(source skysports.com http://msnsport.skysports.com/list....=8&clid=3&lid=3&title=Lehmann+in+police+probe) Jens Lehmann is facing a police probe after allegedly kicking a water bottle at Manchester United supporters. The Arsenal goalkeeper reportedly reacted to the taunts of the home fans after being struck flush in the face by Cristiano Ronaldo's shot during The Gunners' 1-0 win on Sunday. One supporter in Old Trafford's East Stand complained to police that the Germany international had kicked a bottle in frustration. And Greater Manchester Police have now confirmed that 'officers are investigating an allegation and enquiries are ongoing.' A statement read: "We have received one complaint in relation to an allegation that a water bottle was kicked into the crowd." ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- I realise that lehmann is a professional and as such should have a modicum of control over his temper but he is also a human being and there is far too much of this taunting of goalkeepers for my liking, I realise that this is part of the "banter" that happens at football matches but in this instance i feel that it was unjust for the fans to hurl abuse at a player who was oviously hurt legitimately whilst playing the game. I have played football and had a ball in the face as i am sure all of us have and I know it hurts like hell, if he was stil feeling the effects of this it is little wonder that he lost control for a moment and i feel that legal action against him is a bit harsh, the supporters shoul realise that in certain circumstances a player will become agitated by abuse he is receiving especially when, as in this case, it was unjust. The report says it all, "the Germany international had kicked a bottle in frustration" I am sure that there was no intent on his part to cause any harm to anyone and the supporter should be adult enough to take it on the chin and let it go. The way things are going if a player looks at a supporter the wrong way they will sue. It is getting out of hand now
Agreed, time the supporters started to think about what they are there for and to stop being such wooses, if your going to a game dont wind people up and you wont have any **** i say
