This whole rumour of Palace and a loan deal came about from a Watford fan who has been pulling strings of opposition fans since last month.

Somehow people have fallen for his ITK nonsense, which he has even admitted to in replying to other posters threads, yet the twitter community still follow him. He’s account has been active for about 3 weeks.

It’s hilarious seeing all these Palace fans fall for it though and give it large.

Can’t wait for us to pass them on the way up next season as they come crashing down to the championship where they belong.

That would be sweet, but they are better run than us. I can't see them making the foolish errors we did. They've been up for longer, and it looks like they will still be ok next year.

I’m not so sure. They finished the season like we did the previous year, cup final aside, they also have an ageing squad. Zaha hasn’t been great and selling him might help but not sure who to. They still have Benteke
The promoted sides look reasonably strong so might be a tough year for Palace. My tip for the drop

I don't see it personally. They always find a way. They make smart signings. Their defense is solid and they have some quality in attack, like Zaha or maybe Sarr next season.

I think Sheff Utd will find it a lot harder and I believe the "establishment" will go after Burnley, so they will be down there also. Leeds will be fine, they will get the Villa treatment next season, and will stay up no matter how bad they are. Flem will probably struggle a bit, West Brom will be down there, and Newcastle could be the clown outfit but this depends on the takeover of course.

We will agree to disagree. They have the oldest squad in the Prem, form from last season going into this season is key, especially with the short break. Their form is shocking! They barely scored more than 1 goal in most of their games. They have Benteke as their main striker. In fact they scored the least amount of goals in the entire league last season outside of Norwich, 31 goals in 38 games. Benteke is their main striker. Zaha wants outs and his form last season was that of a player sulking he didn’t get his move. He has already told them again this window he wants to be sold, he doesn’t want to be there. They got extremely lucky in a lot of their games last season where they were by far the worst team in the match but snuck a 1-0, 0-0, 1-1. Eventually that luck runs out, age catches up and their form is free falling.

They are definitely one of my favourites for the drop.

Around the start of the restart, with all that was going on there, I'd have been fearful for Burnley, but credit to them, they had a fantastic end to the season. Whether they struggle to replenish the ranks, I don't know, but they're a hard day's work for anyone other than City seemingly. By the looks of it, I don't think Palace will be doing much business unless Zaha leaves, which he may not, and with the form they're on, as well as their squad profile, they're in trouble. Sheffield United should be fine, I don't see them dropping 20 points on this season (and with the difficulties the teams down the bottom will have, who knows, maybe it won't even need 34 points to stay up. Looks like they've got the highly sought after Antonee Robinson too, which is a smart bit of business.

Villa won't be able to spend big again unless they sell their best player in Grealish, in which case they're stuck with their largely very average bunch
West Brom and Fulham will obviously find it tough, Leeds may do too, but their trump card is Bielsa, I think they'll have enough points in the bag by about March/April time to cover the usual Bielsa collapse at the end of the season

Palace had the lowest XG of any team in the PL last season, had second fewest shots per game, second fewest shots on target (equal with us) and second fewest goals scored, second fewest also from open play.

However, they did have second highest number of dribbles and fouls drawn, with 45% of attacks coming down the left side, more than any other teams in the league.

Basically, going forward they are awful and hugely reliant on Zaha.

Team is better defensively, but they still made the fourth lowest tackles and third lowest interceptions, (implying their midfield isn't very good at breaking up play and preventing chances being created) and still conceded more shots than us from a similar xGA, even though ultimately they conceded fewer goals. If they hit a bad run or lose confidence, a mid-table defensive record can very quickly turn into relegation form.

So they would start to look very ropey indeed if they lost a goal threat from Zaha and I'd have my money on them to go down even then.

#WatfordFC Interest in Ismaila Sarr growing. Watford ready to fight hard & will want well over £40m record fee they got for Richarlison.

Paid £30m for Sarr, 4 years still on deal, good first year in England.

    Liverpool keen.

    Story with @LynchStandard:

    https://t.co/vn8uviROFV

Some Liverpool fans are convinced they can get him for £25m though!

    Edit: The follow-up tweet:

One possible idea with Sarr would be loaning him as market not great to sell in now.

Then Watford get promoted and bring him back - or he has a brilliant season and value goes up.

Not sure Pozzos would go for that though.

I have seen opposition fans saying this quite a bit recently, I spoke to a couple of palace fans that reckon 20 million will do it, by the looks of it it seems a lot of supporters have no idea. Liverpool are going to have to double that to make it worthwhile, 25 million don't help us out that much as I assume we still owe Rennes money for the transfer of Sarr and its quite frankly well below our evaluation.

This interview with Sarr is well worth reading:

From Génération Foot to Stade Rennais and, for a year now, in the United Kingdom, Isma*la Sarr continues to learn to reach the heights of football. The talented 22-year-old winger joined London and the club Watford for 5 years in the 2019-2020 season. A year later, the Hornets are relegated to the Championship, but the former Metz player has not lost any of his value. Acquired to the tune of 30 million euros, it is valued more expensive, between 50 and 70 on this transfer window, by researchers from the Football Observatory. Found in his brand new house in Saint-Louis where he is currently on vacation, Isma*la Sarr returned to his season in this interview he gave to “Les Échos”. As for his supposed transfer this summer, Sarr says he has not yet received an offer.

Les Échos: Isma*la Sarr, you joined the English championship this season. How was your integration into the Premier League?

Isma*la Sarr: After my transfer to Watford, I had a lot of trouble adjusting. It was not at all easy to join a country that I did not know before, to change the language, but also and especially football. Everything had changed. I went three or four months without playing. It was later, with the change of the first coach, that I started playing. I finally started my adaptation with the new coach. I went through the matches and I felt in my element. I was able to join in with the rhythm of the Premier League. Physically, I didn't have too much pain to impose myself.

Your pace was still stopped by the arrival of the Covid 19 ...

It's not just me but all these beautiful footballing people. For my part, I was on a good pace and it was after that that we had to stop the championship because of the pandemic. But still, I had the opportunity to train at home and do as much exercise as possible. It helped me a lot to keep in shape to be able to play my games fully, that is to say to hold 90 minutes. But we must admit that these times were very hard for all of us.

How did you experience the confinement with your wife and your little girl?

It was not at all easy. We did 3 months without being able to go out as before. You always had to stay at home, sometimes going shopping. It was really hard to get used to this situation. You had to put on masks all the time. My wife and my daughter Maman (who bears the names of her mother and his wife's mother) did not go out. I did all our shopping on my own. (Laughter) sort of, I was the one facing the pandemic. No, but seriously, it wasn't easy for everyone.

And then, how was the resumption of training with the team?

On the restart, we suffered in training, yes, it was not easy at all. We ran a lot, but luckily we hadn't stopped training. We did it separately at home. We tried to keep in shape and now everyone knows the rest.

After a period of confinement in Europe because of Covid-19, the English championship had resumed, but unfortunately for you, your team was relegated to the Championship at the end of the championship. How did you experience this period?

Personally, the relegation of Watford hurt me a lot. I didn't think we would come to this. I told myself that we had to do everything not to go down in the Championship. However, we did our best to prevent this situation. You should know that this relegation is not the result of our last performances. Because during the championship, we lost easy matches that had to be won. We also often fell at home. For example against Everton, we led 2-0 and finally we were joined by the score to finish the match at 2-2. It wasn't because of the games against Arsenal, West Ham or Southampton, but it was long before.

If you had to take stock of your season at Watford, would that be positive or negative?

At the end of this season, I told myself that I failed my mission. I would have liked to help my team to stay in the Premier League. It's a failure for me. I really regret it.

Can you come back to your match on February 29 against Liverpool?

We prepared for this match as we did for all the others this season. I was coming back from an injury. I had come back during the match against Manchester, I had only played 10 short minutes. Against Liverpool, I didn't even think to start the match. The coach had confidence in me, he put me among the starters. Liverpool are a great club, but you had to make a difference and try to win, but above all not to lose. We were looking for at least one point if we did not have all three of the victory. God made this game win. I scored a double and we won 3-0.

We can say that it was this match that even really launched you in the Premier League ...

Yes it's true that this is the match that revealed me to a lot of people. It was a big blow to mark my presence in the Premier League. I gave myself completely. I followed the coach's instructions and did the right thing, score goals. It did me a lot of good to see this match start me like that.

You won in front of Sadio Mané who happens to be your big brother and idol ...

(Laughs) seriously, when I enter a field, it's to win. It's my job and I love it when it's done well. I don't ask myself a question. I also don't worry about who I play against, whether we're a brother or not. Sadio, my big brother, came to win and so did I. Someone of us had to win and it fell on me. Fortunately I had the chance to win and we moved on. It didn't change anything in our relationship as brothers.

After this match too, he "confided" you to your team captain, can we know the relationship, which followed this act of Sadio Mané, between you Troy Matthew Deeney?

Our captain is a really good person. He is very nice to everyone. In the field, when we make mistakes, he comes to us and helps us stop making mistakes with advice and encouragement. When Sadio asked him to take care of me, it brought us closer even though we have a good relationship. He always cares about what I'm doing and helps me progress better. He's a good teammate and a good captain.

Lately your agent Thierno Seydi spoke about your future which depended on the fate of Watford. Now that your team is relegated, what future do you have with Watford?

Really, right now (laughs), I really don't know what to say. We are going to play in the Championship since there is no transfer yet.

What about your supposed transfers to Liverpool or to other big teams in the Premier League?

(Laughter) I'm at the same level of information as everyone else about these transfer rumors. Every day, like everyone else, I receive information like what I'm going to play for Liverpool, Manchester United etc ... But really, for the moment, we have not yet discussed it internally.

With your agent you did not receive an offer?

I admit that there are other agents who talk to me about proposals from important teams, but for the moment, I remain quiet in my corner. I continue my work and the rest, my agent and my team will take care of it. Because whatever happens, you need the backing of the club.

We also saw the information saying that Watford was ready to release you

(Laughter) That anyway is… you let me know anyway. I still have years of contract with Watford, another 4 years. If Watford wants me to stay, I'll play in the Championship; my departure also depends on them. This is what is most normal for me.

If, however, your release is confirmed, would you be ready to join Liverpool and Sadio Mané?

Liverpool are a really great team, everyone would love to play there. They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year. But also there are great teams in the English league. Frankly, I have yet to make a choice. If that were to happen, I just wish they were a good team. At the moment, there are only guesses.

If you've made it to Watford, aren't you aiming for a higher level?

Yes of course, everyone who works is looking for advancement. Maybe if Watford frees me one day I could go and play for a bigger team. Go and showcase my talent elsewhere and then win trophies.

Would you be tempted to come back to France in Paris or Marseille to play the Champions League?

Go back to France, yes why not… Playing the Champions League is a dream for all players. I have already had the pleasure of playing in the Europa League so if these teams want to have me in their devices, let them discuss it with Watford and find an agreement, I would not say no.

It sounds like he will be happy to play for WFC this coming season unless we choose to cash in on him. He does say he has ambitions to play at a higher level, but he also says he would be more than happy to stay with WFC for now.

Basically it does not sound like he is pushing for a move, which has to be great news for us because if we decide to cash in on him we will be able to set our price and stick to it. Furthermore it seems that he will not be unhappy if we tell him that we want him to stay, which would be my personal preference, and that is what I hope we do.

He seems like a genuine grounded lad, which means he is nothing like our last so called super star who stopped playing after half a season then jumped ship at the first opportunity and ****ed off with The Snake to the Scouser Blues

In these times of player power I'm afraid it does matter what he thinks.

If he said he doesn't want to play in the championship and pushed for a move then I think we would be forced to sell... probably at a sub-optimal price.

I think it's very good news that he says he's happy to stay and play at a lower level. It means that, if we do sell, it will be at the best price. However, if we don't then he has made it clear that he's ok with that too. Win win imho.
