Personally I'd be looking at teams that have been in the Prem in recent years who are probably in desperate need of cash. If you think we are struggling for cash I can assure you many of the teams in the championship are in a much worse state. I watch alot of Championship football, there are alot of talented players who fall into this category. There are many clubs that work like we used to, who sell off their best players each season. They trust that they can dip into the lower leagues and find a decent replacement and turn a profit on the player. It wasn't that long ago we would sell our top scorers for next to nothing... I'd be looking at players like Adam Armstrong ST Britt Assombalonga ST proven at this level Shuan Hutchinson CB Kristian Pedersen LB Patrick Baeur CB Being linked with Toney is great and exactly the kind of players who are hungry and can make the step up but I think we all know we won't even put in a bid and someone like Brentford will get him for £3mill and he will score in both games against us. Just like Maupay going to Brighton. We didn't even enter the running. We got a Welbeck... Sent from my CLT-L09 using Tapatalk
I think people are in for a nasty shock if they think we're going to be signing 6 or 7 players. This window is all about cashing in on who we can and filling the holes with existing squad members, returning loan players and the odd signing, the majority of which will probably happen towards the end of the window.
Assombalonga is a great shout. 27 years old, one year left on contract, Boro in the final year of parachute payments and he's probably on a decent wage after they bought him for £15m. Seems to have got over his injuries too. Bring him home!
27 starts, 8 sub appearances, 11 goals in a struggling team. Would be an excellent squad option for us.
Didn't we try and sign Pedersen before, either January '19/'20? I say try, I'm pretty sure we put in a derisory offer that Brum laughed off
