Was supposed to be ‘best’...
I think he meant beat.....as in Samba beat.
As in samba beat Watford 8-0?
Well, it’s a pretty low bar in all fairness...
Chris Samba would have beaten us on saturday. On his own, blindfolded, with both hands tied behind his back, wearing giant 6 foot rubber clown shoes, whilst also preparing a 4 course meal for 12 people on the side of the pitch at the same time as playing alone against Foster Fookup Mapps Doorknob Holebas Caps Doucs Cleverly Ferminia Delbullshit and Hughes. Just saying.
It makes me sad that all of this post is true.
Mid March of which season though?
You did not say.
I'd be very surprised if he managed to snag a work permit. I'm pretty sure we only managed to get one for Richarlison due to his involvement with Brazil U20s (they look at youth caps if there's been no involvement with the senior international team - the higher up the senior FIFA rankings the team is, then they'll look at youth caps more favourably), Joao Pedro doesn't have any youth caps yet as far as I'm aware.
After Brexit, even Messi wouldn't get a work permit. EVERYONE OUT!!
Cherno Samba? He's the man to solve our problems.
Brexit notwithstanding, £££££ matter. If we spent enough, he can get one. Richarlison was over £20m, so that helped more than any obscure U20 caps.
True, final transfer fee and wages play the biggest part - although the JP final fee is a bit complex, with apparently £5m of the fee being dependant on whether he gets a work permit or not - but what happens if that 5m is the difference between getting a work permit or not?! My head hurts.
Presumably that's where the club's well-paid lawyer steps in to argue the £5m should be included in the calculations, given it's irrelevant if they don't end up awarding the permit. Whether the panel would accept that argument is up to them.
Given the rumoured interest around JP with the media reporting on top club's supposedly mulling over eating the "penalty clause", you'd think the club could make a strong argument about this kid being the nuts and deserving of a permit on that basis.
Not much we can do other than wait and see though.
I hope they’ve kept the newspaper cuttings and jotted down the HITC web articles in that case.
Happy birthday Pedro. Now officially a Hornet!!
Gray will be pissed off with this, already given Pedro his shirt number.
On Watford’s official Instagram, they’ve posted a video of Gomes saying Happy Birthday and saying looking forward to seeing him in January.
Seems a presumptuous tho g for the club to publish without some sort of confidence if his arrival perhaps?
Not quite. Contract doesn't kick in until January. Still time for him to be snatched away by bigger boys in the playground.
You can never say never, but we’ve gone so far down the road, with all the talk from the club sounding very confident, that I’d think it would be unlikely not to happen at this stage.
The impression from the club is he is now our player, although I admit it’s still a little sketchy.
The subtitles said “See you in January. God willing!”
So I guess he’s just hoping like us.
Yep. Still seems bizarre the club have allowed that though when it could have just been re-recorded. Maybe I’m giving the club too much credit for what passes through their media channels these days.
Might be seeing him on a visit back to Brazil ?
‘See you in January’
Big cup games at that time of year! When Gomes comes alive at Watford. He’ll go nowhere near Brazil then.
Probably just one cup game. January is 31 days
That's when we'll play all of our FA cup games tbf.
Hopefully as good as everyone told me Peneranda was going to be!
Joao Pedro has replied to Watford’s IG post saying ‘...until January.’
Sounds to me like there’s definite moves being made to get him in.
The translation is 'see u in january'
Actually the exact translation is "see u in January unless I get a better offer and you wont see me for dust...losers"
Looking forward to the Pedro/Cucho/Penaranda dream team tear upthe Championship. 150 goals each.
Will never get in the team ahead of Deeney and Gray.
So it sounds like we'll be enjoying his talents at the Vic for a good half a season before he inevitably moves on for big money.
Of course, he won't be able to train for a couple of months due to a vague work permit issue. He'll then need the customary three month bedding in period.
By my reckoning, then, he should be ready for our away trip to Arsenal on the 17th May. 17 minutes from the bench. Come on your horns!
He’d be joining us in January - the Brazilian season ends in December - so we can expect him to be knackered if he does come.
Amazing player. Made Rushden and Diamonds into world beaters.
