Unless we think we'll get even less in the summer ?

    Was that an edit?

Even if not, the two parts of your post are directly contradictory - you can't complain that maybe "too much has been made of this" at the same time as being one of the most guilty of making too much of it in accusing him of being "unprofessional" and looking "like a price twunt" lol.

Who cares either way. The glory years are well and truly over. Hopefully him, Hughes and Pedro leave swiftly so as not to prolong the agony.

Forget about having an exciting player play for us for a long time. And if and when we do get one, they will be snapped up instantly by someone like crystal palace.

    It's over for us.

Yeah. I made too much of it. Obvs. If it makes you feel better I'll post an unreserved apology to Sarr in case I hurt his feelings.

I'll give Sarr one more chance before before going full sheet-soaker.

Sarr's latest post concerns me. Just revealed he has a giant CPFC tattoo across his chest.

    Sure sign he's off.

Genuinely wouldn't mind selling him for £20m and bringing in 3/4 players for £2-3m each. Suspect if we did sell him, it would all be used to pay down debt though...

    I would.

If you're saying £35m then maybe. Hoping that ship hasn't sailed and he'll improve minus the Ivic drag factor.

He must have signed a new contract. Removing your bio and pic on Instagram is a good negotiating tool.

For God sake why? Ivic and his turgid style ruined him. He should and possibly could be the difference over the next half of the season. Absolutely no chance in hell that he goes for 20m .
If the new fella can get the system right and our players showing a fighting spirit we'll be ok.

He's been playing a style of football that would have starved Messi of the ball, literally every player has looked worse this season because of the turd Ivi* was serving up. But yeah, let's knock £10m off what we paid and get rid. Dear lord...

We will have assumed we can sell him for £40m plus to cover debts and losses. If we sell for £20m we won't be buying anyone for £2m to £3m, we'll still need to find another £20m down the back of the sofa.

  16. Harrybassetthater

    Harrybassetthater Academy Graduate

If we sell for £20m we must ensure the big club that buys him provide a player or two in the deal. Hopefully we have a good dossier of all the big club's academy players plus all the players on the lower end of the 25 man squads. There are obviously some hidden jewels but I somehow doubt we are on the ball in identifying them.

I suspect, with vaccinations on the horizon, Gino would be confident of getting the same amount in the summer.

Well, we quite obviously overpaid for him given his performances both last season and this, I would've thought that was clear. And we're in a very different financial climate right now where it might be better to cut our losses.

And he hasn't been starved of the ball, only someone who hasn't been watching the games could think that. He's had plenty of the ball, it's not Ivic that made him unable to beat a man, check back and play the ball backwards when he's one on one with the last defender, or miss countless good chances.

Having said that, as I stated above, I assume that any money we got for him wouldn't be used to strength the squad so might as well keep him.

Often though if had taken on and beaten the defender, the options in the box were one lone striker surrounded by 3 defenders, with little to no movement from the midfield to support him, no wonder the kid is dissillusioned.
Hopefully the new coach has a more positive game plan, and can motivate the sulky players like Capoue, who we all know is far better than the pish poor performances he has been putting out there.

Surely it will depend on whether he is instrumental in helping us get promotion, which will be worth £100m+ a season. Plus, his value would go up if he does so.

But, if we don't get promoted, and his value has slumped, then you will be right, we should have cut our losses.

The thing that I don’t get about Sarr, especially this season, is that he must realise he is just about the quickest player in the division and yet he almost never seems to exploit that. Whenever there is space behind the defender he is facing he could just knock the ball forward and win the race to it before crossing or shooting. Unless Ivi* has been telling him “never do that” why hasn’t he?

As with the rest of the team, I suppose we shall find out in the next few games. Just play everyone in their correct positions and tell them to attack!

This is ridiculous. No coach in the world would tell a player "don't take someone on when you could burn straight past them and get a dangerous cross in or go through one on one".

We obviously didn't click in an attacking sense and maybe Xisco putting an arm around Sarr can get more out of him than Ivic's colder demeanour but the notion that Ivic instructed his best attacker not to attack is based on some pretty woolly thinking.

Yes agreed. Based on the first half of the season, I think we'd be better off strengthening elsewhere but obviously if he fires us to promotion then it's worthwhile keeping him.

Merry Christmas to you and your family.

He has the look a player that is going through the motions - he isn’t the only one. It will be interesting to see whether a more attack minded coach ex. winger, can get more from him. But I wouldn’t be surprised if he left in t he window as he is barely justifying his place in the side

I guess he's been made aware that if he races forward from wide no-one will be with him to cross to, so has been told to hold the ball, which leads to at least two markers facing him up when he's static. To be able to race forward and shoot he'd have to be playing central, when, unless it's a very early ball, he'll face a midfielder and two defenders, so will then risk losing the ball centrally by trying to bundle his way through the flying boots and elbows.

I said this to my friend the other day 9 times out of 10 he can just knock the ball passed the full-back and go passed him but we rarely have anyone in the box because they can't keep up with him. If it's Troy playing up front he is usually about 25 yards behind Sarr when he does get passed the fullback.

It was a combination of things with Sarr. It was easier to spot with red button games and the one angle. You could see he was often standing right on the touch line but not moving at all. We kept the ball far too long and rarely looked to play him in, but equally he rarely made any runs either. Some of that would’ve been down to Ivic but not necessarily all of it. It will be harder for him as well as most defences sit deeper. We just need to get the ball to him quickly and it needs to be assumed that he’ll be making the appropriate runs.

I've seen no mention of the amazing " run back " he did around 80 minutes v Norwich to stop an attack, the first time he really put his all in to his defensive duties. He biggest strength is his pace, use it and we usually win the game!

Yes he really showed his pace there, and some strength to ease their player off the ball.

We need more of that from him in the other direction. We haven't been playing to his strengths under Ivic but he needs to grab the game a bit more. Has taken quite a kicking in some games but again would like to see him stronger at times, bit too much of the Zaha's recently.
