I can't imagine it will rise significantly every time that I've watched Granada recently he has looked useless. I watched them play Eibar last night and he had about five touches of the ball four of which he conceded posession.

 

This guy sounds like an upgrade on what we have - how much will this guy cost us you reckon?

I fully agree in principle, but there are a couple of issues.

It has been claimed by some, with some evidence, that failure to get promotion this season will be a financial disaster for us. We have large debts and extensive commitments.

Also, whilst I'd welcome a rebuilding of the squad in a more robust, loyal, all round less ****y mould, I don't trust the Pozzos to abandon their model to allow this, nor to appoint a coach (such as Pearson) who has the experience and gravitas to oversee such a rebuild.

I suspect we'll see those players you name, eventually phased out (thankfully) but replaced with similar who have no roots and are treated as commodities by the 'network' and who repay that with absolutely zero commitment whilst here.

He’s playing for a team 7th in La Liga, scored 3 goals (from open play) against higher opposition in a better league than us and is also playing in European competition.

He’s better than what we have. I’m not saying he’s have blasted us to promotion scoring 30+ goals - and he could’ve been stunted by Ivic’s tactics anyway - but I think he’s far better than what we have.

 

I’m less confident those players will be phased out and expect to see new contracts for some of them. It’s just in the Pozzo DNA to do that. I don’t trust they’ve learnt at all in the regard.

 

If we sold him, he's useless. End of.

 

I am not arguing that he is not an improvement just that I wouldn't be confident of him making much difference. Fair enough he has scored 3 goals in La Liga but two of them have come against Huesca and Elche who are down the bottom of the league and would arguably be worse than a lot of championship teams.

 

He’s also scored twice in the Europa League. I do get what you’re saying but there seems to be a wider thing that happens on here that when a player is doing decent stuff elsewhere at a level that’s easily comparative, that we downplay it because we have no proof that player could score or whatever against ‘Rotherham on a Wednesday night’.

I think there’s enough in what Suarez has done thus far at Granada to suggest he would have scored goals for us already and been far better than the two useless lumps we’re having to put up with.

The caveat, I accept, is Ivic’s style stifling any attacker you could potentially have given him - I still think Suarez would have been easily better though.

All a moot point now anyway!

Fair point. I've only ever seen that Haaland play once. And he didn't score. Didn't look anything special.

 

If you at implying that I have watched Suarez once then you are wrong because I have watched him play on several occassions. I think it's a fair judgement going of his performances and stats. Haalands stats speak for themself, so I am a bit confused about the point of your comment..

 

Only because you said it does - I don't understand by what logic you think that teams at the bottom of what is very often considered the joint best, and even more often most technical/skilful league, are worse than the majority of teams in the Championship?!

 

Don't get me wrong the sides further up the league are extremely technical but further down the league the standard isn't very good. It's Just my observation from watching games, might be wrong might be right.

Enough of the teams around the bottom half do regularly take points off those above them to be fair - although it tends to be when the bigger sides are in poor form. I think it’s just the fact that those lower down don’t really have many recognisable names, that there’s a bit of a misconception that they aren’t very good. I think most of them would easily compete in the Championship and a few would potentially survive in the PL.
