Watford the only club to contemplate sacking someone the day they get their motm award. Might sign up for a betting account...

First of all congrats to Vlad.
Secondly how do we know we are thinking about sacking him?
Can we afford to sack him?
I like the fact he is becoming more confident in his pressers and the latest one where he mentions he has told the club what is required in January puts the ball firmly in their court.
No Championship clubs have ever experienced the schedule of this season so who knows what is right?
I'm still happy with the Ivic approach-make yourselves difficult to beat, keep picking up points and hope for better players to be available for selection in the future.
All about the bottom line and the only chance we have of Gino investing in signings next month is if we are challenging. We are certainly doing that.
We will at least make the playoffs with Vlad and if he gets what he wants from the board and players I have little doubt we will get promoted.

He looks like he's been served an eviction notice. There you go folks, the real Vlad, no wonder the players put in such average performances if this is what motivated them.

If he is regarded as the best manager in the Championship, I feel desperately sorry for the other 23.

Has any manager got the sack within a couple of weeks of winning Championship manager of the month?

We're running out of firing records to break so this could break new ground.

It’s probably why he hasn’t gone.

No one outside the fans would understand why he would get sacked.

Maybe I'll rephrase to the only club whose fans would not be suprised in the slightest if their manager of the month got fired.

Anyone saying ‘I back this type of football if it’s gets us up. Ends justify the means...’ is kidding themselves if they think he can then suddenly revamp it over the summer and compete in the PL.

Yes, we may look (at times) solid defensively in this league but we often look blunt up front and creaky at the back. We’d be thumped out of the PL.

An improvement in style is still required this season, good results or not. We have to return to the PL with some substance and pedigree/style - turgidly inching our way there will see us immediately struggle next season.

I don’t think any fan wants Ivic gone just because of our set of results so far as a whole - but some are extremely sceptical of the manner at which we have collected the points we have and how we will play moving forwards.

I wonder if the owners see promotion as a way of improving the finances of the club as a short term fix "take the money and run" rather than repeating the mantra of aspiring to be "best of the rest".

Relegation has been a humbling experience for them and us leading to us not having a bean to spend on players and having to ship a few out to Udinese to reduce the wage bill. If we get relegated in our first season back will they care if they can use the funds to improve the finances.

After all they say they are in it for the long haul so what's one season -that's what happened to AB and GT with no financial backing.

The immediate finances are a massive problem so that is why promotion is a must this season.
Who knows which players will be sold/brought in if we were to get promoted so that is a problem to worry about tomorrow.
This season is solely about the end result.I fear for our immediate future if we don't achieve it.

Even if we somehow did get promoted, which I strongly doubt, based on how we are playing, then we would be automatic favourites to bounce back down.

Our squad is woefully short of Premier League quality. We'd need virtually a whole new first 11 and as we've seen in the past with Villa and Fulham, that isn't easy to assemble in one window. That and the fact that we've been terrible at scouting and signing players for 3 years now, means that we'd have no chance of bringing in the required quality within the restrictions of budget and time.

But we're not going up anyway. We'll limp to January, sell anyone we can get money for and bring in more Sierrelta/Perica type players and get ready to settle in as a mid table championship side.

Darren Moore was sacked the other year for being 4th because basically like us they were playing poor football and just getting by or drawing too many games.

Just looked at the Birmingham fans site and they must have read some of our comments talking about us being in a false position.

Couldn't agree more. @mindthegap said hes happy that we set up as hard to beat. We dont look hard to beat imo. If you get at us we fold. A very weak underbelly and I could deal with this if we were flying forward at teams with pace and swagger and smashing in goals .its turgid boring football and I'm shocked that we're still top 6 .

Second best defensive record in the division would suggest you aren't quite correct.
The fact we've had to deal with multiple covid issues, lots of injuries and an unbalanced squad should in no way be taken into account.
BTW I am under no illusions that this squad is good enough for the PL.We are facing an imminent financial crisis and promotion would see that off.I'd rather my club survive and have a chance to flourish in the future than face potential disaster.

At this stage I can only assume Ivic’s master plan is to keep in touch as much as possible whilst conserving as much energy for the second half of the season, when we’ll suddenly unleash hell on the opposition.

Either that or he is just the most negative coach in history.
