Well, you could say that about anything. Maybe Cathcart would have got sent off later in the game as well, seeing as he could have been a bit less cautious with 11 still on the field. Maybe a Bournemouth player could have been sent off because he tried a bit harder against 11 men and overstepped the mark.

Basically what you are saying, whilst not impossible, is unlikely and without any real rationale behind it. You could also say maybe had Kabasele stayed on he may have scored a hat-trick. Who knows.

You can only extend a hypothesise so far before it loses plausible credibility.

That’s fair, but it does have rationale to the point that Kabasele had been a bit clumsy in those few games and was already on a yellow. It also has the reason that some people, yourself included, believe that Moss likes to penalise is so there’s a thought process that maybe Kabasele would have fallen foul of him again in the next 60 mins.

It’s fine that you disagree but I would say there was just as much, if not more, chance of the above happening than of us coming from 2-0 down. But I still believe ultimately, both to be less than 20% chance of happening so unlikely.

I’m not sure it’s really possible to go down from our position. If would have to be an unheard of extended period of horrendous form.

That said I agree we may well be looking at 8 points from 36 by the time we play Cardiff and there will be pressure to win. I’m pretty confident Pozzo won’t invest heavily in a striker this winter either. 17th is fine for them and we are virtually safe. So I wouldn’t be surprised if this follows all the other seasons as we have a bad run of form before perking up in some key games.

Although we do have a lot of strikers, none of them can take chances often enough. This has been proved over the past few seasons. They are all good forward players, but none are goal scorers, and this has been Watford's biggest problem this season. All their good work has gone largely unrewarded.

Now, by the time we play Cardiff, unless we get an unexpected good result in any of the next 3 matches, there will be pressure on the game. I think we will win, but Cardiff seem to be quite hard to break down. We only need another poor decision to go against us and it could be a problematic match.

However, to go down? No, we are far too good for that. Our recent bad run of results would have to continue for virtually the entire season for us to go down. We realistically only need 6 more wins to probably be safe. For us to go down we'd need to get 18 points or under in the 25 remaining matches. I really cannot see us being that bad.

I’d leave the attacking players we have already until the summer where we can recruit more wisely and prudently - no one will be selling a PL ready striker for an affordable price in January. Add Penaranda to what we have and get by.

I do however think we should be looking to add a decent CB in January and offload the ones taking up wages/squad places.

Cahill or Christensen on loan and get Kaboul/Britos/Zeegelaar out the door. Keep Prodl over the other two CB’s for depth and the lesser of the 3 evils as it were.

I learnt many years ago (the hard way) that "debating" football with other fans is a pointless exercise. One man's (or woman's) favourite is another's boo-boy (or boo-girl). One sees a game in a totally different light to another - even if they are sitting next to each other in the stand!

I suppose my issue is one of increasing reluctance to wade through your to-ing and fro-ing. However I have taken your advice and am at the moment pleasantly ignoring your debate at my leisure (apart from a cursory glance or two....). Neither of you seem to be right, but conversely neither of you seem to be wrong. At least both of you are not so relentlessly negative as some on here, thankfully.

Nice one. Haven’t been in there for about 10 years, but I drove past when I was in the UK last summer and thought it looked like they’d done a decent job. I’ll give it a try next time I’m back in town.

"Sensitive" - I am what the Daily Star would describe as a snowflake. Do I care - not ******* likely. I wasn't being entirely serious when I posted - I would have put one of those smiley things at the end, but I date from what used to be called "dumb terminals" - about 15 years before even Windows 3.0 which I remember as being ground-breaking. So carry on - I know you don't need my permission - but I give it anyway.

So that's wolves, West ham and a terrible Brighton side all above us now. Dear oh dear.

Just to play the unrealistic optimist - if we win by a goal tomorrow we will jump up to 9th, level on points with 7th.
