He is a risk for sure, but a risk worth taking in my opinion.

As fans we get frustrated with our own players because we know they can be better etc. I suspect the Flamengo’s fans were just that. How many of us were frustrated with Sarr at the start of this season? We knew he could do better, he was playing in a system that didn’t suit him which didn’t help, looked like he didn’t care, a coach that filled him with no confidence etc. None of us would say that about him now.

With Barbosa, you have striker that is more than capable of playing up top on his own. His aggression and discipline could be a problem. However with a coach like Xisco, I believe he would flourish, similar to Sarr. If we continue to play with a fluid front 3/4, Barbosa will cause many teams a headache in the Prem. He is the type of player that would love to work with Sarr.

If I had to pick one ST from Flamengo though, I would pick Pedro over Barbosa. Only because I think he has a higher ceiling than Barbosa.

Here’s Barbosa’s goals from the other day. He scores the 1st and 3rd. Pedro scores the 4th.

Edit: should note that I don’t think we will sign him, but again, this sort of stuff is fun for me, so I don’t care.

Of Deeney, Gray, Success, Perica, Success and Penaranda (Sinclair's contract is up now, yay!) I'd be OK with Gray and Perica staying for at least some competent depth if it meant we were able to shift the others.

I stick by that although Perica is physically weak for his size, he is still going to get goals. He has the Chalobah complex where he needs a run of games to shake off the rust and get match fit with an extended run se he trusts his body again to get over niggles.

Gray since switching his allegiance to Jamaica has looked better to a point where he looks vaguely like a footballer again.

Gray over the last couple months has been a lot better, not that he could get any worse. Based on the last couple months though, he began to show that he could do a job in the championship for a club that’s a better fit, with less pressure. We will never recoup what we spent on him, but I could see a championship club buying him or wanting him on loan next season.

As for Success, we should get rid of him. He is literally a poor man’s Balotelli. At least Balotelli had the right to be arrogant, Success genuinely thinks he’s amazing and doesn’t have to try. Success will become a nothing player as long as he has the attitude and mentality he has right now. He just cares about the night life, money and fame. He’s a waste of a £30k p/w salary.

Despite being 6'4" Perica comes across more of a poacher than big lump.

Yeah, his movement and instinct is there and has a good header when not under massive pressure. He's not outstanding in any category and doesn't drop as deep as Pedro with his work rate which may be why he isn't featuring, but I do think he deserves more minutes I think. Despite his finishing on the floor not being great is isn't bad either, at least he hits the target and forces something from a keeper.

Age, homesick, pressure. Played something like 60mins the entire time he was there. Was scoring goals in Brazil before he went. Back to scoring goals in Brazil again. Just wonder if it was down to mismanagement of him. Either way, he’s playing with a smile on his face again and loving football once more. Which is good to see.

At least Ugbo has played some senior football, we got Sinclair and he'd barely played a game of senior football.

I'm sure a Championship club would still take a punt on Success for a small fee.

Perhaps we could offer him to Cardiff to knock £1mil or so off a fee for Moore (I think Cardiff have supposedly been interested in him in the past)?

From what I've heard of him, he might be worth a punt, young, seems a good finisher, and even though it's only the Belgian league, he's playing for one of the worst teams in the league hence probably isn't getting much support. The only thing is other clubs are interested, Frankfurt strike me as a potential destination for him, and they are currently in a Champions League spot in the Bundesliga (although their lead over Dortmund has been cut to 1 point so it's certainly not a sure thing that they qualify)

Having watched some more clips I'm not sold on Pedro, I think it appears as if injuries have taken their toll on him and he runs through treacle. Looks a bit clumsy somehow.

However, on the other hand I'm now sold on Dike as a possible signing (if Barnsley don't get promoted)!

I wonder how many 'Young potential foxes in boxes' Watford have been linked to. Far too many; I don't even find rumours of exciting finishers exciting any more. Never going to play, and unlikely to sign.

Moore would only succeed in a team that plays to his strengths . The only team to play that sort of football and survive in EPL in recent times is Burnley .

We don’t have the manager, squad or owner who would support the style of football to make Moore a good signing .

My god that is depressing . You can’t even work out how many pounds per goal because he doesn’t score any .

According to this ( I have no idea if it’s true) but Navarro is on 25 k a week ! More than Kiko!

This is a nonsense, you're completely under-estimating Moore as a striker.

Just because Cardiff play mostly tedious hoof-ball doesn't mean that it's the only way Moore can play - he scores all types of goals, running on to through-balls, sliding on to the end of crosses with his feet, using a poacher's instinct to pick-up loose balls bobbling around the box; it's far from just headers (though he can do those, both from set-pieces and open-play). One could even argue that he's wasted in a team as one-dimensional and lacking in creativity from open play as Cardiff.

"His strengths" are basically the same as any team would want from an all-round number 9 in a 433, in both being able to provide and out-ball and hold the ball up well vs centre-backs, at the same time as also providing a goal threat from different types of situations, both in the air and on the ground.

My only minor reservation is that it would be good if we had a striker who can do everything he can while also being a smidgen quicker (and also maybe has a few extra years left in them) but those are incredibly rare and at the same time he's still no slouch and quicker than Deeney has perhaps ever been. When was the last time Deeney created a goal for himself from a dribble like in 1:08 below (if ever)? Or ran on to the end of a through-ball beyond CBs as per 0:23?

Since you mentioned Moore before I've had a butchers at old Vids from YouTube and read abit and there's nothing not to like about him. I was sceptical at first by the idea is growing on me. He's head and shoulders better than the four we need shifting. So that's a plus straight away. He does score all types of goals and has more natural ability than I ever thought. Some extremely deft flick goals to headers and all round very good player. It is definitely the Cardiff way of playing that put me off him, if he had an extra yard in him he would be some player. It's what you want out of a number 9, could be the surprise of the Premier next season.

    Exactly.

He's also the 2nd highest rated player in the Championship for the season on whoscored for what it's worth, with a 7.59 score - behind Buendia in 1st (7.79), but ahead of Toney in 3rd (7.41).

I put this somewhere a while ago but will say it again now. If reports are to be believed, Deeney £100k p/w, Gray £70k p/w and Success £30k p/w. That’s a total of £10.4mil a year. As you say, chuck in Perica and Penaranda with that, and it’s probably another £1-1.5mil a year.

Bloody hell. We really need to be more sensible with our contracts, what exactly had Success done to be rewarded with his last contract extension and these ludicrous wages? We've literally seen no return on our money even in the Championship.
