I still believe that Oulare has the makings of a very good player, hopefully now that he's stopped growing and looks to have bulked up a bit the injuries will become less frequent - he's still young and has shown that when he gets runs in sides he puts in praise-worthy performances. In another season or two I reckon he could be a good option for us (at least as good a player as Okaka) and I hope we hold on to him long enough for us to reap the benefits of when he starts to fulfil his potential.
Part 2 of this weekend's round up: Dimitri Foulquier seems to finally be over his injury problems as he started for Strasbourg and assisted their goal with a clever cushioned header as they lost 2-1 to Lille. From watching him at Granada, he's a right back who can actually defend, would've been a good option for us. Cucho Hernandez played most of the game as Huesca won again to stay top of the Segunda Division. He was unlucky not to score with one outrageous header: In the battle of the non-scoring attacking midfielders, Amrabat's Leganes won 3-2 against Jurado's Espanyol. Amrabat came on as a sub for the last half hour, Watford legend Jurado was brought on by Quique for the last nine minutes to keep it neat and tidy. Real Valladolid B lost 4-2 at home to Coruxo, Velasquez and Alvarado starting, Suarez and Montenegro on the bench. Neither of our Almeria players (Estupinan and Marreh) played, although at least Marreh made the bench, just days after his signing. Estupinan is missing in action. No sign of either of the Matheuses - Santana missing from UCAM Murcia, Aias from Valencia B.
Oulare was MOTM in his last game. Actually kind of looks like a real footballer now. Held the ball up quite well https://twitter.com/official_rafc/status/958027906235715584
Folivi off the mark for Boreham Wood tonight, converting a penalty he won himself. They won their Herts Senior Cup tie against Hitchin 3-0 - shame we don't enter anymore.
Cucho now injured according to the Wobby. Some sort of metatarsal problem likely to keep him out for several weeks.
This thread was the only thing keeping me going. Now what is there to cling onto in this season of despair.
We might not say it often enough SLB but we love you. Take heart from fresh news to come from Pants, Success and the Ginger Maestro although he may not technically be a loan. Xx
Nathan Gartside recalled from his loan at Chelmsford City. He dropped a clanger on his debut and apparently took quite a volley of abuse from one of their fans so maybe all parties thought it was for the best to terminate the loan.
I'd love to be able to honestly say: typical Oulare, beast mode! ... but that is really atrocious goalkeeping.
As mentioned above, a goal for Oulare as Antwerp lost 2-1 at home to Wassup-Beveren in the Belgian League. Elsewhere, Dimitir Foulquier has established himself as Strasbourg's first choice right back after finally getting over his injury woes - he made his third start in a row as they lost 2-0 at home to Bordeaux. Amrabat, on the other hand, has lost his starting place and is now mainly a sub for Leganes, playing 13 minutes as they drew 0-0 with Getafe, for whom Loic Remy made a debut as a late sub. Brice Dja Djedje made his third start for Lens and played the whole game for the first time as they lost 1-0 at home to Sochaux. Malaga play tomorrow in a bottom of the table clash with Las Palmas, Penaranda is still injured but Success is in the squad. The Malaga manager is Jose Gonzalez who was the coach at Granada when Success and Penaranda played together which was pretty much the only time they've both lived up to their billing, so hopefully he can get a tune out of both of them once more. Don't really understand the Argentine league calendar but Zarate hasn't played yet for Velez Sarsfield. We also had a young Serbian on loan at Fluminense, Strahinja Karisic but his loan has been terminated as he's too old for the u20 team now but they don't want him in the full squad so will be interesting to see where he pops up next. Cucho Hernandez is crocked and not too much of interest elsewhere in our lower division Spanish loans. Sulayman Marreh and Pervis Estupinan both unused subs for Almeria, and only one of our five loanees still at Valladolid B started this weekend, Luis Suarez in a 0-0 draw. No sign of Matheus Santana or Matheus Aias, and Kingsley Fobi still injured. Pontus Dahlberg didn't play for IFK Goteborg, probably as he was too excited about signing for us and couldn't concentrate. Domestically, Alex Jakubiak had the best weekend, coming on as a sub and scoring a decent goal for Falkirk as they lost 3-1 at home to Livingston. Pantilimon played for Forest as they lost 2-0 to Slav's Fulham. Brandon Mason didn't play as Dundee United's game was called off. Randell Williams didn't make the Wycombe squad, Charlie Rowan was an unused sub for Accrington. Boreham Wood didn't have a game, so no update for Michael Folivi, Harvey Bradbury came back from suspension but only played the last six minutes as St Albans won 4-0 against league leaders Dartford. Connor Stevens played the whole game for Oxford City as they lost 2-1 to Concord Rangers.
Thanks for that Steve. Though you also forgot to mention that Hogg lasted a full 90 minutes as Huddersfield lost 2-0 away to Man Utd, though he received a booking. Shame we didn't recall him in Jan as he could have been a good replacement for Watson as cover for Capoue and Doucoure. Kenedy also looks to be progressing well as a left-winger at Newcastle, could be a good option for next season as a replacement for Zeegelaar in the LWB slot.
Just watched QSF’s Espanyol. 2-2. Opposition had 17 shots. QSF had 2. How wretched they were relying on striker brilliance to dig them out. Thank goodness we got shot of him.
The Jak is on fire! A brace for Alex Jakubiak in the Scottish Cup against Cove Ramblers of the Highland League as Falkirk won 3-1. That's four in three now and an assist to boot. Impressive stats, although I suspect the standard of the opposition he played this weekend was pretty abysmal. Brandon Mason is not having such a good time of it north of the border as he can't get in the Dundee United team... a reality check for those who thought he should've been starting ahead of Holebas last season. Isaac Success was dropped from the Malaga squad for this weekend's 1-0 loss to Atletico, somewhat embarrassing after he tweeted about how much he was looking forward to it. He wasn't injured, like fellow loanee Peñaranda, just dropped. Amrabat continued his recent role as a sub, being brought on at half time as Leganes lost 1-0 to Eibar. Dimitri Foulquier played the whole game as Strasbourg held off a late siege from Troyes to win 2-1. Oulare played 70 odd minutes as Antwerp got stuffed 4-0 by Kortrijk. Only one of our six players on loan at Real Valladolid B played, Luis Suarez started as they drew 0-0. Costello Pantilimon made an excellent penalty save but couldn't prevent Forest losing 2-0 to Hull. Michael Folivi was brought on as a time wasting sub in the 90th min for Boreham Wood. Connor Stevens played the whole game as Oxford City beat Hemel Hempstead 4-1, not sure whether Lloyd Doyley played for Hemel. Sulayman Marreh made his debut for Almeria in the Segunda Division as they lost 1-0, playing 62 minutes, getting booked and then subbed after being given a final warning. Pervis Estupiñan was an unused sub. None of our other loans played, either due to injury, fixtures being cancelled or not being in the squads.
