Don't know if we need this bloke, but we need someone skilled at the position that he plays, so it's at least interesting. If it's true that we're in for him along with Atalanta (and not just agent rubbish) then I'm encouraged. Atalanta plays good football and knows their business.

 

The only possible reason I can see him choosing us over Atalanta, if that is a reality, is money. Either that, or feeling like he has no chance of getting into their midfield.

 

He doesnt seem like the profile of player we desperately need and I am pretty sure he has been in contract negotiations with Osasuna in recent weeks.

Not saying we are not interested, but I think there is a decent chance this is just agent talk.

It's become quite a well-reported fact that Atalanta have a smaller wage bill than Reading, I'm not sure if that's true anymore as Reading must be cutting back by now, and I know we won't be spending huge money this summer, but it wouldn't surprise me if we can offer more money than Atalanta (despite the fact they'd whoop our arses lol)

It's rumoured that they are going to be hit by FFP penalties over the summer. If so I think they might regret not offloading a couple of players in January. They rolled the promotion dice & lost.

A 10 year contract is mental, without translating their press release though it looks as if his release clause is only €22m. Although we're not gonna pay that I'd imagine.

A bit odd to lock a player down with such a long contract but then have a fairly attainable release clause.
