Liverpool are by far and away the most loathed team in the top league for me. Their fans are utterly delusional, their current team is made up of hateful cheats and charlatans, they have ex players spread out across the media like a malignant cancer and a manager who resembles a hideous sexpest version of Mr Ed. I hate them. Zero redeeming features.
The players are on a high, they enjoyed 64% possession and smashed in the goals..should have been one more if Troy hadn't been so 'Iggy'. On Wednesday, we're not going to play the high press, don't expect Capoue and Doucs to be up high, it'll be the same tactics when we played them at home - surrender ground and possession. Which is a pity as when we went at them in the first 15 minutes, we had a disallowed goal and their keeper pulled off a great save. So I'm torn as I'd like them to have a go.
Heart says that we’d be be everyone’s (outside the red half of Liverpool) new favourite ‘second team’ if we could win, and they haven’t really had a ‘blip’ game yet and every team gets one. But my head says that we get battered there - and their front free will be rubbing their hands together to get back into hot form against us. The only chance we have is taking the game to them and hope they don’t pick us off. But we aren’t very good when we show top teams respect - it invariably goes too far and we sit back and it immediately looks like a matter of time until they score. 3-0 Liverpool.
If you take it to them, that's when they take advantage. You have to close shop for the first half and take them on the break second half. Their heads have dropped though and hopefully Firmino is not back anytime soon.
Firminio left the game on crutches so I don't think he'll play - Sturridge should start. I think Kabasele could start to try and negate Salah's pace - if he's fit, which I think he is. Got a horrible feeling Sema could start instead of Hughes, as he's more defensively minded...hope I'm wrong.
Pretty frightening but as this Merkel was described as a 'rising star of German football', it may not have been the one who played for us. The Irish hoodlum clearly not a Hornets fan. We don't have players called 'Jonny' these days. https://www.standard.co.uk/news/cri...am-raid-terror-at-hampstead-home-9383630.html
I really can't understand anyone predicting us getting battered - ok, they've been a bit of a bogey team over the years, but so were Crystal Palace, Derby and (most annoyingly), Oxford. Remember how no matter how well we were doing, we'd always get turned over by f***ing Oxford? It's time to get the monkey off our backs while they're there for the taking.
You can’t understand the thought process that we might get battered by a team that tend to batter us, haven’t lost at home and are top of the league?
I agree. This was the tactic earlier in the season used to great effect. Tire them out, frustrate, close shop and then switch it in the second half. I think now that Everton fans can see that Silva is a fraud we will try to help you out and get one over the red side.
A better plan is to get in their faces, bully them and kick them all over the park. Liverpool have nothing to match up to capoue and doucoure, who are very close to the peak of human strength, power and athleticism. Yes that overrated dutch terd will neutralise deeney, but we have two rolls royces in behind in deulofeu and pereyra who will run riot against their defence. The only way we lose this one is if we have any injuries or our defenders drop some clangers (which is sadly a high probability). Everton always shyt it against liverpool, we will show you how it's done.
We're just coming out of a 'slump' in terms of performances, I guess it depends how Javi sets us up. I wouldn't expect us to be too adventurous.
It depends which version of Pereyra and Delafoo turn up, the good versions are capable of putting 3 past the car thieving gypos with ease.
In an ideal world we'll soften them up with a heavy defeat and you can deliver the hammer blow to their title hopes!
They are below us in the current form table, and that was without Doucoure in our side for most of those games. Normally the table doesn't lie, but Liverpool being top is the exception that proves the rule. They have massively over-achieved so far, and (as previously mentioned) the sheer luck they've enjoyed is off the scale. Not a chance they win this - though I wouldn't put it past them to scrape a draw.
Even for the Pozzos that's a bit heartless. Also verging on a "though doth protest too much" - perhaps the "Jonny" was Hogg having been sent undercover by the Pozzos to help carry out the raid, thus frightening Merkel in to cutting short his loan agreement?!
The first one which sprang to my mind was Johnny Williams. As he would have been 67 at the time, he would have been more likely involved with the Hatton Garden heist.
What are you going on about re Oxford? I knew I had never seen us lose there so I looked it up. We’ve only lost to them twice since 1971, including 13 games unbeaten away.
You're right. Oxford must have been in my mind because of a game we drew 1-1 (I think) - it was a nightmare journey, I got a parking ticket and the game was terrible. Substitute Oxford for Blackpool. Actually, apart from Liverpool, who else is a bogey side for us?
Even more shocking is the bloke driving a Maserati. He’d achieved absolutely nothing in football up to that point, and he’s rolling around in a car like that. No wonder he was such a ****.
Hopefully Saturday will have helped our confidence after some very ropey performances even if the results were decent. However, Cardiff were genuinely crap and did gift us the two goals that settled the game so we need a bit of perspective I guess. This is very much one of a few free hits over a season although you always like to think you can get something out of any game. Liverpool don’t turn into garbage overnight and we lost to two arguably far more off colour teams in Man Utd and Chelsea at home. Hope to take a good positive performance out of this as we have six very winnable home games to go (of course I include Arsenal!). Would love to nick a point and there is a degree of pressure on Liverpool so if we can repeat the home game of being 0-0 after an hour i definitely see a potentially different outcome.
