If You Want Ivic Out, Who Do You Want To Replace Him?

I'm a quarter Armenian, I'll do it for a quarter of the wages.

It's going to be Tommy Mooney. Doesn't say a word against the club on Hive co-comms, big mates with Deeney, claims to personally know about half the players in the Championship.

I'd like the Cowleys out of the list of favourites but they demand full control over everything such as recruitment and we wouldn't have that. Interestingly I found out today that from 1st Jan managers will also be subject to increased work permit restrictions in the same way that players are, any manager coming in will need to have managed for at least 2 consecutive seasons from the leagues below (or at least 3 seasons out the last 5)

England 1 +2, Spain 1 +2, Germany 1 +2, France 1 +2 , Italy 1 and then Div 1 in: Portugal, Holland, Belgium, Turkey, Russia, Brazil, Argentina, Mexico, Scotland, Czech Rep, Croatia, Switzerland, Ukraine, Greece, Colombia, USA, Austria, Serbia, Denmark, Poland, Slovenia, Chile, Uruguay, China

That list of top leagues is fairly extensive, although with the Pozzos normally hiring someone out work it would be hard to satisfy the 3/5 years in a job requirement. Wonder if that’s one factor in why they pulled the trigger now.

@reids - anyone in particular you’d like to see come in that would work for us in terms of style of play and role at the club?

Not a clue tbf. I still think we should've gone for Struber in the summer instead of Ivic but that ship has long sailed.

And every other Hive Live pundit from the season as coaches.

    Emma Saunders as head coach.

I think that the players would buy into this.

Plus they could present from the bench and interview each other while discussing possible subs. Live and uncut raw football action at its best.

Who the **** would join us? People from the unknown football Leagues who are after a UK work permit so they can get a proper job once we sack them?

Bringing Paul Robinson in as a coach under any new coach wouldn’t be the worst idea really. Has done his badges and coached youth sides at Birmingham. Him as coach, Eustace as assistant, Gomes as GK coach...just need to figure out a manager!

Assuming that we can’t get Jokanovic or Howe in, Sergei Rebrov is an interesting name. Currently manager of Ferencvaros in Hungary, where he has one back to back titles. Previously won back to back titles with Dynamo Kiev. Currently unbeaten and top of the league so not sure he wants to jump ship, particularly for us.

Bruno Lage, who won the title at Benfica in 2019 but was sacked when it all went pear-shaped for them post covid lockdown, and Robert D’Aversa, who got back to back promotions for Parma, kept them in Serie A for two years and then got sacked in the close season are both out of work. Lage was assistant manager for Sheff Wed under Carlos Carvajal so has some experience in the Championship. Former Villarreal manager Javi Calleja (who steered them to 5th last season before being forced to make way for Unai Emery) is another.

My instinct is that Pozzos will want someone who plays a little more excitingly. They often react to correct/over correct from the error of the last appointment/manager (Gracia> more defensive QSF is a good example; so is QSF > Pearson with the whole British manager thing). So I also wonder if they’ll go with someone British or at least with domestic experience, which certainly narrows down the list of options.

As I said a bit earlier, the biggest concern for me is the personality of the new manager not suiting this mixed up squad of misfits who down tools for anyone they don’t like.

That has to be the No.1 attribute the owner looks for in this search. We can have the most decorated manager going but if he comes and barks orders, keeps his distance and is cold to deal with, it’ll just go the same way. These players are what we have - we can’t change them. Not with a quick turnover anyway. So we need a manager to come in and be respected but also someone who fights for them, not with them. Puts an arm round them rather than criticise them. I honestly think that’s the only way these players will respond positively - and in turn the fans will start showing love back to the squad and potentially the owner himself. That’s the only way this will work out. Anything less and we will repeat the same mistakes again.

We need someone to get the best out of our prize asset, Sarr. Howe would improve both his forward play and his diving, which is frankly shocking. He’s clearly never been coached to dive and under Eddie’s guidance could be worth a penalty per game.

In all seriousness, I think the mods need to change Howe to ‘never going to happen’ every time it’s typed, much like (I seem to remember?) typing Vialli used to get changed to ‘The bald Italian’.

Maybe he was appointed during the game yesterday and brought himself on and gave himself free kick duties? Only rational explanation I can think of for a two step run up for a 30 yard free kick, surely no coach in the world could let him do that?
