He is fit. We've just decided not to use him until halfway through the season as it worked so well last time.
He went home to Africa where it took a lot to drag him away. There was nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do. And it rained a bit. But don’t worry he’s here now.
Our caring masters felt he needed to go home to a country with no air-bridge rather than concerning themselves with the season to come. Good bunch.
to be fair who could have known that somebody that fast , with that kind of raw talent was worth playing
Did Kilimanjaro rise like Olympus above the Serengeti this time? Or did he just realise it would never scan and it was a stupid comparison?
Weezer famously covered Africa recently but not as many people know that Toto responded by covering Hashpipe
Kilimanjaro is about 200 miles from the Serengaeti, so not only doesn't it scan, it's also a blatent lie.
I always thought it was “a lepress”, not “Olympus”. Which makes even less sense. Down in Cornwall on holiday at the moment. Two sixty plus year olds were blasting this out via a “ghettoblaster” on a bench overlooking the sea on Tuesday. They seemed unlikely louts. Ironically, the next track was “A Kind of Hush” by the Carpenters.
I always thought it was 'rises like an Empress' which I think is actually better than the correct lyrics.
I thought it was ‘an empress’ but saw ‘Olympus’ in lyrics somewhere. It’s a bit stupid to compare the two, as Kilimanjaro is twice as high as Olympus. It makes no poetic sense to use it as a simile.
I will never listen to this song again, nor will I believe anything that Toto say. "Hold the line" ? No, they can **** right off, we're not playing the offside trap tonight now.
'Africa' is shot through with obvious references to the Wuffurd squad, There's nothing that a hundred men or more could ever do, clearly a comment on our bloated squad size, I stopped an old man on the way, could be any one of our recent first choice goalkeepers.
"It's gonna take a lot to drag me away from you" - Deeney reference ? "I seek to cure what's deep inside" - Giraldi reference ?
Queen lyrics used to stump me when I was a kid. "Beelzebub has a devil for a sideboard" and "She's a killer queen, dynamite where her legs have been" were two I remember fondly
As a kid I thought Prince sang “Little Red Courgette” and Mel & Kim “Inspector Bong”. A friend did even better and recalls The Jam classic “Eat Two Lightbulbs”!
According to the twittersphere, Liverpool are doing all the ground work now to sign him in January. Supposedly they will not make a bid this window as he is not their priority.
What groundwork? You have the cash you make an offer. What else is there? Those sorts of tweets are total carp.
One they are eying up for the future.. Won't rush into offering big money and will see if we are desperate for money in January.
Well if we're selling Estupinan and Suarez, along with Pereyra and Deulofeu, and potentially some kind of fee for the likes of Deeney, Capoue, Dawson, then no, I don't think we'll be desperate for the cash
