Fingers crossed for Ismaila to flourish at the Vic and contribute to another successful season or two. Welcome to Watford.
Lets hope he has a brilliant first season in the Premier League (15 goals 10 assists) and Everton bid £75 million for him next summer (£55 million cash + Richarlison)
To save people watching it for near 15 mins, I can give you an overview. First couple of minutes it looks like the medical team are trying to clone him... Then they try to hypnotise him... Then they look like they are showing him how to work the central heating... Then he says hello to a few teammates whilst clearly having no idea who they are... Then he wanders around the training pitch solo looking like he’s completely lost and just wants to go home... Then he gets on a treadmill whilst Deeney wanders past asking if he wants anything from the chip van... Then Chalobah gets involved and sets a rendezvous for the medical room in a few days... And the lad looks less than miserable for 99% of it.
Not sure if you were watching the game, but Niang celebrated in classic 90’s style by lifting his shirt to reveal a message for his dearly departed friend. It read “R.I.P. Sarr”. Read into that what you will.
Apparently Rennes had a 16 y/o play in CN last night and he ran the show. Gino preparing a bid of £13 quid against the £15m asking price as we speak.
I'm hearing it's a matter of dotting the Is and crossing the Ts. Family being shown round the Vic as we speak. Player to join in the January 2027 window.
Exciting times as I believe that’s when Cathcart and Mariappa will have their contracts extended by 4yrs each, Wilmot will be thought of as a winger and Okaka will join Udinese on loan for the 14th time.
I'm hearing he can, but is only 4ft 5inches tall. He's certainly up for it, but not up enough. Best to ask "The Athletic".
4ft 5” and trying is better than 6ft 3” and looking lost like we currently have. Mariappa of course straddles both outcomes.
Surely going to be on the bench with Deeney injury meaning GD and Pereyra will start Saturday plus one of Gray or Welbeck .
Well still not starting . Do Senegal play next week ? Saving him for 2 games where we hardly be attacking.
In this moment, he is showing far too much competence to be part of this team. Makes sense to inexplicably keep him on the bench until his optimism is trained out of him.
Hopefully we can recoup some of our outlay for this chump in January. Looks completely dopey and not at all at the right level for a £30m+ PL signing. Had two or three opportunities today to take a touch and get away from his man. Almost every time the ball bounced off him and when the camera zoomed in he had a look like ‘what, was that my cue?’
Sarr will take time to adapt. To say we should have spent that money elsewhere looks an under statement.
Come on now. 21, doesn't speak the language and making his full Premier League debut in a team woefully short on confidence. I think we can cut him some slack while he adjusts.
All of which points to a woeful recruitment decision then. So far cutting him slack has meant he's missed almost all our matches so he can acclimatise, while the team has tanked. Then today he comes in and can barely control a football and generally looked like he was shocked whenever it came near him. A signing of that value should be straight into the team and contributing, at least in positive play if not goals/assists. Yet the club just punts out content saying how shy he is and how much we need to nurture him. Barely sounds like a professional footballer to me. Those really sound like characterisitics fit for a relegation scrap...
