We look how well Sinclair did last year , not sure buying Liverpool rejects is the way to go ! In today's inflated market maybe 8m ,but 12 I think maybe a bit too much of a risk . However it's up to Gino and Marco !

Their were desperate to keep Sinclair, so hardly what I'd call a Liverpool reject.

Don't forget Silva worked with him for half a season at Hull. I'm pretty sure he would know his strengths and weaknesses and market value.

Of course , however my point stands 12m is a lot to risk for a player that failed at Liverpool and set world alight at hull , hence why I stated 8m a better risk than 12m ,even with Silva trying to get best out of him .
Liverpool have a lot more money to waste than we do , and let's face it last couple of seasons we have spunked away a lot of money on players requested by QSF and Wally that were *****.

  6. Norwayhornet

Maybe he might improve next season ,but he couldn't get in a ***** Birmingham side on loan so I won't hold my breath , hope I am wrong but so far seems like another 4m wasted, then 6m for oulare that's worked well , jurado was poo ,Suarez ditto , berghuis did have something ,but we won't see him again probably sell at a loss.
If we're going to spend a lot it may be worth spending a bit more getting a proven player say 18m ,rather than gambling 12m on potential.

I read somewhere yesterday that Man city , Chelsea and us wanted the most money on players that never played for the club that bought them ,Now I know we are buying for Udinese as well , but chelski and man city have agreements with other teams too.
Hughes is a great start to the window ,here's hoping we get a brilliant window.

  8. I appreciate what you are saying, but if, say, a head coach from one of those clubs that I didn't think he had proved himself at, said that he was worth a punt and was keen to get him on board, I think I might be tempted to do so.

Perhaps we could ask their opinion? If only we had access to one of the coaches he played under...

:D You're right, I know. Silva will have seen him day in day out so will know if he's a good fit for WFC, I've no problem with that.

It's just me, looking from outside in and not seeing much in the individual which would equate to a £10m/£12m price tag right now.
Of course, in the right team with players who compliment him - and no I don't mean constant cries of 'Nice haircut Lazar!' - that fee may turn out to be an absolute bargain.

I'll have my fingers crossed if he does come here for whatever fee, as I do any player joining Watford.

By we, I assume you mean the Pozzo's, and if they have spunked their money it obviously hasn't left them either skint, or unwilling to spend more. It's not our money, so let them worry about how much they spend and recoup.

Thing is mate, for all the gambles and 'spunked' money that we have spent - we have recouped it and then some (a hell of a lot) by staying in the premier league over 3 seasons. I'm happy with us gambling on these players because for all the spunk, there are the gambles that pay off - such as gomes, zarate etc. :)

Don't necessarily disagree with your point, but how the hell have you got to Zarate as a gamble that paid off?! He's played 3 games for us. Ever. It must have been a bloody small cheque we were paid with.

Exactly - he's only played a few games but looks like he could be a huge player next season. I agree that he hasn't fully made it as a gamble paid off, just yet, but just wait until 5/10 games into the season ;)

On topic, in Silva I trust, as an Arsenal supporting mate said, Marco Silva is the signing of the season

Who actually cares what money we spend on a player it's not our own personal money is it? If they want to spend £12m on a player let them! Silva and Gino and whoever else in charge of player buying will know what they are doing! We must be doing something right we've stayed in the premier league for 2 seasons and hopefully a 3rd

I Remember not to long ago when we overspend on Ellington things went wrong , we narrowly avoided administration and spent years paying that off, so forgive me if I prefer that Gino is sensible with the purse strings, consider , Pozzos leave sell to a Baz like owner ,we get asset stripped , relegated , do you really want to be lashing out 12m on unproven players?
The Will Hughes signing was an excellent one , let's keep this window upping quality but being sensible with the money .

If he's only delivering 5/10 games that's not good enough. We want at least 8/10 games consistently;).
i think we are pretty certain to stay in the prem for a 3rd season:D

Don't know about that m8. I bought a hot dog, bottle of Sprite and a coffee in my one home game last season, that gives me the right to wonder where my money is going.

Transfer policy is same as it ever was. In 1994 we were buying players for 100k, some were great, some were ok, some were duds.

These days we buy players for 8m -12m. Some are great, some are ok, some are duds.

I get what your saying but although it seems like Watford have ridiculous amounts of near limitless money to spend, compared to what we're used to, I still don't think there is an infinite budget. Therefore although I don't care because it's not my money, I do care because it may affect who else WFC could buy. Opportunity cost or something I think it's called from my vague distant knowledge of school Economics.

That said I've still no idea if it's a good or bad buy.

Sakho and Markovic have been left behind by Liverpool for their pre season tour. I still think Markovic will end up here before the transfer window closes.

I'd take Grosicki purely because his pace is what we're looking for. Don't think Berghuis or Amrabat are the answer so I'd expect two wingers in.
