It's come from someone who isn't interested in football but does some sort of media work. He heard before half time and texted his mate who follows Watford.

    Don't shoot me.

I wouldn’t think he’d do it on purpose, but a bust up between players and the manager before the game could very likely affect concentration levels.

Ever had a row or witnessed a serious row at work?

I do agree the players do have to take some responsibility of course ..

Merely changing the manager yet again will not solve the problem. The problem goes way deeper than the manager.

We would all like to thank Troy for what he has done for the club in his time here. Overcoming adversity, personal problems, growing up on and off the pitch and becoming a fine centre forward underrated by many at his peak and not just the physical battering ram he is often portrayed as.

But there comes a time when no player even old Maradona is bigger than a club and they have to accept it is time to move on or retire because they simply cannot cut it anymore. Deeney should have been sold on a season ago and any money from his sale and wages invested in a new younger model such as Toney. Ivic is absolutely right that no player or players should be above the coach. Who runs the club then ? As I did say during the interval between relegation and the start of the Championship one Gino should have gathered everyone around at London Colney and told them what is what. That Ivic has his backing and that the players need to buckle down, train hard and follow his instructions.

If after that things were not working out then of course a manager has to suffer the consequences but the players deserve opprobrium as well for their efforts as well. Gino has made a complete ballsup behind the scenes in adopting Deeney as Mr.Watford.

The thing is the players did buckle down. There was a great attitide and atmosphere in the squad until Deeney came back and attempted yet another power grab.

Right now Id prefer it if the Pozzos fooked off and we cancelled the contracts of the senior pros who got us relegated. I want our club back.

The only other answer is Troy as player manager. No conflict then.

And he can play on forever.

If Gino is the leader he should be he removes Ivic.
He then calls Deeney to a meeting and explains that the coach has left. He then circulates to all and sundry that Deeney is for sale as are any other pros that have been involved in the constant undermining of coaches for the last five years.
He then calls the playing staff to a meeting to explain this.
    He then tells us.
Buck up Gino, you're in charge aren't you?

The best thing we can do with Deeney is take a bath with his salary and offer to cover as much of it as possible or needed to loan him to a Premier League club. That way we get him out of the way and he gets to have his ego artificially massaged. I reckon Wilder might be desperate enough and he likes a challenge when it comes to a player.

In this scenario Deeney would say all the right things but as soon as the new coach 'displeased' him he'd start undermining the coach. From the moment Ivic started questioning Deeney's physical condition earlier in the season, he was a dead man walking. He just didn't know it.

The new manager might have the following clause put in his contract.... "When reasonably fit, Deeney must start".

Does this mean that in the shoutbox when Deeney is playing we can leave him alone because we expect him to play? :D

We can't sell Deeney because of the contract he's on that no one will match. The only option would be to pay up his contract and we don't have the cash.

Player power is an issue, clearly. Many on here would be surprised at who the worst culprit is - because it sure as hell isn’t Deeney despite people wanting it to be.

For the record I’d imagine Deeney is a nightmare to manage and doesn’t help, but to try and pin all this on one player is naive at best. There is a toxicity around the squad that involves a number of them and the main one isn’t TD.

I had a very detailed chat with someone who works with the squad closely. The chat was about 18 months ago, I’ve just been recalling what was discussed and a lot of it rings true. He mentioned two names in particular who were particularly troublesome, one has since moved on and one hasn’t.

The bigger picture is that there is a general bad feeling around the club. Look back on the promotion season not at quality of the squad but the feeling that the players wanted to play, they cared about the club, they were all united. Right now we don’t have that. Huge changes are needed that will take a long time.

Yes that's definitely how libel works. Football forums are always being taking to court for the things they say about footballers aren't they?

    Don't be so ridiculous.

my thoughts for what its worth, which is about as much as a "we've learned lessons" quote from the board -

So another departure, and we just end up saying the same sorts of things every 6-12 months for the last few years, it doesn't really feel much different each time. Silva, Gracia, QSF phase II, Pearson and now Vlad the appalling, all seemed to utterly fail to motivate and energise for anything more than the briefest spells for long periods of their tenure.

There's some mitigating circumstances for each one of course, and Gracia and Silva did manage to get them playing quite well for at least a few months before it went belly up again. But the board get rid of the manager, keep most of the squad the same, say that they're backing someone new and learning lessons, then get ever more turgid performances as a result. I did feel supportive for a while, but since QSF II, Pearson, Ivic the tone of Scott Duxbury during that interview he did on Hive Live i'm afraid I really don't feel like they tell us the truth at all.

I presume all the departed managers have massive non disclosure agreements so they can't discuss anything but the most basic of comments, but I imagine they'd have some horrifying things to say if they could be frank. At the same time, I'm also not convinced it can be soley deeneys doing as some online warriors would say, if it was so obvious why would the club self harm itself to back one person? it is an enormous mess that I have no faith will get sorted anytime soon.

Oh great, it's mystery morning! First unnamed people in the dressing causing mischief. Now there's so much more about these forums that people don't know? Is that all defamatory too or can you share it?

Look, football forums are very rarely taken to court and when they are, like the Blackpool ones a few years back, it was for serious allegations of a sexual nature and corruption, not just one comment that said "I heard that so and so was a bit of a bad egg in the dressing room".

On another thread people were speculating that Foster and Capoue might've deliberately scored own goals to get Ivic sacked, you'd better head over there quickly and report those posts before the whole website is shut down!

Am yet to watch the 'highlights', but heard Capoue was laughing. Hopefully from embarrassment, rather than something more sinister.

Edit- seemed to be embarrassed, rather than smiling/laughing

Correct. With no cash for new signings, and no ability to move players on to realise cash and salary savings, we will have to make do with these demotivated wantaways for the rest of this season at least. Next to impossible to get them to play with any care or passion.
