Nate is 26, hardly getting on.

 

Capoue rarely brought the ball out. Good at winning it back and playing it wide or accurately hitting long passes. But wasn’t really a runner with the ball anymore than the rest.

Cracking signing (I recommended him a while ago in the transfer thread) and I bet they got him for cheap too as his contract is expiring.

Exactly what we need in midfield really. Far more than Nate and Garner.

Tindall was adamant they had no money to spend - and since then they have added Wilshere and getting Pearson. So either their chairman has realised he needs to roll the dice a bit. Or they are selling someone.

Bournemouth back to their tried and tested method of hoovering up top rated young players from the division below. There's no great mystique to it, most of their team that got them promoted had been in L1/L2 teams of the year before they signed them and then they would make them a billionaire backed offer they couldn't refuse.

SSN linked us with Delph in the last window so wouldn’t surprise me if we went for him.

Leventhal saying specifically we do want a midfielder. No mention of a striker though.

 

Interest in Grimes? This is so detached from reality. How can we still have any interest when we clearly aren't going to spend the money it would take to get him out of a promotion rival?

Regurgitating **** from the summer because nothing is happening.

 

Not good news. Losing two players (Murray/Garner) and gaining no one. If it plays out that way, the automatics are done for. Play offs would still be possible/likely, although unlikely we'll get through them. That's my take on it anyway. Any financial limitations are largely self-inflicted and last season's policy of not investing correctly will hamper them for years to come. The only way out is to have been clever in the market in this window, but it looks like they are refusing to do that.

Shame, as an astute forward signing would make the difference. Some outlay at this point, would reap large rewards, but caution wins the day again. The crazy thing is I know they will say we kept Sarr, Hughes and a few other big players. This is all true, but wasn't enough. We can clearly see it at the halfway point what is needed, and that explanation will not cut it with me, or many other fans I suspect. The consequences of not going up this season will be devastating to the club, I suspect.

 

Unsurprisingly Delph is currently out injured - he had to be withdrawn 30 minutes in to his last start against Burnley at the start of December.

 

And on about £60k-£80k a week no doubt.

LANSBURY LOOKING FOR NEW CLUB

Aston Villa are keen to help midfielder Henri Lansbury find a new club before Monday’s deadline.

The 30-year-old is out of contract in the summer and wasn’t included in Dean Smith’s Premier League squad.

It’s claimed Bristol City are interested in signing him but Smith has distanced Villa from such reports.

 

Nakamba would be good but would think that Villa need him for cover, particularly if Lansbury follows Hourihane out the door (even if they’ve brought in Sanson).

Grimes would be incredible but utterly baffling. Yes he’s only got 18 months left and we might be able to offer him a pay rise, but obviously we’re not shelling out the price it would take for Swansea to sell one of their best players to a promotion rival. Maybe we also have unlikely interest in signing De Bruyne or Sterling too?

If we’re getting a prem loan I still think Gilmour is the right profile for us.
