If You Want Ivic Out, Who Do You Want To Replace Him?

I’d go for Alexander the Great. An inspirational leader, fantastic tactician and goes for the all out attack approach.

At the end of the day, you don’t get called “great” for no reason.

Bit of a pashun merchant who face a dressing room mutiny by the end, though; a worrying precedent given the state of our lot.

As the question being asked is who would we want, rather who we will probably get, my vote as I’ve said before goes to Eddie Howe.

Available. No compensation. Local connections. Won the Championship. Kept a side in the PL for five years. Good attacking philosophy. Won’t take any nonsense but has a genial personality.

I know all the reasons as to why he’d probably not touch us with a barge pole, but in my opinion he’d be an ideal fit.

I would take Luis Zubeldia or Seb Beccacece. Both are tremendous workers with younger players which is the direction we need to go to. Both play attractive attacking football combined with a defence that is uncompromising. No chance either would turn up here.

Pozzo junior and his revolving door means any coach worth his salt will distrust coming here as what can they build ? And who can deal with Deeney and his massive ego. We're not going to get Moaninho to sort him out are we ? So more wonderful mismanagement from Gino and Scott and their adoption of Deeney as the real Watford manager.

With Mullins no longer here, you wouldn’t be totally surprised to see Deeney as caretaker boss over Christmas.

Pearson would’ve been the perfect manager for us in the Championship and Ivic likely more effective if we’d then got promoted.

No idea who this person is but:

Speaks good English, knows The Football League, plays attacking football, has a positive demeanour and personality that can lift the place.

Realistic and fits the above, who knows?

I'd imagine he's getting paid way way more at Al-Gharafa than he'd get with us. Plus far far less stress. And the weather is nicer.

If Gino's still sniffing around obscure Middle-Eastern leagues he may as well cut to the chase and appoint Borat.

The drum is being beaten by LouOrns for Thiago Motta on Twitter...

There’s lots of names I’d throw about with more vigour if we still had PL status. But we don’t. We need to be entirely realistic about where we are, what the resources are, what the resources could be in 6 months if the worst happens and who can work with this squad in this division....

    Paul Cook.

Not who I’d want given a bigger remit. And not a name to get bums off seats. But ticks boxes that Ivic didn’t.

Any talk of Eddie Howe is an utter pipe dream for so many reasons.

I expect Cook, Cowley and Lamouchi will be early short odds. Too quick a turnaround for Bilic. John Terry mentioned too.

Mental the fans online suggesting Eddie Howe or Slaven Bilic to be the new head coach. In what world would either of them want to come here?

It will be some bloke who won the Armenian Prem Division back in 2018.

Can’t see us going for Lamouchi. Too conservative in style and results aren’t great so doesn’t cure the problems identified with Ivic.

Cook, Cowley and Terry will definitely be among the Bookies’ early favourites. Maybe Bilic too although I agree with you the turnaround is too quick and he’s probably receiving more in compensation from WBA than we’d pay him. Maybe Howe too but can’t see him signing up when some attractive jobs in the EPL may be about to emerge and won’t get the operational independence or time to succeed here.

Sami Mokbel (one of the best sourced journalists re Watford) has said we’ve already identified our next coach. So wouldn’t be surprised if we know pretty soon, particularly as well want to have someone preparing the side for the important game v Norwich next week.

Oh we’ll know soon. The fallback option of Mullins has gone - and Omer Riza won’t be allowed anywhere near the 1st team outside of maybe one day’s training. With Ivic’s backroom team going with him, there’ll be someone in by Monday/Tuesday latest, certain of that.

I hope you’re right about Lamouchi. But we’ve been heavily linked before. And now he’s attractive as he’s a free agent too.

Doesn’t matter who we get really. Toxic elements in the dressing room, and inability to build a suitable squad for whoever comes in will render any managerial appointment essentially meaningless.

    Shambles of a club.

It’s a situation of Gino’s making, hoarding players not fit for purpose, and we will be suffering the impact of the decisions made over the last 18 months for a long time. There are several members of the squad who shouldn’t wear the shirt again.

Agreed, give up and go home if it’s him.

One thing I’d say is that if the club have waited too long to sack Ivic, hopefully it’s with the trade off of securing an agreeable replacement in the interim.
