we need to tell any interested clubs that he’s going nowhere.

We did a good piece of business last year. Sold Lukebakio for £20m, who would have been a dude in the PL, and put it towards Sarr. We should try and do the same thing with Suraez

How can you say with certainty that he would have been a "dud"? He looks to have developed into a very decent player, with plenty of time to improve even more.

Darwin Nunez set the standard for Segunda strikers. £20m, although he is a year younger. I'd be surprised if we got offered any more than that and it would be a decent price for someone who has never been tested at a level even equivalent to the Championship, Segunda is closer to League 1 level. However I think if he's happy to stay he'd be worth the risk of keeping him because unlike Estupinan, a quality striker can often be the difference between automatics and play-offs, and I think we're quite weak in that department.

Marseille say he was never ours. We say he was. They may go to court over it, or Marseille may slip us a couple of mil to make it all go away. May be preferable to both to put it behind them and focus on more important things. Just speculating.

As for Suarez’s potential, I agree with you both. I would want more than £15m and if they’re not willing to pay it then keep him and use him. Going off our recent business though I think that’s the sort of figure we’d sell for. Reports from Colombia (Pipe Sierra of WinSportsTV?) that Marseille have bid €12m.

I hope I’m wrong but I can see us selling for about £15m and everyone on here, probably justifiably, being a bit miffed.

Marseille are supposedly broke. They may be able to afford players but they won’t be throwing a couple of million our way to smooth anything over. Especially if they think they are right.

Selling this chump clears the way for Gray to be the main man. Get rid asap.

Doesn’t sound like they’re too broke if they bid €12m. If they don’t want to conflate the Gueye and Suarez situations then fine. I expect we’ll settle for whatever we can get for Suarez and that we’ll never hear about the outcome of the Gueye row.

Yes. But spending considered money on an asset isn’t the same as chucking someone a couple of money to smooth over a point where you believe you’re in the right? That’s a huge sum on money to give away.

But they could lose more in court, not to mention court/lawyer fees and time wasted. Whilst they may think they’re in the right, they may also be aware that there’s a possibility that a ruling may go in Watford’s favour.

We should be pushing for future clauses too. He started against PSG last week. Will probably go for big money in the future. We should be all over that

We will sell him I’m sure. His agent wants out and if we get 20m I would take it. If it means we can keep hold of sarr for another season then it’s fine with me.

I don’t necessarily think this is what will happen, I was trying to present it as a possibility and explain why it may be considered.

Not a like for like replacement for sure, but Perica looks good. Gray to come back as well, Pedro can play there, Sarr maybe too and in emergencies the old man Murray. Would be good if we could keep Suarez, but he's by no means indispensable, Sarr is certainly more so

I think if we can get anywhere near 2o million for Suarez it wouldn't bee too bad, if it means we keep Sarr by raising funds from sales of Suarez, Estupinan, Deulofeu, Pereyra then fair enough. We still have Gray and potentially Deeney to come back Perica looked okay today as well, not sure about Murray and we possibly have Hernandez in January. 13 million is a bit of a bad deal for us though especially to Marseille after the Gueye incident.

It will have absolutely no bearing on whether we keep Sarr or not. They're both for sale.

People who think selling one player means we won't sell another if the right offer comes in really need to wake up.

Yeah, be surprised if we accept €13m plus bonuses, think it'll be somewhere over £15m with bonuses bringing it up to £20m

That list of players we hope to keep from a sale of someone else keeps getting smaller.

In a few weeks time we'll be saying 'if selling Joao Pedro keeps Gray with us for another season it's fine with me'.

nah im alright, i think if i viewed life as realistically/pessimistically as some on this board i would spend most of my time feeling pretty bloody miserable.

Would you? That's a bit weird.

Still not sure why so many on here are insistent that "negative" feelings aired about football on a forum must equal a person being generally unhappy/"miserable" in their personal life.

(For the record, I'd definitely draw the line at selling Pedro to keep Gray!)

you need to read what i said again mate. i never said anything about anyone else being miserable in their own lives, my comment was merely about my own personal nature. stop being so defensive.
