Everton are a club split top to bottom on who they want as a new manager. I would be very surprised if Marco or Dyche swop what are great working conditions at their current clubs for that load of rubbish. If Unsworth had any sense he would put the board on the spot and ask for a decision NOW. Everton and their fans currently living in La La land! As Ricky Tomlinson might have said 'Diego Simeone my ar5e...'

All he'd have to do is get a top ten finish out of a very decent squad to be hailed a hero. And he'll get paid £6m to do so with £100m to spend in the next couple of transfer windows.

You'd have to question the sanity of anyone turning that down to stay at Watford or Burnley. Come off it.

The grass is always greener... Everton currently have an unbalanced squad. They will take a whole season to turn around. Even when conditions should be ideal, talented players and big budgets managers fail. I reckon both Silva and Dyche have nothing to lose and more to gain developing their current projects. If they keep doing the good things when expectations are low their reputations and CVs will be enhanced. Bigger clubs than Everton could come calling by season's end. Football is very much a risk business. Moyes probably thought he had it made going to United and look how that turned out.

Still it would be completely illogical for Moyes not going to Man Utd. He had a once in a career opportunity and blew it. That said he still gets the West Ham gig after relegating Sunderland in last spot after they had successfully avoided the drop for about a decade. I think he did fine out of it despite being a below par manager.

He'll get us a top 10 finish this season and will take over from Klopp in the Summer.

They are only unbalanced in that they have crap strikers. And silva has proven he can get a tune out of a side with crap strikers...

Given that everton are moving to a new stadium and have an owner with bottomless pockets, the next manager there could quite easily turn them into the tottenham of the north. What manager with ambition would say no to that? Everton is one of the most attractive jobs in the world right now I reckon.

Or he could stay at watford and finish 12th on a fraction of the salary and let someone else take the glory I suppose.

Everton also have a dysfunctional midfield and slow defence. They are also a long way behind Spurs in terms of a young talented integrated squad. Moving to a new stadium...not without its risks and hiccups? Ask Spurs or even better Wet Spam fans on that one. Owners with bottomless pockets? See latest about Lester's Thai owners. No I expect Marco to at least see out the season with a properly run football club (albeit small and unglamorous).

Really don't get managerial attraction with Everton. Its been an abysmal failure for last 3 decades, consistently failed to live up to the media's very generous identity & hype of having vast potential. Theyve fallen as a top club & will never break into grip held by top 6. If based a mile from Stoke rather than Anfield none of the bluster would exist. If you're gonna go Marco at least move to a club where managers are not historically proven to fail

You know football is the last place to look for that! And our club is as guilty as any really (eg the ruthless treatment of joka)

I dont disagree with much you say there, but you forgot to mention the bit where he quadruples his wages too....Anyway, time will tell. Obviously I hope you're right and I'm wrong.

You're right, they were. But if it's true that they are moving to an ace new stadium and the owner is as rich and willing to spend the dosh as is said, then the past is utterly irrelevant now.

I think they were one relegation away from oblivion at any time in the last 30 years. Such a shame it never happened.

Please dont get me wrong, I am praying all this new stadium, new owner stuff turns out to be lies and they get relegated and plunge down the leagues. I despise them for their cheating in 84.

Not denying any of your points. Just that despite the new investment, Everton will probably take a few years to challenge the top 5. And I will be the first to boo Silva lustily every time he rocks up at the Vic if he does a Brendan Rodgers and leaves us after a third of a season!

Surely anyone going to Everton would see as a stepping stone to a bigger job in a couple of years time, like arsenal or with a champions league pedigree like benfica

True. But there are plenty in the game who once exhibited those qualities although you'd probably have to go back a bit to find a time when it was the norm. Anyway, there's nothing to stop any individual choosing to have a bit of integrity. Being mercenary isn't compulsory.

Entirely agree re. the Joka. But he was out of contract. However, making him the derisory offer of an extra £1k a week after getting us promoted and then pretending that negotiations broke down due to the Joka's greed was, as far as I'm aware, the most disingenuous thing that Gino has done at our club to date. He wanted him gone because Quique had been lined up well in advance.

Anyway, Marco has signed up with us for two years. But I doubt if any of us would really begrudge him if we get over our recent difficulties, sort out the defence, finish really well and then a big offer comes in for his services in June.

However, if he was to bugger off right now for a pot of gold, leaving us in the lurch after eleven games just when we've got to like the cut of his jib and his style of football then he'd simply be a c.nt. And the respect that I currently have for him would be swapped for an urgent desire to give him a damn good kicking.

    But I don't think it'll happen.

That's the drummed up theory with Everton & zero substance - a fallacy ! They masquerade as a top club & no-one questions it. Truth being its a failure & never lived up to the media spiel

Suspect they may end up giving Unsworth the job until the end of the season and maybe then come back in for Silva. Of course they may face some stiff competition by then.

If he wants the Everton job, then I don't want him here another second, but we should hit those scouse barstards for every last penny of compensation possible, AND put a further claim in for tapping him up, because they've sure as hell had some sort of contact with him.

Everton have a lot of cheek. The power relations in football have changed and they are in a long-term decline.

I'm resigning myself to him going, I feel like we've been here before a few times. Money, and to some extend 'status' (maybe) will have their way. As people have said, if he wants the job, then cheerio.
