Unfortunately Palace, like Everton, are actually having a sensible one this window, Eze, Batshuayi and possibly Benrahma, dunno if they'll have room for Welbeck

I forgot about Batshuayi. Scrub that then.

Except we have sold what 2 players so far.

Is it possible that in a slow market the Pozzo model is to put all our expensive players, young talent and want away players from a very bloated squad in the shop window so that some NOT ALL will be sold?

We are going into hysterics about all our players being sold and so far a couple have gone.

It might also explain having had a very limited preseason why we are treating early games as chances for fringe players. Boro, oxford and Shef Wednesday aren't much cop. We can test out if they can cut it in any way at this level, with such a long season its relatively low risk provided we keep getting results. We know many of the "better" players are more likely to be able to do so.

Id prefer to go with that explanation rather than "help! help! The pozzos want out! we have sold all our players! its a fire sale!" For which we have little in the way of evidence.

We really do need to give it some time this season and stop panicking so early on. If Sinclair/Navarro etc have done very little to impress and are still featured after 5-10 games its more worrying.

Id also expect we can read more into the Pozzo intent at the scum game. They know the fans will want them to play as strong a team as possible.

    Short sighted.

Could really harm our chances v. Man City in the cup.

Niang rumoured to be too expensive for Marseille so they aren't exactly flush at the moment. Sounds like Suarez's agent's been slapped down again. W@nker.

You would hope the Pozzo's would know how important to the fans a win over the scum would be, but you have to ask do they, or if they even care?
  13. Not needed. We have TD, Gray, Success, Welbeck, Penaranda (like a new signing), Murray. At 20 goals each that's 120 goals a season pretty much guaranteed.

Not convinced he would tbh. Think some are overestimating his current ability

He did Ok with them before... 26 in 73 league appearances - certainly better than his West Brom and Burnley premier league time.

i totally agree , apart from one Dawson like overhead kick, he has had very little impact , missed all of his one on one chances ,seems weak and offers very little aerial threat.
problem is when the going gets tough we will have no "minders" for our young and lightweight players.

He’s never been a prolific scorer and hasn’t really ever had a standout season - just doesn’t seem to be a striker who (if fit) would score a lot of ‘bread and butter’ finishes and would end up scoring 5-8 eye-catching goals instead.

But that could change in the Championship theoretically- but surely no Watford fan has any faith he will stay fit. In fact, I’d be surprised if anyone inside or out of football has faith in that.

If he hadn’t had his shirt number taken from him, I’d be predicting that he will stay with us this season by default of no one else willing to take the risk. The fact he has had his squad number dramatically changed tells me somehow we may try to find a way to get him out regardless ie. pay off. There’s no way Watford will be paying him £75k a week in this league if he stays fit..which he won’t.

Sooner we get this muppet out of the club the better. Perica is gonna be the main man. Feed the Perica and the Perica will score. On the odd occasion.

At 75,000 a game he would have to bag at least 20 to make that worthwhile and he's shown little to suggest he can be that prolific.

Joking aside, I'd like to see the back of him, Deeney and Pererya. Adding Gray to the list is probably unrealistic. None of them are remotely worth their wages in this league.

Ivic's press conference for the Wednesday game:

"We are waiting for Troy to see when he is available and ready to practise with us," said Ivi*. "It will depend on his physical condition when we can use him.

"The situation with Suarez is different because he stayed one period out of the squad and now he starts to join us and we take a decision tomorrow on him."

In context with the comments on Troy, this sounds like Suarez is quite likely to feature. Ivic was stressing he only missed out on working with the squad for a short time, unlike Deeney, so the implication of that would seem to be that he's a lot more likely to be available.

Yeah I saw that too. Strange because Kevin Affleck’s write up of the team news grouped Suarez (seemingly facing a late fitness test judging from those comments), Deeney (building his fitness up ahead of a potential return next week, notwithstanding transfer interest), and Hughes (our until mid-October) as “closer to a return” and didn’t include him with Sarr and Dawson as available. But Ivic’s comments themselves seemed fairly clear.

He is a vital cog to the promotion push. Natural goal scorers are a rare breed.

He's the player i'm most excited to watch. Him and Sarr starting tomorrow would be fantastic - Ivic made it pretty clear he doesn't see Pedro as a striker. Probably more likely to be Perica though!

Pedro, Suarez and Sarr as a forward line to terrify Championship defences. The thought that this is still a possibility maintains my hope!

No way we start with both of them, but imagine if, with 25 minutes to go, the tiring Wednesday defence look up and see Sarrez come on? Oof...

Marseille still the strongest link. How much do we reckon?

I’d say £15m approximately but hopefully Gino would squeeze some Gueye money out of them too. For that reason anything less than £20m would be poor business.
  33. hornetboy1

Doing business with a club we're in dispute with over Gueye. I'm not even surprised anymore. Probably £15m for a classy striker with bags of potential.....seems to be about right. "Watford....nobody undersells like we do". I might even use that as my signature.
