January Transfer Window 2021

Obviously we're a long way off being a complete team, but obviously it's highly unlikely we do go and sign any significant number of players. Where do we go first? We've been doing OK at full back since moving tk a back 4, but even if Masina comes back and plays for us, we still only have 3 genuine full-backs in the whole squad. We currently have 3 Championship level strikers even disregarding Murray, but how much of a future does Gray have? Would we then be OK with Troy and Perica?
We probably need a creative force in midfield, especially if Hughes goes, and we could do with at least one winger (we seem to be OK down the left, but on the right it's only really Sarr, and is he even going to stay here past January?)

 

If we are serious about promotion I would try and get Vydra on loan. I don’t think he is good enough for the Prem, but as a short term measure he would be useful alongside Deeney

 

He doesn't really play for Burnley, but they're not exactly in a position to be letting players go, are they? Would love the little fella back mind you, he's still a good player who could do damage in the Championship

 

I wonder whether Burnley will want reinforcements in January. But agree they are unlikely to let him go unless they have better options

 

An energetic central midfielder like Gueds. Someone that is a mature, battle hardened player that can burst pass people, knock the opposition off the ball and get into the box.

Would love a better striker but think we won't be able to offload Gray so will be stuck with what we've got.

 

Hope they've lost their minds and are willing to accept a Gray for Vydra swap!

Sarr is guaranteed to be gone no way is he injured so a replacement for him is needed. I’d love to see us dip into the English market more I’ve been very impressed with quite a few players from teams we have played so far. There’s always at leasts 2 players that I think would be decent transfer business for us.
We won’t sign a striker as we have too many on the books as is but wing back surely has to be one of the main priorities. I think we will lose Sarr & Capoue for sure. We will probably keep both and hear the absolute guff from management that the window was all about keeping players and it’s a statement of intent... fcuk off!

 

He wants to leave according to his infamous agent but Burnley activated a clause in his contract that extends his contract for another year. I'd imagine this is so they can sell him for a bit of money rather than letting him go for nothing, so presume he's on the market.

Priorities are get decent fees for Sarr and JP. Get a loan fee for Deeney or Gray, if at all possible. Sign more Sierrelta/Murray/Perica quality.

 

Agreed. No need for any forwards the way we play so just bring in a few more defensive midfielders, and some more defenders. Importantly no LBs though, as the new signing from Charlton deserves a chance, and Ivic needs to be able to retain the lack of LBs as an excuse for every dire performance.

If bedwetters think Ivic is a poor appointment and we won't get promoted with the performances we are putting in, then yes.
If bedwetters think we shouldn't be selling players and should have kept the squad together because promotion was guaranteed, that we undersold Doucs, should have forced Esta and Suarez to stay or sold them for €50m, then no I'm not.

Creative midfielder is the biggest 'need' right now - if Masina is staying. If Masina isn't staying or won't be fit, we need a LB still.

You might want to check out the Everton forum (and also your own eyes for the past 18 months) No way did we undersell Doucs in the current climate, he’s rubbish... when I say rubbish, he’s rubbish for £25m. The Everton fans think he’s crap and not even worth £20m.

For anyone who does think we undersold Doucoure, Jota cost Liverpool £41m, is four years younger, can regularly find his team mates when trying to pass to them and has scored 5 goals so far and wasn’t relegated.

 

Creative midfielder and a left back. Do or die stuff at this point.

 

Sell Sarr, pedro and Hughes. Our delusions of grandeur will go with them.
