Well, considering the money we spent on him and the amount of games he's had, out of the top of my head out of those who've had abundant playing time I can't think of a worse signing than him during the Premier League era, apart from Jurado.

But - admittedly a big but - he may still come good, he's still the right side of 30 and he's younger than Vardy was before he started banging them in for fun having only scored five league goals the previous season.

Yep. He has been so poor I'm sure there must have been some sort of con going on here. Were the Pozzos fooled into buying someone different to the brochure or was it a tax efficient way to pay someone they owed ? I really wish it was all part of an elaborate tax wheeze, but I fear the terrifying truth about this signing and all the other many, many expensive duds is that they are simply down to cold, hard incompetence.

These lists mix in players who didn’t really make it or fulfil their promise with those who hardly made an appearance, which is slightly unfair. However, wasn’t Belkalem astonishingly bad?

 

I think the lists just show that there's nothing special about our transfer dealings at all. A couple of jewels among a barrel load of shyt - just like every other club.

Not counting those who were fringe players at best, while I agree with some of these, some of the inclusions are somewhat unfair. Why Nyom, whose form may have dipped during the second half of the 2015/16 season (but so did everyone else's, possibly Deeney excepted) but was a key part of a solid defence that kept us up during our first season back in the big time? Parades was an unorthodox and inconsistent player but was useful for us in the Championship and was comfortable enough in the top flight without ever setting it alight, kind of like an upgraded version of Jordan Stewart. Even Pantillimon played his part in getting us to the FA Cup semi, although he shouldn't have been picked for that game.

And Amrabat, who showed some promise earlier on, might have been good for us if he'd been consistently played in his correct position, not as an out-an-out forward or wingback, similar to Jurado although I concede the latter should still have done better. A bit unfair to blame the scouting network when the managers aren't utilizing the players properly.

Also, some of these players had had distinguished careers before coming to us (Amrabat played for Malaga and scored a fair few goals, Carrillo for two of the big three in Portugal) so again it's a bit unfair to blame the recruiters if they don't work out here. Blame them for signing those who shouldn't have been signed in the first place, fair enough.

Ask for yourselves this - if the Pozzos have signed so many duds, how have they managed to turn a traditionally lower/mid Football League club into one that gets promoted into the Premier League not long after League 1 looked more likely and stays there for 5+ years? They must be doing something right...

At least Gray has scored some important goals for us.

Haha forgot they paid that for him. Would laugh so much if those ****s got relegated.

 

Ellington didn’t play any games for us in the last decade and was only technically a Watford player in 2010-11.
